After happily bouncing with her new friends, Pinkie continued her way to the swimming hole. "Pinkie Pie, if you don't mind my asking, where am I?" Melody said in her soft yet kind tone.
"Well my little cupcakes, you two in the land of Equestria, a land fill with magic and ponies. There is a total of four races of pony, Earth Ponies, like me and my friend Applejack, Pegasi, which are ponies with wings, like my friends Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, and unicorns, which are ponies with horns on their heads, like my friend Rarity, and then there are the all powerful royal Alicorns, who are ponies with wings and horns. My friend Twilight Sparkle is the most recently crowned princess of friendship. There are three others like Twilight, there's Princesses Celestia and Luna, the princesses of the sun and moon respectively, and then there is Cadence, the princess of love, and the Crystal Empire." Pinkie finished up her explanation, and turned to see a look of wonder on little Melody's face but worry on Clovers face.
"There are unicorns here?!" she asked with an excited squee.
"Yeperroni! My friend Rarity is the best fashion designer in all of Ponyville and she's a unicorn as well," Pinkie said hearing a happy sigh from Melody. Aww, she must love unicorns! Pinkie thought to her self. Just then she looked up and saw all her friends gathered at the swimming hole. They all turned to see Pinkie and they all smiled. As she walked over to them, she felt a shaking on her back. Pinkie turned back to see little Melody and Clover shaking like leaves on her back. "Sweeties, what's wrong?" she asked in a soft tone.
"W-well, Twilight is going to be the first real princess I've ever met other than Clover, what if she doesn't like me?" Melody asked in a quiet and nervous tone.
"A-and what if my bad luck causes something b-bad to happen to her and your friends?" Clover asked with tears threatening to escape.
"Shh, don't you worry sweethearts, Twilight is the princess of friendship remember? I'm sure she would love you two as friends! And Clover, like I said before, my Pinkie Sense will tell me if there is danger or not," Pinkie said trying to reassure them.
Melody just nodded, "Ok Pinkie, I would love to have more friends, since you were the first one I've ever been able to make without fear of being hurt by my caretakers." Melody said with a bit of shakiness in her voice.
"And I always wanted friends, but my mommy and daddy told me that a princess shouldn't even think of friendship, so I think making friends with your friends will be nice," Clover said with a small yet broken smile.
Pinkie smiled at them for being willing to go and meet her friends, but was frowning on the inside. What kind of mean meanie pants' would keep such sweet and lovable fillies like you two from making friends she thought to herself. She continued to walk toward the group of ponies below.
"Hey Pinkie, where the hay have you been?!" Rainbow Dash asked demanding an explanation.
"RAINBOW, HUSH! Pinkie must have had a good reason for being late." Rarity said with a flick of her mane.
"Yeah, where've y'all been Pinkie?" asked Applejack with a quirked eyebrow.
"Sorry about being late everypony, but I found two some ones who needed help, and friends." Pinkie said explaining herself.
"Well, can we see who you found?" Twilight asked looking at her pink friend.
"OK! But just so you all know, this little ones aren't ponies, so try not to do anything to scare them, ok?" Pinkie asked, looking at her friends. They all nodded in understanding. Pinkie then turned to her back, "It's ok sweeties, these are all my friends. They're all super nice and won't try to hurt either of you." Pinkie said in a comforting tone.
Hearing Pinkie give the ok, Melody and Clover slowly poked their heads out of the poofy mane they were hiding in. They then turned to face the new group of ponies. "H-hello everyone." Melody said in a shaky tone, obviously nervous about being around unfamiliar faces.
"I-it's nice to meet all of you," Clover said also nervous about being around new faces.
"The blonde ones name is Melody, and the brunette one is Clover, and they are the sweet little cupcakes I found all alone." Pinkie explained. This made her friends all shocked to see that such a small children is all alone. "Melody, Clover, it's ok, my friends will never try to hurt either you," Pinkie said trying to keep her calm.
"Why howdy there Melody and Clover, Ah'm Applejack, and Ah work over at the Sweet Apple Acres farm." Applejack said smiling at the small children with a tip of her Stetson.
"Aww, aren't you two just the cutest little things ever! Anyway, my name is Rarity, the top fashion designer in all of Ponyville. It is wonderful to meet you darlings!" Rarity said with a blush.
"Hey kids, it's nice to meet you. I'm Rainbow Dash, the fastest flyer in all of Equestria!" Rainbow Dash said with a smug smirk.
"Oh my goodness! You two are just so cute! I'm Fluttershy, I just love to take care of animals. big and small! I can show you two my animal sanctuary, if that's ok with you?" Fluttershy said with a squee.
Twilight was the last to come up, and when she did, Melody and Clover bowed her heads respectfully. "Now now, there's no need to bow sweethearts. My name is Twilight Sparkle, and I am the princess of friendship. If you want, I can show you two a few spells and a bit of magic!" Twilight said giving her a blushing smile. Twilight's only response was two kind and gentle hugs around the neck.
"B-but my mommy and daddy always said if I ever met another princess or a prince I should always show respect," Clover said with shakiness in her voice.
"Wait, so does that mean your a princess too?" Twilight asked looking at Clover.
"Yes, but, I would give anything to give up my place as royalty!" Clover said, with her voice breaking.
"Are you saying, you never wanted to be a princess?" Rarity asked quite shocked.
"If being a princess means I can't have friends, or toys, or sweets, then I don't want to be a queen," Clover said looking at the fashion designer.
"A princess is allowed to have friends as she wishes, so I can understand what you're trying to get at," Twilight said, before looking at Melody.
"You really are a magic pony princess! I've always wanted to see a real pony princess up close!" Melody said with happiness in her voice.
"Well, I haven't been a princess long, but I am magical, same with Rarity," Twilight said motioning to her and her pearl white unicorn friend.
"Well either way, it's still nice to meet you all!" Melody said with a happy smile before going back to Pinkie's grasp.
"Same here!" Clover said before going back with Melody to Pinkies grasp.
"Hey Twilight, I would like to know if you know what kind of a creature Melody and Clover are." Pinkie asked her lavender alicorn friend.
"I think I might've seen a description of them before in this book I brought along," Twilight said levitating a book titled "Mythical creature's of Equestria". She then opened the book and flipped the pages until she found something that matches Melody and Clovers description. "Aha, here we go! According to the book, Melody and Clover are humans." she said looking at her friends and Melody and Clover.
"HUMAN?!" the other 5 friends said in surprise. They now had to give the bets they all made to a certain mint colored unicorn.
"Yep. It also says that they're bipedal, meaning they walk on two legs, and also have appendages known as hands, which are located on their arms, which help them pick up stuff, eat with, and some other stuff." She said looking at the little girls who was all comfortable in Pinkie's loving embrace. Then Twilight read over a section that explains a human's diet, and after reading about their diet she then looked at Melody. "It also says that their omnivores, meaning they eat both fruits and vegetables, and *shudders* meat." she said with reluctance. This drew gasps from her friends. "But there is a section where it says there are humans that eat little, to no meat, and find the protein necessary for their health in eggs, and nuts. They also use a meat substitute called tofu." she then reassured them, which aloud them to breathe a sigh of relief.
Twilight then looked over a section called 'Human and animal relationships'. "Hmm, interesting," Twilight said with interest.
"What does the book say, darling?" Rarity asked wanting to know more about what Twilight is reading.
"It's a section on human and animal relationships, it explains how humans treat animals with love and respect, giving them food and shelter." Twilight explained, then her eyes widened when she read over a section of the types of pets humans can have. "The book also says that among the animals that can be care for by a human, ponies are a common farm or grassland pet." Twilight said. This definitely surprised the friends.
As she was reading the Human and animal section, she soon read over a passage that drained the color from her face. This got everyone very concerned for their friend. "Hey Twilight? Are you ok? You look like you saw a ghost." Rainbow asked like something was nothing.
"The book also says that most humans aren't as kind towards animals as others. Some are even cruel to animals, ponies included." Twilight said with hardly any breath left. This fact made the friends all gasp in horror, as they all looked at Melody and Clover worriedly.
"B-but I love animals! I never like the thought of hurting any poor creature!" Melody said now scared of what might happen with tears threatening to shed uncontrollably.
"And I'm not even allowed near an animal!" Clover said with tears in her eyes as well.
"Shh, it's ok sweeties, we can tell you two never like being mean towards anything." Twilight said trying to calm her down. This attempt failed and they started to cry softly yet hard in Pinkie's chest fur. This made all the friends tear up as they look on at them in sadness. After a few minutes the two girls cried themselves to sleep. This made Pinkie speak to tell her friends something concerning Melody.
"Girls, I need to tell you something about Melody and Clover," she said sounding distressed. This made her friends all look at her curiously. "I found them on my way over here in a bush, all sad and alone." this made her friends all gasp. "When I tried to comfort them, they were scared to death of me, and I didn't do anything to make them scared. And after I told them I wanted to be friends, Melody told me that she never was allowed to even think of friendship because of her super duper mean meanie pants' of caretakers, and Clover said that her mean meanie king and queen mommy and daddy forbade her from even thinking of friendship, because they thought it was a waste of time," This made the friends all extremely shocked, not only for them not being allowed to make friends, but for Melody being an orphan.
"I know! How about we go and introduce Melody and Clover to Celestia? I'm sure they would love to meet each other." Twilight suggested.
"Hmm, ya know, that's a pretty good idea Twilight! Maybe she can help us get the love and friends that Melody and Clover truly deserves." Applejack said with a smile.
"Pinkie darling, if a lady could ask, may I take Melody and Clovers measurements so I can make her a new outfit?" Rarity asked politely.
"Sure thing," Pinkie said. Fluttershy then carefully trotted up and put a towel in front of where they were.
"A little something to keep her from getting dirty." Fluttershy explained. Pinkie nodded and laid Melody on the towel, where Rarity then proceeded to take the measurements. After she was done, she then put the measurements in her saddlebags.
"I shall have her new outfit done by tomorrow." Rarity said to Pinkie Pie.
"Oh, and Clover asked for something in a clover design," Pinkie told her unicorn friend, who nodded in understanding.
"Ok, sorry we had to cut our outing short Pinkie, but I think these little cutie's well being is more important." Twilight said with the others nodding in agreement.
"Oh, don't worry, once we figure out what to do with this cute wittle cupcakes we can go from there." Pinkie reassured her.
"Ok, girls, I will write a letter to Celestia explaining our visit. We need to be ready first thing in the morning." Twilight explained.
"Ok, see you all tomorrow!" Pinkie exclaimed happily while trotting away.
"Alright, ah best be heading back to the farm now, so ah guess Ah'll see y'all later." Applejack said walking towards her farm.
"Yeah, I guess I'll head back too, see you girls!" Rainbow called while flying back to her cloud house.
"I hope the princess will be welcoming towards the little dears, I would hate to think of what would happen to Melody if she were to be sent back to that horrible orphanage, or Clover to those awful parents!" Fluttershy said sounding worried for the little girls.
"Don't worry Fluttershy, I'm sure the princess will love Melody and Clover, ok, I'll see you tomorrow." said Twilight back to Fluttershy.
"Ok, see you tomorrow!" Fluttershy said back while trotting towards her little cottage.
Meanwhile with Pinkie Pie,
After bidding adieu to her friends, Pinkie made her way back into town, heading for her home, of Sugercube Corner. Along the way, she noticed looks of shock on the townsfolk. I'm sure once they get used to seeing these little cuties, then they'll won't be so shocked,Pinkie thought to her self. Just then she turned to see that her home and workplace was just around the corner.
Walking in, she called "MR. AND MRS. CAKE? I'm home!" she then heard some tiny hoofsteps and turned to see little Pound and Pumpkin Cakes. "Hello Pound and Pumpkin! Do you know where your mommy and daddy are?" Pinkie asked the twin foals. They both pointed towards the kitchen to see that Mrs.Cake was coming out. She looked very surprised to see her employee back so soon.
"Why hello Pinkie Pie. Why are back so soon? It's a beautiful day outside." she asked looking at her employee with curiosity.
"Well, here's the thing," and so Pinkie began to explain how and where she found Melody and Clover, how they first reacted to seeing Pinkie, and taking them to see her friends, getting info on what they were, and planning to go see the Princesses the next day.
"Well, isn't that sweet of you to do for the little sweetie, if I can ask, can I see the dears?" Mrs.Cake asked. Pinkie nodded and turned to show her boss the little girls who were sleeping with a soft smile on her face. "Aww, they're so precious!" Mrs.Cake said quietly as not to wake the little girls.
"I know, and I can't believe anypony would be so mean to her by keeping them from making friends," Pinkie said with a frown. Mrs.Cake frowned at this fact.
"Well, I can guarantee they'll will never have that bad of abuse again." Mrs.Cake said trying to lift their spirits.
"You're right! I'm going to go and tuck them into bed and make some salad for dinner! Also, where's Mr.Cake?" Pinkie asked not seeing the orange stallion anywhere.
"I sent him out to pick up some more sugar," Mrs.Cake replied. "We were running low on sweeteners." Mrs.Cake replied with a smile.
"Oh, ok!" Pinkie just said before trotting up the stairs.
Mrs.Cake just sighed, "I hope the princess knows what to do with those little sweethearts." she just said to herself before turning towards her foals. "Come on you two, let's go put you up for your naps." she said to her foals who were just babbling and playing on the floor.
Meanwhile upstairs, Melody and Clover had woken up to find they weren't outside anymore. They then remembered what all transpired during the day. They looked to try and find Pinkie Pie, but to no avail. Clover then heard hoofsteps coming down the hall. She turned towards the door to see Pinkie with a bowl of what appeared to be salad. "OH! Good, you're up! I made you two a nice salad for dinner. I hope you like it!" Pinkie said giving Melody and Clover a bowl and a fork.
Melody took a bite out of the salad, and moaned with happiness. "It's delicious Pinkie!' Melody said with a smile.
"I haven't had anything this good in my whole life!" Clover commented.
"Well, I'm glad you two like it! I also have cupcakes to give you for dessert!" Pinkie said pulling out a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting on it. This really surprised Melody and Clover as they kindly took their cupcakes. After a while, they finished the salad, and looked uneasily at the cupcake. "What's wrong sweeties? You don't like the flavor combo? I can get you two another one if you don't like these one." Pinkie said trying to make sure Melody and Clover were comfortable.
"No, nothings wrong, it's just I was never allowed to have dessert back at the orphanage. The caretakers would always keep me and the other orphans from all sweets, so I've never had a cupcake." Melody said with a frown.
"And Mommy told that sweets would ruin my royal status," Clover said with a frown of her own.
Pinkie was horrified by this. Not only being aloud to have friends, but also not being aloud to have dessert after dinner. These caretakers shouldn't even be allowed to work at the orphanage if this was how they treated the orphans. And sweets would never tarnish a royal status. "Shh, don't worry, you never have to worry about those meanies ever again. You're among friends who only want you two to be happy." Pinkie reassured her.
When Melody and Clover bit into their cupcakes, they were overtaken by a feeling of amazement.This is what sweets taste like?! Oh, if Pinkie and her friends let us stay here, then I'm going to like it here! the two girls thought to themselves. They then looked up to see Pinkie looking at her with a concerned look. "I love the cupcake Pinkie!" Melody said with the biggest smile she ever made.
"I'm so happy that you let us have sweets for the first time!" Clover said with a smile almost as big as Melody's.
"Aww, I'm glad you liked them cupcakes," Pinkie said with a smile. "Hey would you two like to come and meet my employers? They're just as nice as my friends." Pinkie said with a beaming smile.
"Ok Pinkie, that would be nice, thank you!" Melody said returning the smile. Clover nodded in agreement.
"There's no need to thank me silly, I just want you two to be as happy as can be!" Pinkie said motioning Melody to climb on her back. After Melody and Clover climbed onto Pinkie's back, Pinkie then said "Ok, let's go!" And with that she trotted happily out of the room to go meet the Cakes.
As they trotted downstairs to meet the Cakes, they saw Rarity in the main parlor. When Rarity saw the three, she smiled and trotted up to them. "Why hello Pinkie and Melody and Clover darlings. How are you this fine evening?" she asked in a kind tone.
"We're good Rarity, we just had dinner for the night, and Pinkie gave me and Clover our very first cupcakes ever!" Melody exclaimed in a happy tone.
"Why that's good sweetie, now if you two can close you eyes, I have a surprise for you!" Rarity said in a soft yet excited tone.
"Ok Rarity," and with that, Melody and Clover closed their eyes and extended their arms out, waiting for their surprises.
With a giggle, Rarity levitated something out of her saddlebags. "Ok Darling, open your eyes!" she told the little girl. And Melody did so, and when she opened them, they were overjoyed to see 2 new outfits. Melody's daytime dress was all Ruby red, with matching red shoes, while the other looked to be pajamas, which were spring green with a floral design on it. Clovers daytime dress was spring green had a clover pattern on it, just as she requested, and the pajamas were ocean blue, with clovers on it.
"Oh Rarity, they're beautiful!" Melody said in a happy tone with Clover nodding happily in agreement. Rarity and Pinkie giggled and blushed at their excitement. "Pinkie, is it ok if we go and put on our pajamas?" Melody and Clover looked up at the pink pony with hopeful smiles.
Pinkie nodded, "Yes sweeties, the bathroom is down that hall 2nd door on your right." Pinkie said pointing towards a hall. Melody and Clover nodded and went to go and change.
"Oh they're is just so cute Rarity! I hope the princesses will let them stay." Pinkie said to her unicorn friend with a smile.
"Oh I know! And they have given me much inspiration for new outfits!" Rarity said looking at the hall their new friends just went down.
"Who gave you inspiration Rarity?" said Mr.Cake coming out from the kitchen. "Your new human friends?" he asked with a quirked eyebrow.
"YEP! And I can tell you this, they are as sweet as a whole ocean of cakes!" Pinkie said with a beaming smile.
"Ok Pinkie and Rarity, we're all dressed for bed!" they all heard a voice from the hall, and when they turned to see the source, they all d'awwed at the outfits little Melody and Clover were wearing.
"Aww, your so cute!" Pinkie said with a beaming smile.
"I agree, the green really brings out the sweetness in your heart Melody, and Clover, your blue night gown brings out the calmness in you." Rarity commented. Rarity was then tackle hugged by Melody and Clover, but being as small as they are, Melody and Clover were only able to nudge Rarity.
"I really love what you did with this outfit! It's so warm and comfy, unlike the pj's we were forced to wear at the orphanage." Melody said looking up a Rarity with happiness in her eyes.
"And all the night gowns I was required to wear at my parents castle were all too itchy," Clover said with the same amount of happiness in her eyes.
"Aww, I'm glad you love them darlings!" Rarity said looking down at Melody and Clover with a warm smile.
"Melody, Clover sweeties, this is Mr. Carrot Cake, one of my bosses and landlords." Pinkie said introducing her co-boss.
"Hello Mr.Cake! It's nice to meet you," Melody said in a happy tone.
"Hello," Clover said with a shy smile.
"It's nice to meet you to little ones," Mr.Cake replied smiling at the small child. Just then they all saw Mrs.Cake coming in from the back.
"And this is Mrs. Cup Cake, my other boss and landlord." Pinkie said introducing the blue Earth mare,
"Aww, you two even cuter than when Pinkie Pie described you, anyway, it's nice to meet you sweeties," Mrs.Cake said looking at the young ones.
Melody and Clover both blushed when she was called cute, "It's nice to meet you too Mrs.Cake!" she said in a polite tone before giving the cutest yawn ever, which was mimicked by Clover.
"Well, it looks like someone's a little sleepy head!" Pinkie said giving Melody and Clover a nuzzle. "I'm going to go put you two to bed, ok sweeties?" Pinkie asked her little friends.
"Ok, nighty night everyone!" Melody said to everyone.
"Goodnight everyone!" Clover said giving another cute yawn.
"Good night Melody and Clover!" they all called to them.
After making her way back to her room, Pinkie tucked Melody in her bed. "Goodnight Melody and Clover," Pinkie said giving a goodnight kiss to the two girls.
"Goodnight...mommy" was the last thing Melody and Clover said before going to sleep. Pinkie looked at her with a new found happiness that made her eyes water.
