“NOT another step!” Luna said, walking out from behind her throne.
‘It’s finally time to show Celestia that you won't be ignored any longer.’ The voice she had become familiar with over her bitter years said to her, reminding her of her hatred of being shunned and unloved. She stepped forward, seeing her sister standing at the end of the throne room in front of the double doors. Glaring, she continued, 
“Did you really think I would sit idly by while they all basked in your ‘precious light’?” 
‘Here it comes, you are so close. don't give into fear now’ the voice told her.
“There can only be ONE Princess in Equestria!” Luna walked to the center of the balustrade and again faced her sister. “And that princess, will be ME!” 

Her voice echoing throughout the castle, She faced down and concentrated her energy into her front hooves, lifting them, and stomping hard, breaking the front of the balustrade* and causing the wall behind her to crack up to the stained glass window above and shatter the center of it, revealing the sun behind it. Using her levitation, she took the moon in her grasp. ‘Yes, yes! now do it, free me!’ the voice urged. Luna flew upwards, gaining leverage, she covered the sun with the moon, causing what sounded like an explosion, then black beams came in, carrying the source of the voice. Landing, she felt a rush of pain come to her head. As she held her hooves to her head, black particles began to spin around her, causing her to lift off the ground. ‘Now.’ The voice said. ‘ Let me in.’  As Luna’s mind merged with Nightmare, she realized she had just let a long forgotten evil into the world, and she embraced it.
