The Math Test Of Fate [Revised]

5/28 2:42pm
Adan was having a bad day as was normal for him. He had just failed his math test. It wasn't his fault that he had to train to learn how to control and use his magical powers instead of studying.
Adan had magical fire powers and could fly with the wings on his back. Not making things burst into flames when he got angry was much more valuable. Adan had to make up his test the next day, which he hated. Adan burns the original test and tosses away the ashes.

5/29 1:42pm
Adan was about to take his math test. Adan pushes a strand of his dark red out of his face. Adan takes one look at his test.

What is the square root of 672.3?
A) ≈26
B) 6
C) all of the above
D) None of the above

Adan, this isn’t that hard. I know you can do it.

Adan waits until his teacher leaves the room to go to the bathroom, and crumples his test into a ball and tosses it into the classroom’s recycling bin. He then opens a window and glides down to the ground. Adan's math teacher was the only one that hadn't given up on him yet. He didn't care too much about the fact that he was skipping class, after all, the worst they could do was expel him. He felt kind of bad for his math teacher. He knew that his teacher would worry about him, he was too nice and caring for his own good.

He is about to fly to the gigantic, levitating castle-like building that serves as a sanctuary for him and his friends. Adan had found this building one day, the same day he had gotten his powers. It was made by someone, someone who had taken a great interest in him and his friends for no known reason. This someone wanted to train them to accomplish some task, but Adan didn't know what and always was slightly wary of the building, especially when items mysteriously appeared in it. Adan then sees this weird shimmering effect on the air near the school which turns out to be a portal! A strange boy named Nathan jumps out and puts a strange necklace onto Adan.

"Upload complete," it says. Adan feels memories flooding into his mind. Memories of an alternate timeline, one where humans and small, colorful horses live in a relative state of piece, one that is only held together by a secretive government led by a human prince and a pony Princess. Adan knew that the Princess' title was always capitalized whereas the prince's was not. The prince was just a figurehead to represent equality, although the Princess did legitimately care about him. The memories had belonged to the prince, who was now dead. Nathan had been his best friend. Nathan had used illegal magic and powerful technology to travel to this timeline in an attempt to revive his dead friend by using his counterpart as a vessel.

Adan looked around. Now, these familiar settings were foreign, yet he still remembered them from his original memories. Both of the Adans were mad at Nathan. Dead things are supposed to stay dead! Adan picked up Nathan and flew into the sky castle. Maybe his super powered friends could undo this or something.

Inside the castle, prince Adan's memories started to resurface.
He saw people that looked very much like his human friends. His human friends were the children of various important nobles and the human royal guard. Yet, at the same time, these were clearly not the same people.

First, there were Maxy and Ally, his younger siblings. Physically, they looked mostly the same, minus the wings. However, due to the memories that originally belonged to this body, he knew that their personalities were very different. His Ally and Maxy were sarcastic and witty, whereas these two seemed to be serious as well as kind of naïve. Ally had her usual blackish hair and Maxy had his usual brown hair. Maxy had the power to channel light and Ally could turn invisible, things they couldn't do back in prince Adan's reality. And they also had wings.

Then there was Dan. The metal-plated cyborg prince Adan remembered was instead a simple, (yet winged and somehow invulnerable) human. His trickster personality was still intact. His jade blue hair was also unaffected.

After Dan was the honorable Maya. Both solid black haired incarnations somehow always brought that adjective to mind. This version was winged as well, and had control of various forms of magical sight.

And then there was Angie. Adan's other sister, she was slightly younger than him, and had never been born in his timeline. She had bright blue dyed hair and could summon lightning. She also had wings. She was smarter than most people, but she didn't flaunt her smartness like some did.

Finally, there was Nathan. To each Adan, he meant something different. To prince Adan, he was a best friend, to regular Adan; he was a mirror image of a ghost from a time that Adan wasn't proud of…. Nathan’s blond hair was shiny, just as both Adans remembered. He was holding something, but Adan couldn't see what.

Adan successfully represses the prince's memories temporarily.

"Does everyone in this timeline have wings?" Nathan asks, expecting Adan to ignore him.

"No, only my friends and family and this weird girl who's been following us around lately," Adan said.
"OK. So, time for me to take you back.” Nathan presses a button on his device, but not before Angie hears him and sends a bolt of righteous lightning at him. It hits them, and unknowingly, instead of teleporting to Nathan's time, they teleport to this timeline's version of Equestria, which is foreign to both of them. Nathan accidentally drops his teleportation device onto the castle floor during this time and it is damaged. Adan’s friends grab their weapons and use the device on themselves. Half (Dan, Maxy, and Angie) are teleported to Equestria, and the others are sent to Nathan's dimension. The device ends up with Angie, who puts it in her pocket.

Adan and Nathan wake up in the darkness of the Everfree forest. They walk a little along a dirt path they find, but are distracted by a rustling noise. When they look at it to investigate, a wooden wolf pops out of the bushes! Adan burns it with his fire and flies up into the air with Nathan.

Adan can see a small town from the air, so he flew over to it.

The first thing Adan notices when he enters the town is the distinct lack of people. The entire town seemed to only be populated by sentient, talking ponies. They were similar, yet different to the ponies that prince Adan knew. In fact, the whole town was similar to one the prince had known, except less modern, likely due to the lack of humans. Adan and Nathan glance at each other, and nonverbally agree to split up and investigate.
