//------------------------------// // The First and Only Chapter // Story: A Mother's Day Surprise // by SkyPieIsTheBest //------------------------------// I look out the window, to see nothing but cold. It may be spring, but the weather ponies haven’t put in a warm day yet. My eyes stretch wide open when I see my daddy flying down from the sky. I smile and push my nose to the window. I see him smile, and he runs up. He touches his nose to the glass in front of mine. I jump to the door as he opens it. I look at him, and I grab a blank piece of paper. “I thought we cud draw mom a pictue!” I say, my voice muffled through the paper. He smiled at me, and patted my head. I look at the blank piece of paper, and I start to draw a picture. I start with my mother’s mane. The dark blue outline was the very beginning to my beautiful picture. I then put the bright blue inside. I put on her body, and the pink filling. Then I attempt the cutie mark, but put pink back over it with my crayon so no one can see it. I put me and dad next, and I wait. The cool air of the wind floating inside; tomorrow it’s supposed to rain, but no pony thinks it will be too bad. “Dashie,” says my daddy when I start to get bored staring out the window. “I think we should go to the park. It’s not too cold outside, and it’s going to be freezing tomorrow.” I smile and nod. Mommy shouldn’t be back until much later. “Wait!” I yell. “I want to add something to my picture. You can go.” I grab my glitter glue and I spread it around the page. I get some on the floor and on my hooves, but I don’t think anyone will mind. I put on the last puff of the glittery dust, and I leave, not knowing I am tracking blue and green glitter prints behind me. I see the clear blue sky on the horizon, and I see the clouds that Pegasus’s lived on for centuries. There were little fillies, just about my age, flying into the park with their mothers. I look at my daddy and I frown. “Daddy,” I say, and he looks down at me. “Can you pretend to be mommy; I don’t want to be the only filly without a mommy at the park.” He smiled, and shook his head. “I’m sorry, but I can’t,” he says, and I frown when I see even Fluttershy and her mother, Scarlet. “I don’t think anyone would be fooled. Even by the greatest pony prankster in pegasus history!” He takes his hoof, and rubs it on my head. I smile, and I fly down to the park. I see Fluttershy and I smile. “Fluttershy,” I yell, waving my hoof, but she doesn’t see me. “Fluttershy, please turn around, it’s Dashie!” I see her turn again, and she laughs with her mother. Her eyes that is not covered is closed happily, tears of happiness streaming down her face. I smile at her and I turn to my dad. “Can we go to the swings?” I ask happily and he nods. I flap my wings, and maneuver towards the swing. I sit on it, and flap my wings again. I smile, my eyes closed as I pretended I was a wonder bolt. Then somepony stopped me. It was Hoops and Score, and they smiled at me menacingly. I growled something underneath my breath. I look at their eyes, and I see taunting and hate. “What do you want?” I ask. “Are you still dreaming of being a wonder bolt?” asked Hoops. “You know, that one’s a little old. How about the dream where I throw you off a cliff!” Then I hear a deeper voice behind me. “How about the nightmare where I tell your mothers that you are taunting Rainbow Dash!” said my father, and he turned in front of me. “Where are they anyway?” Hoops rubbed the back of his head. “Their at home, umm, baking cookies!” he said. Score smiled. “We better go see them, bye!” he said quickly and they ran off. Daddy snorted and he turned towards me as I sniffled and cried. “Oh, its okay, Dashie,” he says. “How about we get some ice cream and go see if mommy’s home?” I look at him for a moment, and I wipe my nose. “Okay,” I say, and I get up off the ground. We go to my favorite ice cream parlor and I but my favorite ice cream rainbow swirl with a cherry on top. I eat the cherry, and then dig into the rainbow swirl. “Alright,” says daddy. “Let’s get home, or else mommy will be wondering what happened to us.” We fly home, and I hear glass break. “Firefly!” my dad yelled. She ran outside, and looked at me. “Have you seen the house!” she screamed. “It’s a mess! I cleaned it just this morning and now it’s ruined!” My dad nodded, and I looked inside. The glitter prints were everywhere, and the picture was on the wall, hanging from a pin. “I’m sorry, mommy,” I say. “This is my fault. I’ll clean it up.” She looked at me. She smile, and touched her nose to mine. “I can never stay mad at you. But c’mon and help me clean it up.” I jump up and grab a mop. It cleans up the glitter, and I see the picture hanging on the wall. “It’s a beautiful picture,” my mommy said. “I think we should hang it up on the door so we never lose it, and so everyone can see it always.” She looks at me, and I take it from the wall. I nod, and I take some tape. I ripped it out of the container and I put it on some of the paper. The door closed as my mommy stepped outside to admire it. She brought me in, and baked me some cookies.
