That Faint Memory

Introduction

Today was just like any other day for Applejack. It was later in the afternoon. The sun was out, there was a small breeze, and life was perfect for her. Her Daddy was out in the field bucking apple trees with Big Mac, Mommy was in the kitchen making a snack for them, and she was playing in her tree house with some of her friends. Her friends were Rainbow dash, and Rarity. Her dad's name was Golden Jack. He was the best daddy ever. He was strong, caring and humble. Until Big Mac was big enough, he work the farm alone. Applejack wished she could be like her father when she grew up. Her mothers name was Pink Lady. She was the best mommy and an amazing cook. She made the best pies and she cared about everyone. She had been looking out the window, observing the farm when she looked back at her two friends.

"I think today will be very fun!" Said Rarity.

"Eeyup. What do ya want ta do, Rainbow?" Asked Applejack, as she walked over to them.

"I say we get a snack first." Said Rainbow Dash.

"Yes, lets get lunch" agreed Rarity.

They all walked out of the clubhouse and smelt a wonderful aroma.

"*Sniff* Wow! That smells great! Let's race to the house!" Challenged Rainbow Dash.

"Oh you are on!" Said Rarity.

"Sure thing, sugarcube!" Said Applejack.

They formed a line in the dirt with a stick, indicating the start line. They all lined up, one hoof on the line the others behind. Applejack stretched lightly as she felt the breeze tangle her mane. Rainbow dash was stretching her wings and popping some joints. No one said no wings. She thought as she chuckled under breath. Rarity was brushing her mane and tail. Both Applejack and Rainbow stared at Rarity for a moment then burst out laughing. Rarity looked at them rolling on the dirt laughing and scrunched her nose.

"What's so funny?" asked Rarity. The two just kept laughing. Once they finally regained their posture, Applejack blurted out,

" This is a race, not a beauty pageant!" Then she started laughing again.

" Yeah..... Why do you..... want your.... hair all pretty.... when it's just..... gonna get...... messy again?" asked Rainbow through laughs.

After the fillies regained their posture they lined up again.
"On your mark! Get set! Go!" Shouted Rainbow Dash. Two of the three fillies started to run. The other zoomed into the air, then straight to the house.

" Hey, ya can't use your wings!" Applejack yelled out in anger. Her and Rarity kept racing each other, dodging branches and rocks.
Rainbow had already made it to the house and smiled as Applejack and Rarity came up, completely out of breath.

"Looks like I won." Bragged Dash while doing a few tricks in the air.

"Ya....can't....use your....wings!" Wheezed Applejack.

"Yes..... that is...... down right.....cheating." Said Rarity through breaths.

"You never said I couldn't use my wings." Argued Dash.

"Let's just get...a snack." Said Applejack, finally catching her breath. When they got inside, they all sat down. The aroma of fresh apple pie filled the air. Dash licked her lips as Applejack's mom came in with a fresh apple pie. She carefully set it down and cut a few pieces for the fillies.

"Thanks, Ma!" Said Applejack.

"Yeah.Thanks, Mrs. Apple!" Said Dash.

"Yes! Thank you, Applejack's Mom!" Said Rarity. Rainbow and Applejack dug into their pie, but Rarity did otherwise. She grabbed a napkin and elegantly folded it on her lap. Then she grabbed a fork and knife and cut a small piece of pie.
While they finished eating, they all thought about what to do after lunch. When they all finished, everybody was in their own thoughts. Applejack finally spoke up.

"So what do ya'll want to do now?" Asked Applejack.

"Hey, let's go into the Everfree Forest!" Said Rainbow in a spooky voice.

"Pa says not to go there." Said Applejack.

"What are you? A Chicken?" Teased Rainbow as she started to do the chicken dance.

"Ah'm not a chicken!" Pouted Applejack.

"Then prove it. Go into the Everfree with me." Dared Rainbow.

"And me." Chirped Rarity.

Applejack thought about it for awhile. Ah can't disobey Pa, but I don't wanna be called a chicken by Rainbow. Maybe just one time. She thought to herself. He'll never know..... right? She pondered her thoughts a few more moments before saying,

" Fine. Jus ta prove ya wrong."

" Alright" Cheered Rainbow.

"Let's go then." Said Applejack. The trio then headed to the Everfree forest.
