“Excuse me Luffy, did I just hear you right… saying about kicking his ass!?” asked Applejack.
“Yep! Come on, how tough can he be?” Luffy said.
“Luffy, you can be such a big idiot sometimes…” said Nami.
“He’s more than a challenge Luffy, he’s almost as strong as me…” said Celestia.
Twilight couldn’t believe her ears, that monster as strong as her mentor and raiser of the sun? Impossible! She thought within her mind as Celestia explained.
“I believe it’s time I start I explaining on how Sombra became the monster you all know.” Celestia said. She closed her eyes as if to force memories from the backs of her mind, something she had rarely done.
“You see, before he was the tyrant of the Crystal Empire over a 1,000 years ago” she breathes in “he was my first student I took under my wings and closest being I had to a son.” Everyone was breathless at the revelation…Sombra was considered as Celestia’s son!?
A flashback appears in Celestia’s mind as she continued her story…
In front of the castle gates in the dead of night, a foal with jet black mane and gray coat was crying out. Wrapped in a protective blanket with a note pinned on it, it is approached by rulers of Equestria: Celestia and Luna.
“You see, 500 years after we’ve defeated the being Discord, the foal simply named Sombra appeared in front of the castle gates. He was a little thing, just born maybe, my sister and I immediately took him in to raise and care for him.
Years past as the scene changes revealing a 10-year-old Sombra with his red eyes immersed in books labeled with advanced levels in magical arts and already practicing magic. ‘Tia! Check out this new spell I found!!’ he summons a teddy bear out of thin air and levitiates it. A warm smile only appears the ruler of the sun. ‘you’re progressing so much child. I’m proud to call you my student!’ and Sombra only says ‘when I grow up, I wanna be just like you!!’
“he was a genius in magic, he would read entire volumes in mere days and grew more and more powerful every week.”
“Almost like me” Twilight thought in her head.
“When he said he wants to be like me, I pushed him on, making him learn countless spells and other magic.
The scene changes again revealing a teenage Sombra focused in a book. His eyes extremely focused and face revealing determination. ‘There must be a way, I don’t want to have Tia lose me’. He uses his magic to toss the book into the large, already read, pile of books. Celestia comes in with a slightly worried look ‘Is something wrong Sombra? You look tired, maybe you should rest’ ‘No Tia, I want to be by your side always… I want to become immortal so that you won’t have to suffer losing me’
“I should’ve suspected something when he started looking for ways to become immortal. He eventually started to become more and more power hungry rather than use magic for my emotional sake”
The scene changes one more time with a furious adult Sombra confronting Celestia. ‘Don’t you get it!!? To become immortal I need power!! Make me an alicorn so that I may be immortal!!’ yelled Sombra. ‘That is enough Sombra!! Your fear of death and lust for power is no longer welcome in this castle! I’m sorry Sombra, but by my order I have you expelled from Canterlot!!’ Sombra’s eyes widen, he gritted his teeth and just about the royal guards were about to move in he yells “I HATE YOU I HOPE YOU DIE!’ and teleports to a distant location.
“His words stung me, seeing someone I’ve raised since he was a foal yelling that he hates you brought me to tears. He disappeared for a few years until…”
The scene changes for a final time as a royal guard runs down the royal hall “Your highness, the Crystal Empire has fallen to a terrifying tyrant!!’ Celestia and Luna are shocked by the news, although Luna seems slightly more depressed in recent years, ‘who has taken over such a large nation in just one day!?’ the guard tells the name ‘Sombra…he has hidden the crystal heart and enslaved all of the crystal ponies!’ Celestia gasps. The two sisters then teleport to the empire with the elements of harmony only to find a horrid state as all ponies were chained and marching in a depressed state with all of the surrounding crystal bulidings and tower consumed by dark black crystals. ‘Hello Tia, it has been a long time..’ Sombra appears much more sinister looking donning a red cloak, a crown and his eyes now emitting dark magic with the colors of green purple and black along with a dark shadowy aura surrounding his body. ‘You don’t have to do this’ ‘It’s already been done…teacher’ He lets out a demonic roar causing black crystals to spear towards the two sisters.
“The rest as you know Twilight is history…”
With tears starting to form in her eyes, Celestia’s face then turns to determination. “I don’t want to make the same mistakes again, not with Sombra, not with Luna, and not with you Twilight. I want to right the wrongs I’ve done over the years and end Sombra once and for all. The kingdom of Equestria and my services are by your side Monkey D. Luffy!”
A knock is heard outside the door of the medical room
“Hello? Is Princess Celestia here? I need to speak with her” and then enters a light-blue unicorn with a purple wizard cap and cape.
The ponies except Chrysalis , Luffy and Celestia gasp “Trixie!?”
“Trixie!? What are you doing here?!” asked Twilight.
“Are you here to show off or be a jerk and nearly enslave Ponyville again!?” Rainbow Dash said as she flew right up to the light blue unicorns face.
Fearful, the unicorn backed away a little before Princess Celestia intervened. Holding up her hoof before Rainbow Dash as if she was calling off an attack.
“It’s all right Rainbow, this is Trixie I presume, the former bearer of the dark alicorn amulet?”
Trixie looked down to the floor in shame; remembering what she had done nearly causing complete misery to the ponies of Ponyville as she ruled as the towns dictator.
“I’m not proud for what I have done, that amulet kept on forcing me to the extra mile. At first I wanted to show up Twiliight, but the magic in that thing led me to banish her, then to conquer Ponyville, if I had not taken it off when Twilight and her friends tricked me, I would’ve gone completely power hungry!”
Needless to say, Twilight wasn’t sure how to feel with Trixie’s arrival. Though she had forgiven her since the Alicorn Amulet incident, she’s not sure whether to still call her a rival, a friend, or just a regular unicorn trying to make a living.
“Why are you here Trixie?” asked Twilight.
“You see….about a few days ago, I’ve started having nightmares. They keep on getting worse as I see them. My point of view is horrible as I turn angry ponies & griffons into horrible monsters! I didn’t know what to do, I always woke up in a cold sweat, but there was a recurring theme in the nightmares…black crystals.”
“If I didn’t know better….I think you’re sharing Sombra’s mind and you’re witnesses his construction of his army!”Nami said.
“This is bad, Sombra has already made his armed forces, no doubt through his dark magic….but perhaps we can use you Trixie!” Celestia said.
Trixie stepped back a little, unsure how to react. Sure it was nice to be some help but to be used is another matter. In response, she looked down as if ready to cry.
“Are you going to toss me away, like I’m some kind of used tool?” she asked with tears forming in her eyes
“No…no Trixie, we’re not like that! Perhaps it was a bad choice of words from the princess’s part. What we are really asking is that, we could use your help.” Rarity said.
Trixie slowly lifted her head, and looked up to the Mane 6, and then to Luffy, then to Chrysalis, and finally to Celestia. Her head was down as well as if to apologize to the poor choice of word she had spoken to the unicorn. She breathed in, and then back out and Trixie’s face changes to determination.
“Okay….I’ll do it, the Great and Powerful Trixie is at your service!”
“I’m in too” Chrysalis says “I may not be able to fight, but I can still at least provide my knowledge of the Changelings for you. I won’t to get back at Sombra for destroying my hive”
“All right!! I’m pumped up! Today we are no longer rivals or enemies. We all have a common enemy andI don’t want to see this place ruined by some crazy horse who thinks he’s king of everything. Let’s do this!!!”
And with that, the stage is set for a powerful showdown between the ponies of Equestria and the dark evil forces of Sombra.
