//------------------------------// // Chapter 7: Egomania pt 2 // Story: Queen's Vengeance // by Zervziel //------------------------------// Expecting to see Twilight, Rainbow started as she recognized the pony in front of her. Grey coat, ever-present smile, and those impossible to mistake eyes. "Hi, Rainbow Dash!" exclaimed Ditzy Doo with her usual enthusiasm. "You have a letter from Cloudsdale!" Rainbow took the letter only to almost drop it out of shock when she saw the cloud and lightning bolt insignia on the seal. Fumbling, she managed to catch it and swiftly tore the wax seal off and opened the envelope. Inside was a letter and what appeared to be photos. Curious, Rainbow pulled the photos out first. It was then the first chilling tendrils of dread slowly gripped her. The photos inside the envelope were all of her in various risque positions, some quite revealing. Even in the photographs, the blush on her cheeks was readily apparent. "Oh! Ohhhh! Oh! Buck my life!" "What's wrong?" asked Ditzy, staring quixotically at the distraught pegasus whose sole answer was to flash some of the photos at her. "Oh! Oh wow!" She looked to the shamed pegasus next to her. "Cider-binge?" Rainbow nodded her reluctantly. "It's kinda the reason why everyone tries to keep cider away from me. I sometimes get a little too drunk and do crazy things like that!" Ditzy nodded and then and looked from the Rainbow in the picture to the actual pony several times. "If it makes you feel better, Rainbow, you do have a nice flank." "DITZY!" "What? I'm just saying. You have the right amount of plush and muscle back there!" "Oh Celestia! Not what I wanted to hear!" Rainbow wailed, covering her ears with her hooves, missing the mischievious smile that shot across her friend's face only to disappear as Ditzy noticed the envelope still in her friends grasp. Curious, she poked the envelope with a hoof. "What about the note inside?" "The note!" In truth Rainbow had forgotten the note. She swiftly pulled it out, scattering the photos out on the cloud, which Ditzy deft nabbed midair and then neatly stacked before leaning over to read the letter in Rainbow's grip. Rainbow ignored her as she read the letter, noting how odd it was so neatly written especially considering it was from Soaren. Dear Rainbow Dash, Wonderbolt Cadet Rainbow, I am writing you due to some unexpected mail I've received from you quite recently. Rainbow, I'm quite aware of your ambitions to join the Wonderbolts as is every member of the team and I personally applaud your efforts and success in how far you've succeeded. However sending these photos of yourself posing in a drunken daze does not paint the most flattering picture of you or what you may bring to the team aside from your skills as a flier. Please for yourself and for me, do not send any more of these pictures in the future. On a lighter note, I will be keeping this between us so just consider that it never happened. None of the other members of the Wonderbolts know of this and won't, at least from me. Watch your cider intake and have a good day. Sincerely Soarin, wing-leader of the Wonderbolts. PS Nice flank. Rainbow stared in horrified silence at the paper, her mind desperately seeking memories of when this happened recently. Like after she had a drinking binge so which she did for special occasions. Like a Pinkie Party Afterparty, Summer Sun Celebration, the anniversary of defeating Nightmare Moon, the celebrations after defeating Discord, the first wedding of Twilight's brother, the actual wedding of Twilight's brother, the after party to the wedding, that time Rarity found her favorite comb , and every other day ending with "Y". Heaving a sigh, Rainbow looked at Ditzy. "I think I may have some drinking issues." "The first step is admitting you have a problem!"said Ditzy with an understanding smile as she hooked a comforting leg around Rainbow. Back in Canterlot, a pair of royal jaws dropped as Chrysalis's minion gave his report. Chrysalis was the first to find her tongue. "You mean to tell me that this Rainbow Dash is going dry because of that prank?!" "Yes, your majesty" replied the changeling, cringing a bit at the sharp tone in his Queen's voice. Princess Luna also managed to recover her speaking faculties. "Oh relax, Chrysalis. You got to do somepony a favor and actually help them at the same time! That takes some doing." The changeling queen grumbled for a bit before relaxing. "I guess so. However I doubt the next pony will be so lucky. Now tell me what you know of this Pinkamena?" A mischievous smirk spread across the alicorn's face. "Oh with pleasure!"
