//------------------------------// // The Book. // Story: Werewolf // by RichieDash47 //------------------------------// "Ughh... What a Nice Morning." The purple and green dragon woke up laying on his bed in the library he and Twilight had been living in for a few years now. It was early. The clock over one of the bookshelves marked 8:54. The library was set to open in 1 hour, but no one seemed to care. "Morning Owluicious"Spike said to his buddy in the night shift, as he went to the cupboard to pick something to eat for breakfast. "Hoo!" the Owl replied. "You seem to be tired, what were you and Twilight doing?" Spike said, while he was holding a bag with coffee beans in one hand and taking a cup with the other. "Hoo!" "Twilight." "Hoo!" "Twilight!" "Hoo!" "TWILI... Oh not again!" he said, face palming, but still holding the cup. Owluicious pointed with his left wing to one of the rooms of the library, while Spike prepared the coffee pot and went to the place Owluicious signaled him to, the lights were off, but there was a candle in one table and a shady silhouette of a unicorn. Spike turned the lights on to find Twi reading. Nothing weird. Most Saturday mornings were like that, but there was something different. It was like Twilight Sparkle was absorbed in the book mentally. She couldn't move her eyes away from the text. She was smiling, holding her head with her Right hoof, and using the left one to switch the page. She looked misaligned, her mane was an uproar, her eyes had rings and were tired-looking, not to mention they were almost closed. This was surprising, even as an erudite; Twilight had priorities, like organizing the books by category before putting the "open" sign in the door, making a draft for princess Celestia´s letter, brush her mane, take a bath after feeding Owluicious, and sometimes, make her daily Schedules before she had to start anything else. "Hummm Twilight? We are haaving breakfast won't you like some?..." Spike asked. There was no answer. "Twilight!" Spike said, yelling a little. Still, there was not a single reaction. "TWILIGHT!!!" Spike screamed, but there was no answer, Twi just skipped a page. Spike decided to be more radical. He went near her and closed the book. As soon as the front cover and the text block crashed, leaving a just printed paper smell all over the room, Twilight reacted. "Oh no! The food, the letter, the schedule! I need to get everything ready!" And she ran away from the room. Spike followed her, but much slower, until he remembered the coffee, and ran after Twilight out of the room. "Its Nine O'clock! There's still time, let's do this!" she said, while filling a bowl with bird food at an incredible speed. "Aaaaah! So close! Phew... I am a lucky guy sometimes." The kettle was almost full. It was just going to arrive to the point where it spills off, but Spike was fast enough to turn off the coffee pot, drink a little, and save the coffee. Twilight was running all over the library, doing things as fast as she could. When she was done, she went to the bathroom to take a shower, and she came out fast as lighting, but wet. "Fine, everything is ready, we are all prepared to open the Library! Spike! The hour!" she said, in a tone of success, and Hyperactivity. "It's officially... 9:04 AM" Spike said, drinking some coffee. "Oh... So I?" "Yes, you worried too much again..." Spike interrupted. "Well... this is Awkward" Twilight said, lowering her ears. "I think you should go get dry Twilight." Spike said with indifference. "Okay... silly me" Twilight giggled "I'll be back soon!" Twilight was now fully awake and relaxed after she got dry, and everything was normal again. Everyone had breakfast, and by 9:30, they were all done. ]"Hey Twilight, what's that book you were reading? You were like lost in it or something." Spike said. "Oh I completely forgot! It's a new book of Stellar Mist, it's a part of this love story is called..." "NO! Please Twilight, Tell me it's not the..." "Equinox Saga" The scene was tense. Spike was making an angry-hater complain, and Twilight was defending a book she liked. Owluicious was doing nothing, but watching this two fight and enjoying his bowl, overfilled with bird food. There was an awkward silence for some minutes, and then Spike started the fire. "That Story is Horrible!" Spike said. "Go and ask any pony on the street and they will ALL tell you the same as I!" He continued, madly. "That's because every pony watched the movie! And I agree it was horrible, I mean, I dropped tears, but not tears of joy. Anyways, it's not all because of the story. To tell the truth, it's really well planned and entertaining! It's because of those wonderful creatures!" Twilight replied. She went from her aggressive mood to happy in a short time. "Vampires?" "Werewolves" "What's so great about them?" "You will never stop arguing until you win right Spike?" Twilight said with sarcasm. "Whatever Twi" "No! You know what? Today, we will all sit after work and read one chapter!" "C'mon Twilight, you don't have to..." "No! Book!" "But..." "BOOK!" And that was the end of the conversation, No one passed by the library in the first two hours. Spike was in a bad mood all the morning, just thinking of reading that book made his breath go faster, around Midday, Owluicious took his daytime habitual sleep, and Twilight continued reading her Equinox book, around 1pm, Rainbow Dash passed by the library. "Hey Twilight!" "Hi there Rainbow! Let me guess, you want the next book in the Daring Do saga? This one is called Daring Do and the Crystal Skull, ii's the favorite of many fans!" "Hmmm thanks but no thanks, I´m looking for another book genre, see all this Daring Do is awesome and exciting, but I want to try something new, something a little bit more... I don't know." Rainbow said, cool as always. "I think I know what you need." Twilight said "How about The Neverending story?" "Hmmm nah, something a little bit... shorter." " This one is good, the Psychoanalyst! It's this great story about this Crazy guy and..." "Yeaaah, I´m not really into those... things" "Well there's just one option left, The Equinox saga!" "Wasn't that a movie or something?" "I know, I know, how about if you give it a try? I am going to read it out loud this afternoon, want to come?" "Hmm... I've got nothing else to do, fine." The rest of the day wasn't busy, two or three ponies came by to return a book, and at 5 o clock, the library closed. They usually closed at 7:00, but Rainbow wasn't very well known for being patient, and Twilight wanted to show Spike the books were really good, so at 5, Rainbow, Owluicious and Spike were sitting around Twilight's bookshelf, as she came with the book and started reading. "My mother drove me to the ship port with the windows rolled down. It was seventy-five degrees in Ponix, the sky a perfect, cloudless blue..." "You should learn something from the Ponix weather patrol here Rainbow" Twilight said, but no one laughed, "Fine... jeez you guys have such a bad sense of humor." "I was wearing my favorite hat. A white Stetson , with a black eyelet lace. I was wearing it as a farewell gesture..." "I guess Rarity would love this story" Rainbow said, Mocking. "Oh shut up!" Twilight said, Laughing a little, Spike was not amused. "In the Oceanic Peninsula of the northwest Canterlot State, a small town named Morks exists under a near-constant cover of clouds. It rains on this inconsequential town more than any other place in Equestria..." "Now that is a good weather patrol!" Rainbow said, and everyone laughed, even Owluicious. "Oh Come on!... Whatever!" Twilight exclaimed angrily, and continued reading. "It was from this town and its gloom that the omnipresent shade of my mother escaped with me when I was only a few months old. It was in this town that I'd been compelled to spend a month every summer until I was fourteen. That was the year I finally put my hoof down; these past three summers, my dad, Candle Shine, vacationed with me in Unifornia for two weeks instead." It was to Morks that I now exiled myself - an action that I took with great horror. I detested Morks. I loved Ponix. I loved the sun and the blistering heat. I loved the vigorous, sprawling city. "Bell," my mom said to me - the last of a thousand times - before I got on the plane. "You don't have to do this." "My mom looks like me, except she has a short mane and laugh lines. I felt a spasm of panic as I stared at her wide, childlike eyes. How could I leave my loving, erratic, hare-brained mother to fend for herself? Of course she had another guy now, so the bills would probably get paid, and there would be food in the refrigerator, light in the night, and someone to call when she got lost, but still..." "Whoa, Whoa, whoa, stop this" Spike said "how'd this story get so grimdark?" "Because the story it is meant to be so" Twilight said "When the story moves forward, things will get even worse, but then, a happy ending like always. Now STOP INTERRUPTING!" "Fine, Fine" Spike said, in a tone of apology. "I want to go," I lied. I'd always been a bad liar, but I'd been saying this lie so frequently lately that it sounded almost convincing now. "Tell Candle I said hi." "I will." "I'll see you soon," she insisted. "You can come home whenever you want - I'll come right back as soon as you need me." But I could see the sacrifice in her eyes behind the promise. "Don't worry about me," I urged. "It'll be great. I love you, Mom." She hugged my tightly for a minute, and then I got on the Ship, and as we sailed into the sea, she was gone. "It's a seven hour trip on boat from Ponix to Siaddle, another hour in a small Boat up to Port Pegasus, and then an hour drive back down to Morks. Sailing doesn't bother me. The hour in the car with Dad, though, I was a little worried about. Candle had really been fairly nice about the whole thing. He seemed genuinely pleased that I was coming to live with him for the first time with any degree of permanence. He'd already gotten me registered for magic high school and was going to help me get a job when I was done with Studies..." Twilight continued reading for a while; the reactions from Dashie and Spike were changing while the book took progress. At the end of the first chapter, Rainbow was smiling with an open mouth, Spike was making a grin of surprise, and Owluicious just continued with his Indestructible Poker face. "So what do you think Rainbow?" Twilight said, full of pride. "Well, it is pretty good. Definitely not my favorite story, but not bad! It seems interesting and maybe it would be cool for a pause of Daring Do, so I'll take it!" Rainbow said, taking the book from the shelf and so, the rainbow colored mane Pegasus left the building with the book in her mouth. "Well Spike?" Twilight said, with pride again. "... What rainbow said" the dragon answered, still with his hater tone but with a bad poker face. "Hoo!" Said Owluicious. "Yes! Yes yes yes yes!" Twilight said, jumping in circles. "Calm down, it's just a book, a really good book I criticized without any knowledge about the actual story, but just a book." Spike said, trying to hide that he truly liked it. "Aaaah, okay, phew, I love this kind of stories! But... it’s getting late, maybe I should go to sleep." Twilight yawned "Yeah, me too. Okay Twilight, good night!" Spike said, and everyone went to sleep. Special Thanks to Shadowr2kirby2 my pre-reader/editor, even if your poor knowledge of the show made you take out some references xD.
