//------------------------------// // Chapter 2 - A New, Speedy Friend // Story: My Little Pony X // by Ephraim Blue //------------------------------// Chapter 2 - A New, Speedy Friend Field Not To Far Outside Ponyville May 1st 1001 As soon as the countdown ended, Rainbow Dash took of before you could say noodles. The blue hedgehog didn't know who he was racing. That didn't matter. Whether he knew her or not, she was not going to let him win this race. for in this race, she had the advantage. The race was to the top of the mountain about five miles away from their position. Rainbow could easily fly strait there and not have to worry about a huge vertical clime like that hedgehog did. HA! she laughed to herself. That hedgehog doesn't stand a chance at getting there before me! He may be a little slippery to sneak behind me, but he still isn't the fastest thing around! The sky was certainly clear today. This made it slightly easier because she would be able to see where she was going all the time. She would also be able to see where that hedgehog was almost all the time. She looked down to see where he might have been. All she saw was a sudden blue streak run into the trees, making it impossible to see where it went. What the hay was that? That couldn't have been the hedgehog, could it? She saw the blue streak come out of the other side of the trees not two seconds later. If that's him, he's FAST! No matter. I'll just have to go faster! She flew strait into the sky. Once she believed that she was high enough, she did a 180 and flew strait at the ground. There is nothing faster than this! Prepare, hedgehog! Here comes the Sonic Rainboom! 'Equestria' Unknown Date Sonic took off at a slightly slower pace than normal. This pegasus didn't stand a chance if he went as fast as he could right off the start. "This is going to be fun!" he said to himself. "Just like the times I had with Sam!" He ran into a small clump of trees, preventing him from running in a strait line. "No problem!" He ran to the left, then the right. Trees spaced out like this were no match for Sonic's agility. He exited the trees not to long afterwards. He looked up to see the cyan pegasus flying strait into the air. "What's she doing?" he asked himself. He then saw her turn around and fly strait at the ground beneath her. "She's going to hurt herself!" He skidded to a halt and ran strait at the point she was going to hit. I'm not going to make it! He saw a small shield-like thing form around her front hooves. Sonic's eyes widened at what he saw. She can't do that, can she? The shield thing turned into a point as she became faster and faster. He closed his eyes at what he believed would have happened. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM He opened his eyes at the sound that erupted from nowhere. He saw a large ring of multiple colors fly in a circle outward from where the rainbow-manned pegasus was headed. He also saw a rainbow form directly from the center of the explosion. At the tip of the rainbow, he saw a slight glimpse of cyan flying out and leaving the trail behind it. "Oh, she wants to have a little fun, does she? Well, she's got fun!" Back To Rainbow Dash BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM The explosion was nothing new to Rainbow. She always did it for special occasions, when she needed to, and for fun! She tried to do this once a week for she needed to practice often. She looked behind her and saw the familiar rainbow following her every move. "Yes! Now who is going to win this race!" She looked down at where the hedgehog was. With wide eyes, she realized that he was speeding up. He was nearly just as fast as she was! "This is impossible! Nopony is faster than me!" Her thoughts turned back to the top of the mountain. "Doesn't matter now. He still has a vertical climb while I can just fly! He's lost this race!" Sonic "When probably thinks the mountain will slow me down," he said to himself. "Well, she certainly is in for a surprise!" His feet sped up instead of slowing down when he went strait at the mountain. When he reached the base, he jumped and started running even faster up the side of the cliff. He looked at the rainbow that was ascending at a vertical angle toward the top of the mountain. "Now we get serious!" he said. He sped up even more, creating something he nearly did every day back on Mobius. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM Another explosion erupted as Sonic once again broke the sound barrier. His speed increased and he flew strait into the air once he came to the top of the mountain. "Yeah! Aha ha!" he yelled as he spun repeatedly in the air. He turned to see the cyan pegasus standing at the top of the mountain below him. Still spinning, he began to fall back down to the mountain. He gracefully landed directly on his feet when he reached the mountain. He turned to the pegasus. "Best three out of five?" he asked. "H- How did you do that?" she asked. "Nopony in the world is faster than me!" "You just answered your own question," he replied, making her tilt her head in curiosity. "I am nopony." The cyan pegasus chuckled. "You win this round, but next time I'm not holding back." "Neither am I. My name's Sonic, by the way. Sonic the Hedgehog." "I'm Rainbow Dash." "Nice to meet you, Miss Dash." He held out his hand to shake, which she took and shook with her hoof. His eyes widened in shock as he just realized something. "Oh, no! I need to get back home as soon as possible!" "What's the rush?" Rainbow asked. "You clearly just got here." "Yes, and I need to get me and someone else back to where we came from before it happens again!" "Who's that?" "You don't need to concern yourself with that information. I need to find him before he gets an idea going." Rainbow was about to ask another question, but Sonic didn't bother sticking around to hear what she had to say. He quickly chose a direction and ran. Eggman! Where are you! ??? "Oh, what hit me?" Doctor Eggman was lying on the floor with several pieces of machinery lying all around him. He brought his right hand up to his head as he brought himself up while holding a metal bar above him with his other hand. His glasses were slightly cracked from what they endured. He turned his head to the left, and then to the right. "Where am I?" he asked himself. "Hmm. It seems like I'm still in the control room of the energy amplifier 2.0." He turned to where the cage that held Sonic, in what seemed like moments before, was empty. "Great. Chaos Control happens, and I just brought Sonic and me into another world. Better find out where I am." He turned toward a nearby computer on a desk. Turning the screen back on, he tried to find any satellite there might be in the sky. What the results told him was not satisfying. "No signal? How can there be no signal? This is one of the best pieces of technology on the galaxy that can find the smallest signal hundreds of miles away from the planet it's on, and it can't find a single signal? Where in the universe am I?" Now completely awake, he quickly ran to another computer and brought up a screen of the outside world. His base was in some kind of desert, devoid of any life. "Well that explains where I am, but it doesn't explain how there are signals within range." He tried to zoom in on anything, but the function for that was broken. "Hmm. This needs to be repaired. The quicker the better. Until then, I'll just have to lie low and out of any creature's way that might be inhabiting this planet." With that, he began to work. The air conditioning system would certainly be the first thing to be fixed. After all, our good doctor is in a desert.
