Chapter one: Reunion
“And they have HANDS! Real hands! Not hooves like us, Bon Bon, REAL HANDS!” I exclaimed.
My name is Lyra Heartstrings. I am a mare living in Ponyville.
I have a mint green coat, a grayish blue mane with white streaks and my cutie mark is a lyre! Today I am wearing my favorite saddle, Rarity made it for me, it’s dark purple with light green hearts. I love to walk around Ponyville, especially when the pegasus ponies clear all of the clouds away to make way for Princess Celestia’s sun! I love the sun. I also love humans, but I don’t just love them, I’ve seen them.
I once was one.
Me and Bon Bon were talking in her living room. Bon Bon is the only pony I seem to be able to talk about humans with, everypony else just laughs at me.
That is, except for that brown stallion, he just listens, quietly and intently.
I’ve never met him, but he seems nice.
“Lyra, what are hands, and what do they do?” Bon Bon cut off my thoughts.
“Well, hands are like hooves with fingers, and fingers are smaller limbs with joints that are attached to the hand. Normally they are used to grab things.” I replied.
“Can you draw me a picture?” Bon Bon asked.
I drew a picture with my mouth and passed it over to Bon Bon.
“Oh, now I understand. So, they have them on all four legs?” she asked.
I replied, “Humans have arms and legs. Arms are for the hands and legs are for feet.
Feet are like hands but different, they are longer and have shorter fingers called toes. Humans don’t stand on all four legs like us though, they stand up straight.”
As I stood on my hind legs to show Bon Bon how humans walk, my saddle slipped off, caught on a wood splinter, and as I walked forward the delicate fabric ripped.
“Oh no!” I exclaimed. “My saddle!”.
“I’m sure Rarity will make you another one.” Bon Bon reassured me.
We talked for awhile more, about the shape of a human’s ears, and the habits of humans. After that Bon Bon had to work at her candy shop and I didn’t want to lounge around so I went out to shop for a new saddle. On my way through Ponyville I saw the Stallion, the one who listens to me, buying some apples. I stopped him.
“Uh, S..Sir, may I speak to you?” I asked nervously.
“Of course, no need for formality though. I’m John Steed” he replied.
“Oh, I had a friend who went by that name.” I said sadly.
John looked at me with a knowing smile. Why did he though? He didn't know me, or did he? I squinted. The spiky brown mane and tail with the light brown coat, the light blue eyes, his cutie mark an hourglass. An hourglass. My jaw dropped. It was him.
“Doctor!” I squealed, then hugged him and and said “It’s been so long I’ve missed you so much!”
“I’ve missed you too! I had thought you had forgotten about me.” He laughed.
I put on a serious expression and whispered “No, never. I even went in the TARDIS whenever I could find it.”
“Oh really? I thought somepony had been in there once or twice, but I figured it was just my imagination” he told me.
“You must see Bon Bon!” I said excitedly,
“Very true.” He implied.
The Doctor went with me to Rarity’s boutique.
“And there you go!” Rarity said, finishing the last touches on my saddle.
“Thanks” I replied.
When The Doctor and I were about to leave the shop Rarity called my name.
“Oh Lyra! One more thing!” She yelled.
“Oh! Um, you go ahead Doctor I’ll meet you outside.” I told The Doctor.
“Very well then.”He replied, then walked out the door.
After he left Rarity asked “Lyra who was that handsome stallion you were with?”
“Oh, that was The Doctor, a good friend of mine.” I answered.
“The Doctor? Doctor Who?” She wondered.
“Just The Doctor.” I told her.
She squinted her eyebrows in confusion, “Well ok then, come back soon! Especially with that Doctor of yours!” she laughed.
“Bye!” I giggled.
“Bye!” She replied as I walked out the door.
“Ready?” The Doctor asked.
I looked at the clock tower, “Actually we’re late, Bon Bon was expecting me back by the time she got done from work. Lets go!” I told him.
“Allons-y!” He replied. as we headed back to Bon Bon’s house.
“Bon Bon, I have somepony you should meet!” I yelled. Bon Bon ran into the room. “Oh, good you’re back Lyra! Who is...” Bon Bon stared at the stallion, “he?”
“I'm The Doctor” he replied.
“The Doctor, Doctor Who? What is your name?” Bon Bon inquired.
“Just The Doctor. HELLO!” he laughed.
“I've known him for a long time” I told Bon Bon.
“So, this is your marefriend, Lyra?” he joked.
I slapped him.
“How dare you even think we would be... you little! UGH!” I yelled.
“Oww, why does that always happen to me?” he complained.
“Why do you think?” Bon Bon growled angrily.
There was an awkward silence for a moment or two.
“Anyway Doctor, can we go to Earth? ... or is the TARDIS on the friz?” I asked.
“What the heck is Ea....” The Doctor cut off Bon Bon “Actually we can go right now! But remember Lyra, breaking the fourth wall has it’s problems.”
“You think I don't know that?" I sighed, annoyed.
“Well, lets go! ALLONS-Y!” he said.
He then happy-go-luckily trotted out of the room.
As I was about to follow Bon Bon tapped my shoulder.
“I don't trust this stallion Lyra, he seems dangerous” she told me.
The Doctor walked in , tapping his foot.”Hello, are you there? I said allons-y, let’s go!”
The Doctor quickly left the house.
“He is dangerous, but it's worth it.”
I trotted out of the shop, Bon Bon slowly followed.
The Doctor rambled as we walked toward the TARDIS.
“Ah there she is! The TARDIS! I missed you old girl.” The Doctor said to the blue box.
I rubbed the box's blue wood and said “It's been a long time, I've missed her too.”
“A BOX?! YOU EXPECT US TO GET THERE IN A BOX?!" Bon Bon shouted.
“A ship. The TARDIS is a ship.” The Doctor corrected.
“What does TARDIS mean?” she wondered.
“Time And Relative Dimensions In Space.” I answered.
“How do you know?” she asked.
“I used to be the Doctor's companion.” I told her.
“But that box is way too small to go anywhere in! Not to mention that it's a box, it doesn't move.” Bon Bon noticed.
“Why don't you take a look?” The Doctor opened the door and Bon Bon walked in.
“Oh my gosh!” Bon Bon gasped.
The inside of the blue wooden box was much bigger than physically possible, even for Equestria. There was a control panel in the center of the room, the floors were made of glass, and there were halls leading to other rooms. The Doctor and I walked inside.
“Well, let's get this show on the road!” The Doctor exclaimed.
As Bon Bon started to explore the TARDIS The Doctor started to ramble.
“Earth really is a great place Bon Bon, I've been going there even though Lyra couldn't find me, you don't want to meet the aliens that end up on Earth though, Daleks, Slitheens, oh! And there are the living Scarecrow made by the son in the Family of Blood, he was referred to as ‘Son of Mine’. But I've seen some really nice aliens too actually, I am one, don't you think, Lyra?”
The Doctor stared at me.
“Uhh.”
I had no idea what he said but he immediately went on rambling as he got the TARDIS ready to take off. I went to find Bon Bon.
“Ahh, there you are Bon Bon, I was worried you would get lost on the ship.” I said.
“Yeah.” Bon Bon sighed.
“Is there something wrong?” I asked.
“I'm just scared Lyra, I don't know this stallion, and we're going to a place I’ve only heard you talk about Lyra!” Bon Bon explained.
“Well,...”I started, The Doctor cut me off.
"We're live in three... two... one! ALLONS-Y!"
