Why Did I Fall In Love With Her?

Chapter 1

“How dare you insinuate such a thing!” yelled a shocked and hurt Rarity.

It was another heated and dramatic argument between Rainbow Dash and Rarity. With two strong personalities in a relationship, it was bound to happen often.

“I’m just telling it like it is! All you do is make dresses and hang-out with your fancy, uncool and not awesome friends!” yelled Dash, blunt.

“This business that I am in is dependent on those ‘not awesome’ friends!” snarled an annoyed Rarity. “They’re the ones that usually wear clothes!”

“And what about that Hoity Toity?” that name left a bad taste in Dash’s mouth.

“What about him?”

“I've seen the way he made googly eyes at you, staring up and down your flank!” warned the pagasus.

“He’s a good friend and benefactor and nothing more!” defended the unicorn.

“That’s what he wants you think!” yelled a very concerned Dash.

“You know darling,” started Rarity. “every time I hang around with a stallion...you automatically believe that they just want to rut me.”

“Not all the time!”

“It has been that way since our experimenting with threesomes turned sour!”

“Well...it’s not my fault that Thunderlane couldn't keep up with us!” Dash still had very embarrassing memories of that time.

“You were the one that chose him!”

“Look,” she changed the subject. “I just worry about you okay...we haven’t been spending time as we usually do.”

“Those costumes for Sapphire Shore’s upcoming spring concert tour aren't going to make themselves...I work my rump off everyday to meet my clients demanding standards!”

“All you do is focus on work!” Dash exclaimed. “We haven’t had a quiet romantic time with each other in weeks and the last time we done it was five days ago...which by our standards is a REALLY long time!”

“Not my fault my workload increased.” Rarity stated before she turned her attention to the dresses she was suppose to work on.

“But what about me?!” yelled the cyan mare.

“To be honest...that’s the thing about you Dash...it’s always about you!” bluntly stated the unicorn as she began resuming her work.

“Look who’s talking!”

Rarity was offended. “Me?”

“It’s all” began to mimic Rarity’s voice. “‘Oh! My life is so ruined! I just want to wallow in whatever ponies wallow in!’ or ‘this is the worst possible thing ever! It’s too hot! It’s too cold! My nice pedicured hooves are ruined! Wah wah wah!”

“Oh well it’s not like you’re any better!” snarled Rarity back, it was her turn to mimic Dash’s voice. “‘I am so awesome, I am so cool, I can break the sound barrier and I can do things in ten seconds flat!”

“All you do is whine!”

“All you do is boast!”

They both leered at each other, each of them snorted with anger.

“I don’t know why I even thought about starting a relationship with you!” snarled Dash.

“I was wondering the same thing.”

“Well you know what?” growled the pegasus.

“What?”

“Buck this! We are through! Done! Finished! No more!”

“We are fini!” added Rarity.

“Ugh...you and your stupid Prench...I hate it!”

“Oh yeah?!” snarled Rarity. “Here some more, Casse-toi salope!”

“I don’t even know what that means! But I do know it means something offense!” barked Dash. “Forget this...I’m out of here if you really feel that way!”

“FINE! GOOD RIDDANCE!” mocked Rarity.

“FINE!” Dash then saw a dress on a ponykin. “And here’s what I think of your dresses!” the cyan mare ripped the dress off the ponykin, threw it on the ground and stomped all over it.

“DASH!”

Dash grabbed a piece in her mouth and ripped the dress to shreds.

“NO!!!” Rarity used her magic to throw Dash against the wall. She ran to what was left of the dress.

Dash was a bit dazed, but got up.

"GET OUT! NOW!!!!" angrily screamed the unicorn.

"I WAS JUST ABOUT LEAVE!" snapped the pegasus back as she walked out of the boutique and slammed the front door shut.

Rarity gave a snort. "Why I fell in love with her I have no idea."

Sunset, and Dash landed on a cloud over Ponyville, she needed time alone and did not want anypony to see what she was about to the next; start crying.

"Why must she be so snobby!? Why does she always put work first...I'm her marefriend for buck's sake! She should pay more attention to me and not those big fancy stuck-up jerks!" she cried.

She repeatedly pounded her hoof on the cloud. "Forget it...me and her were never meant to be...being with her was a mistake and a waste of my life!" the cloud turned dark as rain fell down from it.

"Why did I fall in love with her again?" she asked herself.

"Oh Dash, I'm so sorry about what happened." apologized Rarity as she wrapped a bandage around Dash's broken wing.

"Don't be...that storm came out of nowhere...no need to apologize." Dash was angry at herself for not being able to control that storm properly. She worried about whether her wing would heal properly.

"There," finished the unicorn. "All bandaged up, but you should go see a doctor about this once the storm lifted." Rarity looked towards the window to see a really stormy night outside.

"I guess I am spending the night here then." sighed Dash.

Rarity felt bad, but at least she had something that would cheer the pegasus up, she walked into the kitchen to get it.

"Want some?" spoke Rarity as Dash suddenly saw a mug of cider floating in front of her.

"You have cider? I never pictured as a pony who would have cider in their home." the cyan pagasus was in disbelief, but accepted the drink regardless.

"I always have cider ready in case a friend wanted to spend the night." smiled the unicorn. Dash smiled back and chugged the drink down.

"Mmmm...that's the stuff." Dash licked the foam off of her lips.

Rarity continued to smile, she always found the rainbow maned mare interesting, but very complex. On the outside, she boasts about her skills and accomplishments, but on the inside, she's a very self-conscious and scared pony who is afraid that her friends will abandon her if she doesn't live up to the expectations she set for herself...Rarity could related.

"You okay Rarity?"

Rarity was quickly snapped out of her thoughts. "Uh...what darling?"

"You okay? You were standing there, staring at me like a zombie or something." explained a concerned Dash.

"I was...oh..." she blushed. "...sorry, just deep in thought...so, what do you want to do?"

Dash thought hard about that question.

"You're kidding!" exclaimed Dash with disbelief.

"Oh I am not darling! It was the biggest one I have ever seen." Rarity mused. "That pool was amazing though."

"These fancy ponies sure have a a lot awesome stuff..." Dash suddenly let out a huge lawn. "All this cider is making me sleepy."

"Yeah, me too." agreed the white mare. "I'll lend you my couch if you want." Rarity got up, a bit tipsy from the cider.

"Can't I just sleep here? I'm too tired to get up." whined the pegasus, she was too tipsy and lazy to move.

"You can't sleep on the floor, especially with that hurt wing...now let me help you up." Rarity tried to force her friend up, but slipped and fell right on top of her. "OOF...Oh...sorry." she found herself staring into Rainbow Dash's eyes, she was in awe of them, those red violet eyes of the multi-colored maned pegasus.

"T-That's okay." Rainbow Dash blushed from Rarity being in an interesting position on top of her. She always found Rarity attractive and beautiful, but never realized how much so until now.

They absent mindlessly brought their faces closer to each others until their lips met in the middle in a deep kiss.

"BUCK THAT!" exclaimed Dash as she pushed away the memory. "It's nothing but a stupid memory of a bad mistake." she lounged back on the cloud. "Besides, how good was she to me? She nothing but a selfish over-dramatic mare."

The pegasus just lied back and closed her eyes, a smug smirk formed on her face. "Now that I am single, I can have any mare or stallion I want and no one can stop me! No longer have that ball and chain of a unicorn to stop me!" she slowly dozed off.

"No way! I will not wear that dress!" angrily spat Dash to Rarity.

"But Rainbow, darling, you need to wear that to the banquet, I put you down as my plus one and its white tie." urged the unicorn holding up the dress.

"I don't do fancy fru-fru that makes me look like a cream puff!" barked the cyan mare.

"Okay, fine, then I guess we won't be having and after-party fun." said Rarity with disappointment. "Time to put my acting skills to the test" she giggled in her mind.

"What?"

"And such a shame too, it was your turn to be top." Rarity sighed. "But I guess we'll have to save that for another time because my marefriend refused to join me in this important banquet-"

"Okay! Okay! I'll put on the stupid dress!" Dash groaned. She would do anything for a reward like that.

"Excellent!~" she said in a sing-song voice. Rarity proceeded to put the dress on Dash.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAINBOW DASH!" announced Rarity as she removed the blindfold off of her marefriend. Dash's eyes went wide to see that a private and romantic dinner was set up for just the two of them.

"Oh...you didn't have to Rares." she blushed.

"Nonsense, you're my marefriend and we deserve some private time for each other on our birthday." Rarity sat the cyan mare down on the table. "Anyways, I brought you some gifts to celebrate." she levitated three boxes to Dash. "Open them up."

Dash started with a pink box. She used her teeth to rip open the box. "It's...it's..." Dash immediately blushed from what was inside the box. "Oh boy..."

Rarity giggled. "We'll save that one for tonight, open the other two."

Dash went to the green one and opened it. "NO BUCKING WAY!"

"Yes."

"But this 'Daring Doo' book won't come out for another three months! How-?"

"Connections darling, connections, I managed to get the author to autograph it as well."

"THIS IS SO AWESOME! YOU'RE THE BE-"

"Save that for when you open the blue box." she interrupted as she placed a hoof on Dash's mouth.

Rarity let Dash go to open the final present. "OH WAY!" exclaimed Dash at the sigh of the gift.

"You like it?"

"VIP season tickets to every Wonderbolt show?! But these tickets are super expensive?!" she could not believe this.

"It surprises me that you keep forgetting that you have a marefriend who is loaded and rich." she wrapped her forelegs around the pegasus.

Dash started to tear up with joy. "Why are you so nice to me? Why did we end up being together?"

"Love works in mysterious ways darling." she kissed her cheek. "Now...I bet you are famished...ready for dinner?"

"Oh yes...I'm famished alright." smirked Dash, she whispered into Rarity's ear. "But not for the food."

Rarity blushed. "Being frisky again?"

"It's my birthday, I can be as frisky as I want." boasted Dash.

"If you insist." Rarity levitated the pink box to herself. "But I get top." she gave an evil smile.

"DAMN IT!" exclaimed Dash as she woke up. "Why can't she leave my mind?!"

She sighed. "Okay fine, she was a good marefriend and really did care about me, but I still feel that it was a mistake."

The sun started to set. "You know, I'll just go down to Rarity's place and see what she is up to, she's probably down there celebrating that we are no longer together." she thought. She was certain that Rarity was doing exactly that. "Probably throwing out all the stuff I let her borrow or burning all the gifts I gave her...yeah, she is not going to miss this relationship."

Rainbow Dash got up and jumped off the cloud, she flew back into Ponyville. She soon reached the boutique and flew around to her bedroom window. "She's probably in there having a party with herself, all smug and happy that I am no longer cramping her style." she peeked through the window, but what she saw was something she completely did not expect.

Rarity was on her bed, in her pink robe and slippers, sobbing uncontrollably and gorging on a gallon of ice cream. "I'm nothing but a fat cow!" she cried as she ate another spoonful of ice cream. "I am doomed to live the rest of my alone and become a worthless failure!"

Rainbow Dash felt horrible at what she was seeing. She took it a lot harder than she could have imagined. Rarity truly did miss her and loved her and Dash too full of herself at times to notice how much she meant to her.

Dash reluctantly tapped on the window to get Rarity's attention.

"Huh?" Rarity stopped her sobbing and gorging to see Dash outside, she looked sad. The unicorn used her magic to open the window and let the pegasus in. "What do you want Dash?"

"Oh...uh...I see you're taking the break-up...um...well..." nervously stated the cyan mare, she felt guilty.

"Just do what you came here to do and leave me alone!" snarled the unicorn as she resumed eating her ice cream.

"I came here to see how you were doing...that's all." explained Dash, she tried to hide her shame and guilt.

"Let me guess...you're here to make fun of me and mock me for how much of a fat, miserable, slop I have become! Admit it!"

"No! I did not come here to make fun of you!"

"Then you are here to see me wallow in my filth and sadness!"

"That's is not true!" snapped Dash.

"IT IS! ADMIT IT!"

"I CAME HERE TO SEE IF YOU WERE HAPPY THAT WE BROKE-UP!" admitted the pegasus. Dash quickly realized what she said and covered her mouth.

Awkward silence fell between them.

"You thought I was going to be happy that we broke-up?" Rarity tried to take it all in.

Dash sighed. "Yes...but I guess that was further from the truth...I feel bad that I did think of such a thing."

Rarity also felt bad. "I guess we got a little heated back there didn't we."

"Look Rarity, I really do love you and care about you, and the fact that this happened...really made me think about all the good times we had together...and not just the love making."

"I know." she managed to smile. "And I am sorry if I make seem like I don't care about our relationship and always put work first." the unicorn apologized.

"And I am sorry if I sometimes forget that it is just not about me anymore." said Dash with humility.

They quickly wrapped each other in a tight loving hug, they really missed each other despite the fact that it was only less than a day that they were broken up. "Will you mind if I told you to stay here with me for the rest of the night to cuddle?" asked Rarity, overjoyed that they are together again.

"Oh Rarity....you know how much I hate cuddling." Dash groaned.

"Yet you do it all the time." she giggled.

Dash just sighed but smiled. "Okay, so I really love to cuddle, just don't you DARE tell anyone else about that!"

"Don't worry darling, only I know the fact that you are a huge cuddle-bug." Rarity smiled. She proceeded to kiss Dash on the lips. The pegasus happily went along with it and enjoyed it. She was happy and in love, but she did not realize that they were floating off the floor.

Both didn't pay attention to that as they happily continued their deep kiss, both of them holding each other close.

But in the end, both Rainbow Dash and Rarity learned that a relationship is not about preventing arguments, but about coming to an understanding to fix them whenever one does indeed happen.

"Oh and Dash...you own 100 bits for that dress you destroyed."

"WHAT?!"
