//------------------------------// // Chapter 1a. Left Door // Story: Translation? // by Oculus //------------------------------// I opened my eyes to take in my surroundings and immediately regretted my decision. I screamed out as loud as my lungs would allow, hoping someone would save me, or put me out of my misery. I clenched my eyes shut and braced for impact. Something hard hit me in the chest, making all the breath leave my lungs as electricity was shot through every inch of my body. I cringed as I coughed up a little blood and attempted to scream again, only managing a squeak. The doctor who had just used the defibrillator on me jumped back, surprised at the previously deceased child screaming in his face. Wiping the blood from my lips with a shaky hand I looked around the room filled with pale faced nurses and doctors. I was about to ask what was wrong when another series of coughing fits hit me, bringing up more blood with them. I fell back down onto the pillow, suddenly too weak to even sit up. Glancing down at my torso I saw a bulge in my right side. When I shivered from the cold air blowing on me I cried out in pain again, feeling like I had been stabbed in the side. After ten minutes of the doctors explaining that a malfunction in the machine had caused my appendix to rupture and my kneecap to jar out of place again they asked me to lay back down and rest. I sighed and shifted, sending another shot of pain through my side. Why did this have to happen to me? I was so close to completing my form. My father would have finally been proud of me! Tears threatened to escape but I forced them down. I was going to at least take this like a man, I didn't want my dad to walk in on me crying, I would never hear the end of it. My eyes began to feel heavy and I wanted to resist, to stay up a bit longer in case my mom came in to see me, but I was just so tired. Just a quick nap, only a few minutes. I need to rest and keep my strength up so I can go back and earn my belt. I slowly closed my eyes and let the blissful wave of sleep overtake me. I felt all of my muscles relax and my breathing slow before the darkness washed over me. ... ... ... BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP...
