True evening of grief

The fliers competition, a competition where fliers all across Equestria come and compete. A competition for the pros. Every year, many pegasus's come to compete to be crowned. This year, Twilight Sparkle is in charge of hosting the event for the first time of her time being an Alicorn. However, she, her friends, and many pegasi across the country were hoping for Rainbow Dash to compete. Rainbow competed in the young fliers competition and she was known across Equestria as the mare who can preform Rainbooms. But on this particular day, This very accident changed her life forever.

In a open field in the outskirts of the town of Ponyville, Rainbow was seen soaring through the sky. Today was the biggest day for Rainbow. She was going to train for the fliers competition that is a few days away. Since she won the young fliers competition three in a half years ago, a lot of the contestants were hoping that Rainbow would participate to bring a challenge to the air.

As she was finishing her favorite athletic drink, Twilight looked at her with a smile. Since Twilight and Rainbow had a much closer friendship then the others, Rainbow did a lot of things for her lavender friend who was waiting for the perfect time to repay her. "I hope you win Rainbow. Your a really good athlete you know." Twilight said with a smile.

"Oh, so the princess of friendship is placing a bid on the most awesome pony in equestria?"

"Oh, I know you will win."

With that, Rainbow went into the air. She had to get her stunts right. Many of her stunts wer kinda basic, but were turned into what she call a "Rainbow Dashish" version. She did a barrel roll, summersaults, and various other tricks. As she was practicing in the air, her friends were watching her. They saw she was high in the air. They were wondering if Rainbow will win. "I hope Rainbow wins." Fluttershy said happily.

"Nothing will go wrong Fluttershy. She won't get hurt before the competition."

At that moment, Pinkie started acting weird. Usually the town knows that when Pinkie acts thiss way, it means one of her Pinkie Senses are going off. Twilight noticed. "Pinkie Sense?" Twilight said curiously but saw that Pinkies mane deflated when the sense ended. Usually, this particular Pinkie scent means something serious, and bad is about to happen. "Pinkie?"

"S-something life changing is gonna happen to Dashie now."

The girls then were staring into space. Something bad was gonna happen to Dash? Did Twilight just break murphys law? They were left curious about this. At that moment they heard a scream. They looked up and saw Rainbow Dash. She has lost control of her flying. At that moment, she crashed into a nearby mountain side. She began to slide down and her wings began to started to go to a state that is unspeakable to pegasus. Next thing that happen She flew in the air and hit her groin on a hard rock. She was falling down the mountain side for a minute in a half. As she landed on the ground, she was groaning. At that very moment, all she could see, was nothing but pitch black.

Rainbow was drifting in an out of consciousness. Before she was reawakening, she met Celestia and Lunas cousin, Death, the slicorn grim reaper, who informed Rainbow she is having a near death experience. Rainbow's eyes were opening and closing. Her vision was trying to clear itself. As it became clear, she awoken, only to find that she is in Ponyville Hospital Emergency Room. She noticed her friends were sitting in chairs in the room, but what Rainbow did notice, was Twilight infront of her. "T...Twiilight.." Rainbow said in a quite tone. "Wh-what happened?"

"You got in a horrifying flight accident and had a near death experience. Nurse redheart will explain."

The Nurse then walked in and looked at Rainbow. Rainbow had a look of confusion of what's going on. Redheart cleared her ttroat. "Ms. Dash, you remember all those flight accidents you had previously and your wings healed to their proper state correct?" Redheart asked in a sadden tone.

"Y-yes? Wait, you sounded sad, why?"

Redheart sighed. "I'm very very sorry Rainbow Dash, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like this accident, was a bad one, and it caused you to be grounded for life. I'm very sorry Ms. Dash, but you will never be able to fly again for the rest of your life. I'm sorry."

At this point, Rainbow felt her heart's been broken. She couldn't believe it. At this point, Twilight levitated a letter that she wrote addressed to Princess Celestia for Rainbow to read. Rainbow began to read it.

Rainbow looked at Twilight curiously. The fliers competition was Twilights first competition she'll be hosting since her time as an alicorn. Rainbow knew Twilight would do a great job hosting it. But Rainbow didn't expect Twilight to step down as host due to the accident. Rainbow began to tear up. "Y-y-y-y-y-y-you are willing to stay here in Ponyville?" Rainbow asked shakily.

"You're my friend Rainbow. I would never abandon a friend that got in an accident." Twilight said as she had Spike send the letter.

As Rainbow heard this, she hugged Twilight. As she pulled Twilight into a hug, she heard a noise.

*Crinkle, Crinkle*

Rainbow's ears picked up the noise. "What was that?" Rainbow asked

"Oh...um.... well you see.... Um Nurse Redheart, can you explain what else happened?"

Redheart facehoofed, She totally forgot about the other part. "Ms. Dash I also forgot to mention. We took an X-ray, and image of your body. We examine all parts, none were damage all expect a certain area. In the accident, it seems, you damaged the muscles where your bowels and bladder are."

"What are you.... Wait... are you saying that..."

Nurse Redheart nodded sadly. "The accident caused permanent damaged to the muscles where your bowels and bladder are. I'm sorry Ms. Dash but you are permanently incontinent. You're currently wearing a diaper."

At this point, Rainbow eyes widen. "THIS CAN"T BE HAPPENING, THIS CAN NOT BE HAPPENING!"

Twilight used her magic to create a zipper over Rainbows mouth before she does anything stupid. Twilight looked at Rainbow with a serious look. "RAINBOW! If you don't calm down, you'll be sedated. Calm down."

Rainbow listened and she calm downed. Twilight undid the spell and Rainbow laid down. This seemed like one bad dream, but since she met death, the grim reaper, she knew this wasn't a dream. At that moment, they heard a burp, it was Spike. The letter he received was a top priority letter. Like Twilight's top priority letter, these were serious ones. Twilight began to read.

Through out the day, the group hung in Rainbow Dash's hospital room. Twilight told Rainbow she saved Rainbows life by reviving her. Rainbow was greatful for what Twilight did. The time then came for the group to leave, however since Twilight is a princess of equestria, she has access to Rainbows hospital room 24/7. As they left. Rainbow asked Fluttershy to retrieve some of her precious items from her cloud home. Flutter under stood why. When a pegasus is grounded, they all highly prohibited to be living in a cloud house to avoid killing themselfs by accident.

At that moment, Rarity hit an idea. She asked Twilight to take her to Rainbow's idol, Spitfire. she wanted to get something for her.

Twilight and Rarity arrived at the wonderbolts academy, They never thought of returning their after the stunt Lighting dust pulled. As one of the ponies guessed, Twilight and Rarity were there to visit Spitfire. They were then taken to Spitfire. They were hoping she would understand and help out. They also needed to break the news to her. They approached the door and knocked. "Enter." said the voice.

Twilight and Rarity entered and Spitfire saw it was Twilight. "Oh, Princess Twilight, it's an honor your here." Spitfire said bowing to Twilight. "What can we do for you?"

"It's about Rainbow Dash."

"What about her, she's dropping out?"

Rarity stepped up. "I would like to use the wonderbolts uniform design to create it for Rainbow."

Spitfire's glared at Rarity, like she was trying to commit forgery. "Are you trying to commit forgery?" Spitfire asked sternly. "I want your friend to wait outside Princess Twilight."

Twilight butted in. "You don't understand. We need the design. Rainbow, She got in a flight accident, and is permanently grounded to ground and will never be able to fly for the rest of her life. She's in the hospital right now."

Spitfire gasped in horror. Rainbow, her best recruit, not only that, her fastest flyer, is grounded and in the hospital. Spitfire couldn't believe this. This was a horrifying thing to happen to a pegasus. Not only that, but to a recruit, and to a wonderbolt reserve member. She felt bad for this. It now looks like Rainbow will never be able to achieve her dream. she called her solder in. "Go get Soarin." Spitfire ordered.

"Yes ma'am"

The solder then went his way to go get soarin. few minutes later, Soarin came in a saluted. "Need something?" he asked curiously.

"I need you to put Rainbow Dash's portrait in the hall of fame."

"Why? We don't do that for recruits, but why?"

Spitfire explain what happened and as they guessed Soarin was horrified at what happened. "I will put her portrait in the hall of fame."

"Get going."

Soarin nodded and went his way. As he left, Spitfire went in her drawer and pulled out a copy of the offical design for the wonderbolt uniform, and gave it to them she wrote a note for Rainbow Dash and gave it to them, and she told them to tell Rainbow something for her. The two left the office, and teleported. As they teleported to Rarity's boutique, Twilight looked at her. "I'm going to Rainbow Dash hospital room."

With that Twilight left and flew towards the hospital. As she approached the Hospital, she landed and entered the building. The doctor nodded and let her in. She began to walk to Rainbow's hospital room. As she entered she saw Rainbow Dash, whom was reading her Daring Do book, she guessed Fluttershy bought it to her. Rainbow looked up and smiled at Twilight. "Hey." she greeted.

"Hey Rainbow."

Twilight sat down next to Rainbow and smiled at her. "How you doing?"

"A little good, I kinda have to get used to wearing diapers 24/7."

Twilight brushed Rainbows mane gentaly. She could tell that Rainbow has a lot of fear in her. She could tell she was scared. Her dream was crushed, and worse, her life will never be the same. Rainbow began to cry. "I...I'm scared Twi, what am I going to do?" Rainbow said putting her face in her hoofs.

"Anything you want Rainbow."

Rainbow remained silent as she was pulled into a hug by Twilight. At that point, Twilight realize Rainbow has no place to live now. This scared her. She couldn't let her friend go homeless. "Where are you going to live Rainbow?" Twilight asked while rubbing Rainbows back.

"I-I don't know."

"Why don't you live with me."

Rainbow looked at Twilight with a weird look. She just got an offer to live with her friend. This made her surprised. "You..you mean I could live with you, at your castle?"

Twilight nodded

"Well, since you saved my life. Of course, I would live with you."

Twilight smiled. She then nuzzled Rainbow. As she nuzzled Rainbow, she heard her friends walk in. They were going to visit for the day. At this moment, Twilight had to talk with Rainbows weather patrol boss and explain the situation. She would do that later. Right now, Rainbow was top priority.

It's been a couple of weeks since the accident happened. Rainbow was healing quick like lighting hitting a tree in the everfree forest. Twilight went to Rainbows weather patrol boss and told her what happened, she was feeling sorry for Rainbow and will send her retirement checks to her for what she done all this time. Twilight also had to go to Cloudsdale to talk to the pony with Rainbows house contract, which they had to have Rainbow sign it, which she did at the hospital. Next, Twilight went to Rainbows parents house, and explained what happened to them, Rainbows little sister made something for her, even though Rainbows sister was young, she knew that Rainbow would never be able to fly due to the accident.

Now it was the day of Rainbows release. The doctors were preparing to have Rainbow release. After the final check up, they gave Rainbow a take home wheel chair. As she came out, Her friends were happy to see her. Twilight hugged Rainbow. "Now, let's get you to your new home." Twilight gleed

"There is absolutely no way I'm leaving when my diaper is visible to everyone."

Rarity then gave Rainbow a box. Rainbow guessed it was a dress. She was praying it wasn't the same one like the time Rarity was under the influence of Dark Magic. As she opened the box, inside the box, was something Rainbow would never thought to expect, a wonderbolts uniform. But she saw a note. She picked up the note and began to read it.

As Rainbow finished reading the letter. She began to tear up. Twilight helped Rainbow put it on without causing pain. As it was on, Twilight looked at Rainbow with a smile. "Now you look awesome. Now you don't have to worry about your diaper being visible. I will only let you wear it outside. Just, so nopony notices."

With that, the mane six headed their ways. Twilight pushed Rainbow the whole time to her Twilights castle. They were praying for Scootaloo not to notice. Rainbow vowed she will tell Scootaloo when she is fully recovered. At that moment, they arrived at Twilights castle. As they entered,Twilight wheeled Rainbow to the stairs. She then hooked the belt to Rainbow to make sure she doesn't fall out/ As she reached the top, she took Rainbow to her new bedroom. As they entered Rainbow saw that it looked like her old one. It had a cloud bed, and lots of other things, even a bookshelf. Rainbow noted that all her Daring Do books were on the shelve, even one book she kept private, her diary. But she was relieved when Twilight told her Fluttershy didn't look in it. As she got off the wheel chair, Twilight helped Rainbow take off her custom made wonderbolts uniform off, making her diaper visible. She hung it in the closet and helped Rainbow onto the bed. "Now, Rainbow, you realize you will be up in your new room for while until you healed enough to go anywhere, correct?" Twilight asked.

"I kinda guessed that was going to happen."

"Well, if you want anything, ring this bell that's on your nightstand and I will be here. If you need air, you can go on the balcony and sit on the chair that's out there."

"O..okay."

Twilight smiled at her friend. She hopped on the bed and put a gentle hoof on her friend. She nuzzled her friend, causing her to blush. "Also Rainbow, you realize you won't be able to use the toilet anymore due to you being incontinent, right?"

This made Rainbow feel a chill. Not being able to use the bathroom anymore will be the hardest thing to face. She looked down, and noticed her diaper was yellow, indicating, she just had an accident. Tears began to form in her eyes. When seeing this, Twilight pulled Rainbow into a hug. "Rainbow, you don't need to worry, I'll change you." Twilight murmured

Twilight led Rainbow to an area in Rainbows new room. She laid on the mat, and Twilight took off the wet diaper and dematerialized it. She got the powder and began to clean Rainbow to prevent infection and a rash. After that, she put a clean diaper on Rainbow and made sure to put it on right. With that, she helped Rainbow back on the bed. At that moment, Twilight heard Rainbows stomach growl. She guessed she was hungry. "You want something from The Hay Burger?"

At this point, Rainbow began to get scared. "Tw...Twi, please, don't leave me."

"Rainbow, I won't I will have Spike get us food."

"Ok..... Sure, I could go for a hay burger after eating nasty hospital food."

Twilight nodded and call for Spike. Spike came in and saw Twilight and Rainbow. He knew that Rainbow was going to be living with them for now on. "Spike, I need you to go to The Hay Burger, Pick us up some hay burgers, and something to drink. I'm gonna remain here with Rainbow. Do you understand?" Twilight said.

"Yes Twilight, I'll see if Rarity will help me."

Twilight nodded and Spike went on his way. Twilight knew she can't leave Rainbow alone for the time being. Despite how heartbroken Rainbow is, and that her dream has been destroyed, Twilight knew she has to be with Rainbow. Not only because she had a secret hidden from her, but she was very scared her best friend was going to die that very day the accident happened. Twilight decided to stay in Rainbows room and be with her for the day. She knew this was the best solution for right now.
