//------------------------------// // Prologue: Goodbye // Story: Forever // by AmethystFire //------------------------------// Out on the beach in Equestria, Roseluck franticly looking around for the doctor after a dream told her to come to this specific beach, at this specific time, on this specific date. The wind was blowing and the waves going back and fourth like they normally do. Soon there was a noise, a noise Rose could never forget; the sound of the TARDIS. A light brown, with a darker brown maned stallion shadow showed up on the sandy ground. "Where are you?" Roseluck asked as she faced the shadow. "Inside the TARDIS." the doctor responded, " There's one little tiny gap in the universe left, just about to close. And it takes a lot of power to send this projection. I'm in orbit around the super nova. I'm burning up a sun just to say goodbye." Roseluck stared at the shadowy figure of the stallion that took her places, to see the world. The stallion that was always there when she needed him, and let her take the stallion that she loved before him. Rose squinted at him, trying to make out the doctor. "You look like a ghost." Rose informed. "Hold on." the doctor responded. Grabbing his sonic screwdriver, he turned the top to the setting that he wanted. Then raised it to the center of the TARDIS, trying to make his body more clear to her. Which helped a lot. Rose slowly trotted to him and raised her hoof to the doctor's face. "Can I tou-" Rose asked. The doctor slightly shook his head, "I'm still just an image. No touch." Rose stood there frozen, staring at the doctor's realistic looking face, as if she could touch him still no matter what he said. "Can't you come through properly?" Roseluck asked. "The whole thing would fracture." the doctor answered, "Two universes would collapse." "So?" Rose looked around, like she was upset with him, but inside, she wasn't. The doctor looked at Roseluck, then looked around at the surroundings where she was. "Where are? Where did the gap come out?" the doctor asked Rose. "We're in Las Pegasus." Rose answered. "Las Pegasus right." "About fifty miles out from the main city." The doctor nodded, and looked at Rose. She looked at him and started to tear up. "How long have we got?" Rose asked trying to catch her breath. "About two minutes." he answered. Rose put her hoof to her mane, moving it to the side, and smiled a bit. "I can't think of what to say." Rose responded. The doctor laughed, Rose smiled a bit, but not enough to stop the tears from coming. The both of them were silent for a long period of time, looking at each other, knowing that this was their last chance to see each other. The doctor looked up and saw Mickey, Mickey Smith. "You still got Mr. Mickey, then." The doctor mentioned. "Well, there's five of us now. Mum, Dad, Mickey, and the baby." Rose explained.\ "You're not?" "No," Rose laughed, "It's mom. She's three months gone, more Tyler's on the way." "And what about you? Are you-" Rose nodded her head knowing what he was asking her, "Yeah, I'm back working in the shop." The doctor nodded his head, still attentively listening to Rose talk, "Oh good for you." "Shut up..." Rose shook her head, "No I'm not. There's still a Torchwood on this planet. It's open for business. I think I know a thing or two about aliens." The doctor smiled at his companion, "Rose Tyler, defender of the Earth!" They were silent again for a period of time. "You're dead. Officially back home." the doctor broke the silence, "So many ponies died that day and you've gone missing." Rose's eyes widened, but she knew that she was considered dead there. Running her hoof across her face and mane. "You're on a list of the dead." the doctor continued, "Here you are, living a life day after day. The one adventure I can never have." "Am I ever going to see you again?!" Roseluck tried to ask without sounding like she was going to lose her cool. "You can't." Rose looked at her hooves; then looked back up at the doctor, "What're you going to do?" "Oh, I've got the TARDIS. Same old life, last of the Time Lords." Rose stared at the doctor, sniffing up a big stream of snot that ran down her face, "On your own." There was a silence again. Rose had just lost it at this point. "I..." Rose took a deep breath trying to get the words out, "I love you." The doctor nodded, "Quite right, too." Rose had tears still streaming down her face, snot streaming along side the tears. "And I suppose," the doctor continued, "if it's one last chance to say it..."
