The pony of her dreams

by theMANEman

The morning after

Twilight awoke to the 'real' world, the world of living not dreaming and found herself surrounded by four ponies.
She forgot about the night before when she saw Cadance, her brothers wife and her favourite foal sitter from all those years ago. "Cadence!" she cried hugging her. "How are you."
"Twilight my dear how are you today, are you feeling better now?" Cadences voice was filled with worry and care.
"Yeah I think so, my umm... head feels funny though." Twilight replied happily at first until she realised that she was supposed to be ill after last nights hurried retreat. She did, however jump out of bed with vigour and get down low on to all fours.
Cadance giggled at the smaller pony's antics and joined her almost on the floor. They chanted their song at the same time.
"Sunshine sunshine ladybugs awake, clap your hoofs and do a little shake." Like they always do the two mares laughed like fillies and rolled around giggling for a moment.
"Doctor I believe that miss Sparkle will not be requiring medical attention, you may go." Whilst he was walking away Celestia turned to her protégé, "Well Twilight," said Celestia with a smile, "It appears that your little, dance has cleared up your illness rather well."
"Oh um yes, it seems to have done that doesn't it," replied Twilight sheepishly. Twilight then noticed that Luna and a doctor were also in the room too. "Oh, um good morning princess Luna, h-how was your watch of the night?"
Luna gave Twilight a none too discreet smirk and replied after a second or two. "It was an... eventful night." She saw some discomfort flicker on Twilights face and thought about giving the unicorn an easy reprieve but decided to tease Twilight just a little more. Leaning over the bed she whispered in Twilights ear, careful not to let anypony hear her words. "Last night caused me some considerable excitement," the words whispered lightly in her ear made all the more potent by feeling Luna's soft lips brushing her cheek with every letter.

Twilight dived under her duvet with her face burning red. This uncharacteristic behaviour if her student caused Celestia to magically pull the cover off the bed. With a slight squeal Twilight buried her head under her pillow, her tail firmly wrapped around her rump on to her side. Now quite concerned about Twilight she levitated her off of the bed and brought Twilights face up to her level.
"What in Equestria has gotten in to you Twilight Sparkle," she demanded in her mist stern voice, one capable of making prince Blueblood tremor and change his behaviour.
Twilight still decides to try and fool Celestia and blamed it on not being able to sleep, saying that she had a bad dream. This of course didn't work and earned her a glare for her poor attempt at trying to weasel out of it. Luna was being quietly questioned by the element of love and was looking very uncomfortable.
Celestia's tone softened to the caring voice Twilight knew well. "You don't have to tell me if you really don't want to, I'm just worried about you petal." Twilight was put down back on to the floor and rushed over to hug Celestia.
"Come on sister, that's quite enough questions for one day," Luna turned to Cadance and spoke once again. "You too Cadance, let's leave Twilight alone for a while until lunch."
"OK Luna, I'll catch you two up" princess Mi Amore Cadenza told the royal sisters before turning back to Twilight. "I need a private word with our 'patient'."

After the door had shut behind Celestia and Luna, Cadence rounded on Twilight. "I know what happened last night in your dreams."
Twilight let out a gasp of horror and shock before whispering to Cadance, "how did you-"
"Luna just told me about your dream." She said quickly to save Twilight the trouble of trying to work out what had happened. "Before you say anything you might regret I see nothing wrong with you thinking about her in this way."
"But, but, but you know she's a princess and I can't even look at her without feeling slightly unwell. I want to say things but they can't be said and even if I did say them she'd only laugh at me." Her rant had left Twilight in tears and now she was sobbing uncontrollably for the second time in two days.
"Twilight its okay," Cadance said as she sat down on the bed next to the distraught pony. "Come here," she softly whispered wrapping a hoof around Twilights shoulder. "I won't tell anyone about this, not even Shining."
"Pinkie promise?" Twilight sniffed hopefully.
Cadance gave a small smile and made the oath. "Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye!" she finished the rhyme with gusto. "Tell you what'" she said to the now smiling Twilight, "get yourself cleaned up and we'll all meet you for lunch in twenty minutes."
"OK I'll be there princess Cadance." Twilight was already much happier now that she didn't have to completely hide her feelings. Cadance was about to walk out of the room when Twilight called her back. "Oh and thank you so much, I'm really lucky to have a sister like you."
"Oh Twilight, I'll always be there for you if you need me." And with that Cadance walked out of the room and softly closed the door behind her tri colour tail.
Twilight didn't waste even a second, immediately hopping out if bed and going to the bathroom. She took only a second to glance at herself in the mirror and splash her face with water before coming out and once again sitting in her bed. This time however it was to brush her mane and now she was exited about seeing Luna. Inside her head was bursting with everything she wanted to do with the Alicorn to make Luna happy, like flying through the sky in Pinkie Pie's hot air balloon, or taking her on a walk through the Everfree forest in the moonlight. At that moment she decided that she couldn't wait another day and had to tell Luna how she felt right now. Steeling herself, Twilight forced a grimace on to her face and got up to walk to lunch with the Royal family.

Glancing up at the clock to check the time Twilight almost shrieked when she saw that lunch was due to start in 2 minutes. She dashed out the door to begin the rest of her life.
