//------------------------------// // The art of staring pt1 // Story: The Academy // by Silver Sea //------------------------------// Author's note: This chapter is a pile of poop i threw together at the last minute. Silver had never had a match this long his whole life. It started at the first bell of the day, and it was currently lunch. Neither of them had blinked. Silver was starting to realize why people didn't do staring contests anymore. His opponent was completely black, with a gray mane and a cutie mark of two open eyes. I'm screwed, Silver thought. His talent is LITERALLY staring. "Hey, honey. How were your classes?" Harmony walked up to him and pecked him on the cheek. "Fine. I've made a new staring rival." "Really, Silver? A staring contest?" "Yes, and it's a real doozy. We've been going since first bell." "I'm going to go to second base with you tonight." Silver did a double take and blinked a couple of times before realizing the that she was tricking him. "Ok, you got me, I blinked." Silver looked dejectedly at the ground while Harmony rolled on the floor laughing. "You should have seen the look on your face! My sides are hurting!" She continued cracking up, and Silver couldn't resist chuckling too. "Stop it, people are staring." "Isn't that what you want?" Harmony just couldn't stop. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My Little pony, My little pony, I can't decide what to do. All of these people; making fun of me. Until I met you... I used to wonder how it'd be.. to have friends, as perfect as these! (da, da, da [dadada, dada da da] da, da, da [dadada, dada da da]) It's a magical thing that makes my life complete! My little pony, Do you know you're all my very best friends? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Harmony was still snickering when they trotted into Harmony's kitchen. "Okay, okay, what do you want for lunch?" "A chance to show yo how awesome a staring contest is!" Silver demanded. "Okay then, one sandwich and a children's concentration game coming right up." "This is not funny. There are people who have gotten scholarships and degrees off of this!" "How shallow is this school?" "Very." "Here's your sandwich." Harmony motioned for him to sit down at her table, and he did. "You ready?" "Go." They both stared intently into the other's eyes, eating their lunches as they did so. This caused them to giggle, as they missed their mouths most of the time, but neither blinked. They were still staring. Still staring. They were done with their lunch. Staring. "This is boring." "Very." "On the count of 10." "Okay. One-" They both blinked and sighed in relief. "Never do that again?" "Agreed." Just then, the door opened and Top Speed and Garden stepped in. "Wait, are classes over already?" "Yeah." Harmony and Silver exchanged glances. Then Silver spoke. "She was just wondering because... I... uhh...-" "-Pulled me out of class early!" Harmony nervously finished the thought. "Then why were you too just staring at each other?" "What? How'd you know?" "I stopped by our place before going to meet Garden, and you weren't there. I looked out the window, and saw you and Harmony in your apartment just looking at each other." "We were having a staring contest." "WHAT? Oh Celestia, this is too good!" Top Speed was laying on the floor, cackling like a madman. Garden soon joined him, and then they all were laughing on the ground. "Wait, when did you two start?" "Lunch." "What's your longest game?" "Actually, we only played one. We decided to tie a few moments before you walked in." "Woah, you've had one consecutive game since lunch? That's impressive. I don't think that Open Eyes has ever gone further than 5 hours. You guys were bordering on 6!" "Really?" Silver had an impressed look on his face, and looked at Harmony. "WE WENT FOR 6 HOURS! THAT'S A RECORD!" Harmony was giggling with glee. "Hey, you guys should go talk to Open about a tournament." "Really?" Harmony and Silver Exchange surprised glances and reply in unison. "It's on!"
