//------------------------------// // Entry 1: A New Arrival // Story: The Diary of the Two Sisters // by Quill Trace //------------------------------// Entry one A New Arrival (Celestia) Mommy said the new foal is coming today. It has been a long time since she said I would be getting a sister. I was playing with my best friend Starswirl when she came to my room and said we need to talk. She asked me what I of us having another member of the family. I thought about what Starswirl used to tell me about his big brother. About how they used to play together before his brother turned 14 and had to go into training for the Royal Guard. Starswirl always seemed sad when he talked about his big brother, but said the times he and his brother shared when they were younger were always special to him. I thought I could make special memories with my younger sibling, so I said I'd like that very much. She then asked me if I knew what "pregnant" meant, I told her I didn't. She said being pregnant meant she had a new foal growing inside her tummy. A couple months later she asked me if I'd like to hear the foal, and I put my ear on her belly. I felt something kick the side of my head, and it tickled. A little bit later, I thought I heard a heartbeat. I smiled, knowing that soon I would have a new brother or sister. Many months have passed since then, and today the "midwives" came and took mommy to her bedroom, when her and daddy said that the foal is coming. I've been waiting outside this door for a long time, listening to mommy crying like she was hurt. Was having a baby supposed to hurt? But why? I thought a new child was a happy thing? Some more time passed, and the midwives came out saying I could see her, and it was a filly. I walked in to see mommy cuddling a small body wrapped in rags. Looking out of the rags was a dark blue horn, making cooing noises. I walked up to mommy and saw her for the first time. Her face looked around as if confused as to where she was as mommy slowly rocked her. Mommy told me her name was Luna, like the old goddess of the night. I smiled and said her name "Luna". I nuzzled her gently and she reached out a hoof and slowly stroked my face. Daddy gave me this book for my last birthday, and told me to write special things in it. I can't think of anything more special than my sister being born. I can't wait to start playing with her, teaching her to walk, teaching her magic, and making the special memories that Starswirl always talked about with his brother. Well, it's getting late and I'm getting sleepy. Good night.
