//------------------------------// // Unfair Judgement // Story: A true Redemption // by Stormhoof //------------------------------// Luna strode through the streets of Canterlot, Browsing any interesting shops that she might find. She had finally had a chance to take leave from her royal duties to just relax, but all was not well, the citizens of Canterlot could be heard mumbling to themselves as Luna passed them, Each wearing a nasty look on their face if she attempted eye contact. It had come to be expected, she knew it would take time for her to gain the trust of all of Equestria. By this time no less then three shops had randomly closed for the day, two others outright refused service saying that she was "Frightening all the customers" no matter how empty the shop may be. She sighed, it was not like her to take such things so personally but it was hard to ignore overhearing "There is that demon again, Perhaps we should go indoors". Still she kept her head up, she was aware that the people of Canterlot are inherently judgmental. The princess of the moon wandered into Pony Joes Donut shop,on of the very few places that let her in without hesitation. Luna approached pony Joe at the front counter and took a seat looking around idly, enjoying the simple layout of the small donut shop. "We would like a blueberry-jelly filled donut please" Luna said pointing to a blue frosted donut that even had small amounts of the jelly leaking out. Pony Joe gave her a smile sliding her a plate of three donuts. "They're on the house today Princess, You look a little troubled, anything you wanna talk about?" Said the nice hearted shop owner. He had seen her a few times and today he could tell that she was bugged about something. "We...would rather not discuss it...But we thank you for asking...'Tis a long week so far, it is good to be asked how we are." Luna finished taking a bite of the donut, looking about at the not-so-busy shop. Although this was possibly her favorite place in Canterlot, she simply wished a few of the other shopkeepers would at least be courteous enough to let her browse. Looking down Luna noticed she was already halfway through her second donut, she blushed slightly having zoned out for a few moments. She finished her Donut, starting on her third with a weak smile. There was so much fun to be ad if the citizens would only give her a chance. She took her final bite of the donut, slid the plate forward and left 5 bits saying "We thank you very much Joe, We found them to be as delicious as always." leaving before he could object to the tip. Thinking over anything she might need she walked into a jewelry store, the Owner of which glared at er as if she had been struck with the plague. Shrinking under the glare a bit she browsed the wares spotting a particularly nice Topaz encrusted horn ornament. Before she could get in line somepony jumped in front of her to ask about the same piece. "That there is 500 Bits." the clerk said with a small grin, the pony in line quickly reconsidered and stepped out of Lunas way looking a bit intimidated. Luna pointed at the "Hornament" asking to confirm the price she just heard. Giving Luna a look that would kill a cockatrice the shopkeeper said "For you that would be 1500 Bits" the tone in the shopkeepers voice was almost a challenge. However Luna had only brought about 1000 Bits with her as she had not expected to buy anything so nice. "We are very sure thou told the one in line before us that the price was 500." Luna did not want to sound argumentative but given the situation she could forgive herself for taking an angry tone. The jewelry would be a perfect gift for Celestia. "1500 final, either pay up or get out of my shop princess " The shopkeeper finished with obvious venom in her voice. Luna being taken slightly aback could think of nothing else to do but walk back to the palace, disappointed. Hanging her head low and sniffling lightly she made her way back to the royal grounds, Trying to keep her eyes from watering, which proved a hard task indeed. She avoided all eye contact, all she wanted was to lock herself away. She was a princess who was quite rudely sent away from a rather well respected shop. Princesses weren't to be treated like that, even common thieves have been shown more respect. Did her subjects think of her as less than a common thief? ----------------------------------------------------------- Luna had spent the rest of the day in her room, crying quietly to herself. She had ordered all her guards to meaningless tasks to keep them away. This was the first time in quite awhile she had ever felt this terrible about herself. Breaking into another fit of sobbing she spoke to herself "w-why...Are our subjects s-so cruel...Are we not a good princess since we have returned?" her sobbing was quiet but the pain in her words was magnified in her mind. *Knock Knock* Luna ignored the knock to her door, simply sniffling as the sobs subsided. *Knock Knock Knock* Again Refusing to Acknowledge it she buried her face into her pillow. "Sister? Luna? Are you well? You have not left your room since you returned from town." Came Celestias Voice. A short sigh from Luna, Perhaps she should tell her elder sister what transpired... Or how she felt like she had been treated as trash since her return? Or even that she wished there was a way to gain respect? Now was as good of a time as any to Talk about it she supposed. "C-come in Sister." was all luna could choke back as she fought back the last wave of sobs... ------------------------------------------------------ Author note: This is my Very first Luna fic, Please rate, comment and track...I truly hope I can do her character justice :)
