Twilight Sparkle And the Very Confusing Apocalypse

by kudzuhaiku

Chapter 4

Begin to lose sanity ✓

Twilight Sparkle pondered the five eggs sitting in a basket, gently wrapped in a blanket. Five little eggs. She worried a great deal about what might be inside of them. Soarin’ had also laid five eggs. Twilight Sparkle suspected that every creature that had become pregnant during the time of Eris’ estrus was going to have five eggs.

Begin to realise just how screwed the world is ✓

Twilight thought about the city of Manehatten. The doctor had said there had been thousands of cases. Thousands.

And then there was Los Pegasus, the city of whorses, where a few bits could buy you a buck and one heck of a good time.

Five dreadful little eggs. The worst part of it all was, Twilight loved those little eggs. She could feel it deep within the cockles of her heart. She loved them and wanted what was best for them. She wanted to keep them safe, secure, and warm. Twilight loved them all so much that she could hardly stand it. She wanted to kiss them and cradle them and keep them warm and secure with her body.

The entire planet was going to be overrun by something she loved, and she wasn’t sure if she would even want to try and stop them.

Twilight pondered briefly what Celestia must be feeling. Or Luna. Twilight facehoofed when she thought of Luna. Twilight realised that as she stood there, Celestia was probably breaking down. Twilight had a hunch that all of the eggs had been birthed at roughly the same time. And Celestia had done nothing to contact Twilight.

Begin to prepare for the inevitable apocalypse ✓

It was a worrying thought. Celestia should have done something by now. Contact had not been made. Twilight was only a minor alicorn, (Alicorn Minorus) and she felt unbelievably protective of her brood. She could only imagine what Celestia, who was an Alicorn Majorus must be feeling. Celestia would probably burn the world in fire before allowing something to happen to her brood.

Twilight suspected that the eggs should be smashed, but the very thought made her feel suicidal. Discord and Fluttershy’s brood was worrisome enough…

Draw conclusion that the world is horned. So very horned ✓

“The Befuddled and Somewhat Confused Trixie has no clue what is going on.” Trixie said, interrupting Twilight’s thoughts. Her voice sounded pained.

Twilight Sparkle heaved a sigh of relief. She still felt a Great and Powerful Love for the Attractive and Seductively Sultry Trixie. Twilight had worried briefly that her infatuation might wear off once Trixie had given birth.

Now, Twilight worried if it might wear off sometime in the future, after their young were raised. She did not voice her concern, but she didn’t want it wearing off at all. Or, at least, she hoped she didn’t. It could very well be the magically induced love causing her to think and feel this way. Twilight felt very confused and small and wanted desperately to hug something, anything, just so long as it was blue.

She latched on tenderly to Trixie, still sprawled in the bed.

Hug something blue ✓

“Is Trixie a chicken?” Trixie inquired.

“No.” Twilight said, planting a kiss on Trixie’s cheek and wondering how long they had before the world ended.

“The world has eggsploded.” Twilight whispered into Trixie’s ear.

“Gah! Sparkle! I’ve just laid five eggs!” Trixie squirmed uncomfortably.

“Feeling shell shocked?” Twilight asked.

“UGH! No more!” Trixie pleaded.

“Trixie, the world is ending soon.” Twilight announced.

“I know Sparkle. I know.” Trixie murmured sadly, her voice still gritty from pain.

“And I want to spend it just like this. Next to something blue.” Twilight buried her nose into Trixie’s neck and held her close.

“What is it with you and the colour blue?” Trixie inquired.

“It’s silly.” Twilight said shyly.

“The world is ending Sparkle. Might as well tell me.” Trixie replied.

“I associate the colour blue with happiness. I don’t know why ponies say they feel blue.” Twilight said in a low husky whisper. “Or sing the blues. I’ve never understood it.”

“Aw, Sparkle, you are going to make me cry.” Trixie said, sniffling.

Reports from Celestia confirmed Twilight’s worst fears. Eggs everywhere. Celestia also wrote of her strange love for her eggs, voicing many of the same concerns that Twilight had thought of previously.

Twilight had spoken at length with Discord, who seemed genuinely baffled by these events. Twilight wasn’t sure if she believed him. Discord had never had an estrus before. And upon thorough examination, couldn’t ever remember meeting another draconequus before. Twilight wanted to believe him, but was having trouble.

It was wise to never believe a draconequus, no matter how earnest they seemed to be at the time. Discord did seemed concerned though. He was currently madly in love with Flutterbeast and Fluttershy, and the notion of something harming her unnerved him completely.

Could Twilight trust in love?

She didn’t know anymore. Her own feelings were so muddled. She couldn’t even tell if she had been manipulated or if these were her own real feelings. She lived in a constant state of terror that these feelings would wear off and she’d be left with nothing.

She wanted desperately to be left with something.

Something blue.

Twilight Sparkle felt the sting of frustration over knowing all of this had started because of a slumber party. A slumber party had doomed Equestria and the entire world.

An innocent night of fun amongst friends had caused the end of civilisation. The age of the draconequus would begin soon, when the eggs hatched.

So much for the magic of friendship. It had brought about the end of an era. They didn’t even have the Elements of Harmony any more. Twilight could not foresee a way to stop this, to prevent it from happening, other than going forth and smashing all of the eggs.

And she couldn’t do that.

Even Spike loved the eggs. He hovered over the basket, picking them up occasionally and kissing them, singing to them, turning them occasionally, wrapping the blanket around them, Spike was a doting eggsitter. He had been there, when they came home from the hospital, worried, expecting some brothers and sisters perhaps.

Spike hadn’t been expecting any eggs.

But Spike loved them all the same, they had become his little treasures.

Twilight Sparkle pondered her odd little family and wondered how long they had. One alicorn, one unicorn trapped in the third pony, a dragon that needed to see a therapist, and a basket of eggs.

“Come back to bed Sparkle! Trixie needs to be next to something purple!”

Twilight Sparkle blew out the candle she had been studying by and observed the darkness settling into the room.

She couldn’t help but feel it was appropriate for the situation.

Zecora and Iron Will pondered their clutch of eggs. The world was a messed up place right now. A minotaur bull who had become a cow who had been impregnated by a zebra mare who had become a stallion and then the minotaur cow, who had been a bull, had laid eggs, and was now living with the zebra, who had been a stallion, but was now a mare, and the minotaur bull, who had become a cow, had laid the eggs, and was now a bull again.

“When your mind is full of confusion, you must not give in to delusion…” Iron Will said, still very confused about being a bull again.

The gender roles in their relation where changing once again. Iron Will was masculine, yet feminine, he loved his clutch of eggs more than the bulky biped was capable of saying. He also loved a small striped quadruped that had become the center of his universe.

Zecora, for her part, was content.

“Get over here, you horny bull, grab my tail, and give a pull.”

Iron Will raised an eyebrow.

“Doom is coming to the Equestrian nation. What I need is some good penetration.” Zecora stated matter of factly. “While it was delightful to make you moo, we now have the means for an old fashioned screw.”

“If a zebra flirts in sultry rhymes, you must give her sexy times!” Iron Will catchphrased.

Cadance loved her eggs. Being the Alicorn of Love, she really loved her eggs. The letter she had received from Twilight unnerved her a great deal. Twilight and all of her questions… Questions about whether or not this love was even real, questions about how long would the world survive being flooded by draconequus spawn, Twilight Sparkle and her questions had been a real downer.

And part of Cadance knew Twilight might be right.

The other part of Cadance hated Twilight for the same reason.

Cadance accepted the fact that the world was ending with all of the grace and aplomb that she accepted everything else. She took a deep breath, made a gesture with her hoof, and exhaled slowly. All better.

Except for all those nagging thoughts in the back of her mind, thoughts that would not go away. Alicorns were sensitive about potential extinction level events or even world ending events, and it manifested as an itchy feeling in the marrow of the horn. It was an itch that could not be reached. The only way to make it stop was to ensure the world continued to survive.

Cadance decided the only way to distract herself from that itch was to go and play with Shining Armor’s newly returned Little Shiny, perhaps polishing it to a fine sheen would make her feel better.

Luna pondered her new nightmare. Sixty eggs. Sixty eggs. She had a special sense of pride knowing that she had personally ensured the coming apocalypse, condemning the world to destruction with careless competitive rutting.

Her horn itched in the worst manner possible and she felt a twinge of guilt with her pride. Suddenly, crowing her achievements over her sister’s had lost a bit of luster.

Twelve stallions eyed her slavishly, all eyes on Luna, all of them filled with love, lust, and a religious adoration.

One mare among twelve stallions. It was a mess that only Luna could find herself in.

The moon was beginning to look awfully inviting compared to how Equestria and the whole world was soon to be, swarming with draconequus spawns.

But Luna could not bear to leave her eggs. She loved them oh so very much.
