My name is Button Mash and I'm 14 years old. Two weeks ago on the day of Sweetie's and I first anniversary I received a mysterious game that took us to a world called Paradise Island where an evil king named Codex ruled. He fillynapped Sweetie Belle and took her to his castle and I gave chase to get her back. After a series of battles I confronted the evil king of darkness at the arena, but before we could fight he was banished away and me and Sweetie returned back home. I thought that we had seen the last of him.
But I was wrong.
Two days later my ex-best friend Rumble showed up, I knew that he wanted to settle things between us, but what I didn't know was that Codex was with him, it was battle that left me with a broken nose. I don't really remember what happened next, but when I came to, Sweetie Belle told me that Derpy Hooves delivered the game to me on behalf of her masters and killed Codex, needless to say I didn't believe her at first, but then I remembered Lyra telling me that I've been targeted by something known as Dark Force. If what she said was true then there is something out there that is out to get me. I need to find this Doctor.
*Knock* *Knock*
"Hmm, now who could that be?" Wondered Milano as she walks to open the front door.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Mash." Greeted Sweetie Belle. "Is Button here?"
The light brown earth pony steps aside to let the white filly in the house. "Of course." She said with a smile. "He's up stairs in his room, in fact I think he's waiting for you."
After thanking the still graying mother Sweetie Belle walks upstairs to her coltfriend's room. "Knock Knock, Button are you in here?" The white filly spots him doing some push ups on the floor.
"Ah, Sweetie I was expecting you, here sit on my back." Sweetie Belle sits on his back while he continued to do his push ups. "I just got done looking over your supposed budget for your play."
Next week Sweetie Belle is putting on a play for the Summer Festival, and she wanted it to be spectacular and maybe start to make a name for herself instead of being known as Rarity's younger sister. "So Button what do you think?" She looks at him with stars in her eyes. "So am I in the clear? Can me and the girls start making preparations?"
Button doesn't look at her as he continues to do his push ups. "Actually Sweetie, I'm sorry to tell you this but you kinda went over the budget."
"Aww really?" She asked sadly. "Where did I go nuts?"
Button Mash motions for her to hop off his back, she gets off and follows him over to his desk where he kept Sweetie Belle's list of things she wanted for her play. "Well for starters do you really need 25 doves for your grand finale, and custom made fireworks that say Done by Sweetie Belle when they explode, or costumes made from silkworms, hoof woven from the gentlest hooves in all of Equestria?"
"Well I guess not." She replied embarrassedly." But I do need those doves, can I go down from twenty-five to twenty?"
"Uhhh...No."
"O...k how about twenty to sixteen?" She asked with hopeful smile.
Button Mash only shakes his head.
Sweetie Belle only rises an eyebrow. "Ok, so how many doves can I have?"
Button looks at the paper then looks back at Sweetie Belle. "Two."
"TWO?!" She shrieked. " I CANT HAVE A GRAND FINALE WITH JUST TWO DOVES BUTTON!"
The brown earth colt only shakes his head, he knew that being Sweetie Belle's 'financial consultant' would be met with shrieking, pouts, and annoyed groans, but like a good boyfriend he decided to help her out. He only wished that she didn't have expensive tastes like her sister. It was a good thing that he planned ahead for this. "If I may offer a suggestion?" He asked while he pulled another piece of paper from his desk. "How about instead of doves you use pigeons."
"Pigeons?" She looks at Button like he said the dumbest thing in the world. "Button you know I love you but using pigeons is a stupid idea."
"Sweetie, doves are expensive." Button replied. "You know they charge by the hour right?"
The unicorn filly takes the paper from Button Mash and looks it over. "And how do you know that?"
"My older brother is getting married next month remember?" He replied leaning on his hoof. "And apparently doves charge half off for funerals and weddings."
Milano instantly appears in her youngest sons room. "I heard talks of doves and marriage, are you two planning your wedding or something?"
"No mom." Groaned Button.
"Dang." She leaves the room and heads back downstairs. Sweetie sits on Button's bed and looks over the list of things she would have to change or get rid off. "Aw man, well if this is what has to happen to have a play." She gets up and walks towards the door. "I'll take your revisions to Applebloom and Scootaloo and we'll work out a better game plan." The white filly kisses the brown colt and begins to walk out the door.
"Sweetie, Sweetie wait."
Sweetie Belle stops and looks at Button who seemed to be struggling with something. " Yes Button what is it?" She asked softly. He was struggling to say something.
"Do you mind if I go with you?"
Sweetie gasped at Buttons question, after that whole ordeal with Codex and Rumble, Button Mash hasn't left his house in two weeks. She wondered if he entered some sort of self-imposed exile, either for his or Rumble's sake. "Umm, ok but if you see Rumble." She grabs his face and makes Button look her in the eyes. "Do. Not. Fight him, understand?"
Button Mash quickly nods.
"Good , now I'll hold you to that Button. She lets go of his face and walks over to the door with Button Mash following close behind.
It was another beautiful day in the small town of Ponyville as its inhabitants were preparing for the Summer Festival as Princess Celestia's sun was shining brightly in the sky.
"Man, Its been a long time since I've been out here." Button said covering his eyes. "I haven't done something like this since I was seven."
"Back when video games made up seventy-five percent of your life. Giggled Sweetie Belle. "I never would've thought I've would be dating an ex-recluse."
The two continued to make their way throughout the town watching the townsponies put up the decorations for the festival.
"So where are Applebloom and Scootaloo?" Asked Button trying to strike up a conversation.
"Oh they're at the clubhouse as usual." She replied while watching some earth ponies build a stage. "We agreed to meet there after I came back from your house." Sweetie Belle looks the brown earth colt with a smile. "I think they'll be glad to see you again Button."
"SWEETIE BELLE!
Button Mash and Sweetie Belle turn around to the mysterious voice. "NOW YOU'LL PAY FOR HURTING MY MOTHER!
The white filly just rolls her eyes. "Dinky how many times must I tell you this." She said very annoyed. "I didn't hurt your mother I only knocked her out, she kept saying things like my masters will get rid of Button then said that Button and he who shall not be named be friends again. She turns around and begins to walk away. "Even your mother confirmed that she said that, and thanked me for helping her."
Dinky Hooves youngest daughter of Derpy Hooves stood before the couple, two weeks ago when Sweetie Belle knocked the gray pegasus mare out with her magic Dinky was absolutely livid, she thought that Sweetie Belle attacked her mother because of her crush on Button and instantly sought revenge, Derpy found out about it and grounded her for a week.
"Don't you run away from me Sweetie Belle!" Dinky said running in front of the white unicorn. Button wonders if he should do something, he knows that Sweetie is a tough little filly and has proven that she doesn't need him to keep an eye on her all the time. But like his father says. 'Step in the middle of a fight between two mares and you'll end up with scratches.' Button thinks about his fathers words. Mares don't have claws...Or do they?
"I'm through talking to you about this Dinky!" Exclaimed Sweetie Belle. "No matter how many times you ask me about it I'll simply tell you the same thing, Its NOT about Button!"
DINKY HOOVES!
The gray filly quickly backs away, she knew that voice anywhere. "M-mama?"
Derpy Hooves descends from the sky and lands next to her daughter with a very stern look on her face. "What did I tell you about trying to pick a fight with Sweetie Belle?!"
"B-bu"
The blond mare was having none of it. "No buts Dinky, now march home this instant and go to your room!" Dinky hangs her head and slowly makes her way home but not before giving Sweetie Belle one last looks that said This isn't over.
Button and Sweetie watched the gray unicorn filly walk home. "Sigh I'm so sorry about that Sweetie Belle." Derpy apologized. "She can be a little overprotective when it should be the other way around." She takes off in the air again. "Well I should finish delivering these letters, then I'll have a talk with Dinky." She waves the two goodbye. "Bye Button and Sweetie." Derpy flies away continuing to finish the rest of her mail route.
Button looks at Sweetie Belle who still looks very annoyed. "Uh, Sweetie are you ok?" She nods and continues to walk towards the clubhouse with Button Mash not far behind.
"Sparkler, Sparkler is your mother back yet?" Asked a brown earth pony.
A pink unicorn looks back at the brown stallion annoyed that he had interrupted her reading again. "No Doctor she not!" Sparkler turns back to her book with a huff. "Quit asking me every five minutes."
The Doctor enters the front room wearing a green tie looking anxious. "I'm sorry Sparkster, its just that your mom has been acting weird these last couple of days, and I cant help but worry."
Sparkler gently closes the book and faces the earth pony with a scowl. "One don't call me Sparkster, two she's probably just tired from dealing with Dinky's sudden rebellious stage."
"Sweet little Dinky is growing up so fast isn't she?" Sighed The Doctor. "One day she's a sweet little girl and a maturing young lady the next."
"I think you mean filly and mare Doc."
"Whatever." He replied waving a hoof. " And don't call me Doc."
*SLAM*
The Doctor and Sparkler watch as Dinky enter the house looking very upset, she doesn't acknowledge the two and angrily walks upstairs growling.
"Geez what's with her?" Asked the brown stallion.
"Oh I don't know maybe you should you should go and ask her?" Replied Sparkler. "And let me get back to reading."
"Good Idea." He said as he walked upstairs to her room. "Dinky? Dinky are you ok?" He finds her laying down on her bed with her head in a pillow.
"Go away."
The Doctor enters her room and sits on her bed. "Come now Dinky don't be like that." He said softly. "Now what happened? You know that I hate to see you sad."
"I ran into Sweetie Belle today." She replied
The Doctor's eyes widen in realization. "Ah the white unicorn girl right?"
"Filly Doctor."
"Right, anyway didn't Derpy tell you that she didn't want you to quote on quote bash her face in?" He asked
Dinky looks at the earth pony sadly. "I know but, I just hate anypony who messes with my mother."
"I know you do Dinks." He said "But your mother wasn't even upset when she did it, In fact she thanked her, for some reason." He playfully rubs her mane. "But let me tell you that revenge isn't the answer, revenge only breeds hatred."
"Yeah your right Doctor." Dinky said smiling a little bit.
The Doctor gets up from the bed. "Come on Dinky, lets go make Derpy some apology banana muffins."
"Hey Girls I'm back and I brought a friend. " Sweetie Belle said while entering the clubhouse with Button Mash entering behind her.
"Well, well long time no see Button Mash." Greeted Scootaloo.
"Yeah how's your nose." Asked Applebloom. "Are ya feeling better?"
Button Mash gently rubs his nose. "Yeah I'm good. He said. "So I hear that you two are helping Sweetie with her play?"
"That's right, and it will be the coolest thing ever with all the stuff we suggested." Scootaloo said
Sweetie Belle's ears lower in disappointment. "Yeah about that." A loud thunder noise interrupts the white filly. "WHAT THE HAY WAS THAT?!"
The group rushes outside wondering about the loud noise. "Did Rainbow Dash do a Sonic Rainboom again?" Asked Applebloom.
"No." Replied Scootaloo. "Look, there's no rainbow in the sky."
"GUYS LOOK!" Gasped Sweetie Belle.
The four friends look on the ground where a light blue pegasus with a brown mane and wearing a torn black scarf was laying on the ground unconscious.They waste no time to see if this mysterious pony was ok.
"Whoa." Gasped Scootaloo. "He's kinda cute."
"Really Scoots?!" Replied the yellow filly.
"Ugh Applebloom go get some water." Commanded Sweetie Belle. "Button, Scoots help me take him to the clubhouse." Before they can begin their plan the pegasus starts to stir awake.
"Look he's waking up." Noticed Applebloom.
He sits up holding his head. "Augh my head." He groaned as he opened his eyes. "Am I alive?"
"Um hello."
The pegasus pony turns around and sees four other ponies looking back at him. "Um, Hi?" He was a young pegasus and he looked to be around their age but this was a pony that they never saw before.
"Who are you?" Asked Scootaloo eyeing the blue pegasus. "I never saw you around here before, are you new here?"
"Well you can say that." He said. "I'm The Doctor."
