After Pinkie signed the adoption papers, the party then progressed. Everyone was simply in love with how adorable Melody and Clover looked in their dresses. 'This is the first time I've ever been this happy in a long time' Melody thought to herself smiling. Pinkie then picked her up and put Melody and Clover on her back.
"Come on my sweet little cupcakes, what do you say to having some snacks?" Pinkie asked her new daughters with a smile.
"Ok mommy, that would be nice!" Melody said with her soft and sweet tone. Pinkie's heart melted at the sound of her daughters voice.
"I would love that mommy!" Clover said with a smile.
"Ok, the lets go and get us some cake!" Pinkie said skipping happily over to the desert table. Once there, they saw that the cake that Shade had baked was frosted with red and white stripes and a blue square with white stars in it. The ponies, Spike, and Discord were all looking at the cake curiously.
"Pardon me Shade, but if you don't mind, why is the cake you baked frosted like that?" Fluttershy asked quietly.
"It's the flag of North America. I decorated it to celebrate Independence Day, or the Fourth of July," Shade explained. This intrigued Twilight very much.
"Can you tell us about the Independence Day?" she asked with an adorable desire for human knowledge.
"Certainly, it all happened back in the 16th century, back when the 13 colonies were founded," Shade began, but then Rarity spoke up.
"The 13 colonies?" she asked curiously.
"Yep, they were the first 13 states of the United States of America. These states included New York, Maine, Delaware, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut." Rainbow Dash snickered at how funny some of the states sounded. "Yes they may have funny names, but they are historically important. Because it in these colonies where some of the most important moments in history, like the Boston massacre, and the signing of what got us our freedom from the rule of Great Britain, the Declaration of Independence." he further explained drawing shocked looks on the faces of the ponies, Spike, and Discord. "It was drafted July fourth, 1776, and was signed by delegates from each of the 13 states, and every year, we celebrate what they did by having fireworks." Shade said finishing his explanation. The ponies were all amazed at the explanation. "And seeing at how the sun's going down, we should be seeing some fireworks real soon." he said looking out the window.
"But who lowers the sun here?" Twilight asked with a quirked eyebrow.
"No one, the earth's rotation around our sun allows the sun and moon to raise and set by themselves." Shade said matter-of-factly. This made Celestia and Luna horrified. "ALL RIGHT EVERYONE! THE FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS ARE ABOUT TO START!" Shade called to the children, who were all lining up to get cake, from which the alicorns and Rarity helped him distribute to the little ones, who then all took a place near the windows to see the fireworks first hand, or in the ponies case, first hoof. After taking their seats, the fireworks began, and the children were all amazed by all the colors. There was an incredible display of red, blue, yellow, green, and many more colors. After awhile, the grand finale came and went, and all the children were tuckered out, and wanted to go to bed. "All right kids, let's get you all to bed, and as for you all, it was wonderful meeting all of you, so I guess, this is goodbye for now," Shade said before waving goodbye to the ponies. Just then Pedro and Molly came running up to Melody and hugging her.
"We'll miss you Melody!" Pedro said practically crying.
"It'll be lonely without you," Molly said also sad that Melody is leaving.
"Don't worry guys, as long as I'm with you in your hearts, I will never leave," Melody said also tearing up.
Twilight walked up, teary eyed as well, "She's right, friendship is eternal, even when in different realms," she said trying to keep a smile.
"She's right! Never let the Melody that's in your heart disappear," Shade said backing up Twilight.
"Your right, all of us at the orphanage are still friends even if your not here Melody!" said Pedro, with new found reassurance.
"We'll never forget you Melody," Molly said giving her friend a big hug.
"And I won't forget any of you. GOODBYE!" Melody said with a tearful smile before going back to a now teary eyed Pinkie with Clover..
"GOODBYE MELODY!" the children all called to her before she disappeared.
"You did the right thing in telling her about being there in spirit, now let's get you all to bed," Shade said leading the children to their bedrooms.
