Trying To Forget Past Mistakes

The Fresh New Start

It was a beautiful morning in the land of Equestria. The Sun was bright with clear sky's, the animals are out, and everything that made gorgeous day perfect.

Coming down the tracks on a nearby rail line was a train heading for the town known as Ponyville. Everyone on this particular train are heading down to visit the nice little town for business or simply passing through to go on to another destination. But not for two ponies on this train ride.

In one of the box cars, sitting on the one of the many seats was a unicorn stallion named Digital Grove who had a light lime green coat, a brown combed over mane, Blue eyes, and a hammer and saw cutie mark.

Next to the Stallion is a Small six year old little unicorn filly named Sugar Cream who had a light grey coat, maroon colored mane, and blue eyes. She's doesn't have a cutie mark, but no matter how young she is or what anyone tells, she really wants one.

Sugar Cream was squirming in her seat due to the long and tiring train ride the two had been on, Sugar couldn't wait to get off and stretch her legs

"Daddy?" said Sugar looking up at her dad.

Digital looked down at his daughter and happily replied, smiling at her.

"Yes sweetie?" said Digital.

"Are we their yet?" The small filly asked.

"Not yet. But we should be arriving shortly" said Digital. "Don't worry I made sure we'll be on schedule".

"Oh okay" said Sugar. "But do I have to go to school today?"

"Of course you do silly filly" Digital chuckled scratching her head. "I already signed you up. Well, I have to sign a few more documents and consents, but other then that you're officially in".

"But why do I have to go? What's the point?" Whined Sugar. "I miss pre-school, and our old home"

Digital patted his daughters head. "I'm sure you do sweetie. But you have to understand that you need school to learn and for an education to do what you want when you grow up".

Sugar Cream eyes lit up with joy. "To do what I want when I grow up!? Does that mean I'll get my cutie mark while in school?" The small filly asked with excitement and joy in her tone.

Digital just chuckled. "Well if your cutie mark represents something you want to do when you're older involving teaching or science and inventing like yours truly" said Digital. "Then yeah I'm pretty sure you will"

The small filly started to bounce up and down squealing with joy. "Oh now I can't wait for school, I'm too excited!"

"I thought you didn't want to go to school" said Digital.

"I did, but now that I know that I can get a cutie mark while in school makes it like one hundred gazillion times better" said the excited filly

The stallion chuckled. "Alright take easy their sweetheart, we're getting close. But you have to understand, a cutie mark is what's makes a pony special and it's not just given out like free samples" said Digital putting his hoof around his daughter. "It's given when a pony finds out what makes them special or what they do they do best".

"Oh...But I like to eat candy! Will I get a cutie mark for that?" the small filly asked.

Digital chuckled. "You'll just have to be patient sweetheart, you'll get your Cutie mark when the time comes, trust me".

Now Arriving in Pony. For those of you Getting off, Thank you for choosing southwest rail lines and have a nice day

"Well speaking of being patient, we're here. Do you want me to help carry your bag?' Digital asked reaching for his back.

Sugar Cream jumped down from her seat and started to tug at her bag under the seat. But it wouldn't budge not matter how hard she tired. "No its okay, I can do it"

The filly continued to to tug but with no luck of it moving at the slightest.

"Here I insist let me carry it" said Digital grabbing the bag and putting it over his back next to the other one he picked up.

Sugar Cream looked up at her dad with puppy dog eyes. "But I want to carry something".

Digital frowned and looked to see if their was something he could let his small daughter carry without her struggling.
Finally Digital handed Sugar Cream her school saddle bag, "Here sweetheart you can carry you school bag" said said Digital handing her the bag. "You'll be needing it anyways"

Sugar Cream frowned at it and looked back up. "But I already carry my school bag all the time, whats special about that".

Digital chuckled. "Well theirs some of your luggage in their Sweetie, besides the one I'm carrying oh course"

"Like what?" the small filly asked.

"Well..."

Digital paused for a minute trying to remember everything he had put in his daughter school bag prior before the move. "You're good luck bracelet charm is in their, new school supplies and I already have your lunch packed" said Digital.

"Oh okay...that's cool I guess" said Sugar Cream with disappointment in her tone.

Digital frowned and knelt down do his daughters level. "Look Sweetie its not that I don't want you to carry something, its just I don't want you to hurt yourself" said Digital.

"It's okay I understand" said Sugar Cream.

"But hey I know what will cheer you up" said Digital giving a devilish Grin.

The filly looked back her father with curiosity. "What?' she asked.

"Tickle Fight!!" said Digital quickly reaching out and tickling his daughters stomach.

The small filly burst out with laughter and couldn't stop as Digital attacked his daughters stomach in all of her weak spots. "HAHAHAHAHA stop it!!!" cried Sugar Cream squirming.

Digital didn't reply but only continued to make his daughter laugh uncontrollably.

"Daddy HAHAHAHAHAHA stop HAHAHAHA please!" Laughed the small filly.

Digital continued on and on until finally the the train arrived in Ponyville and the two got off. Digital pulled out a map looking for which way the school should be, he then put it away when he knew where to go to get to his destination. The two started to walk in the direction of the school house.

"Alrighty kiddo, first stop is you're new school" said Digital.

"I actually feel better about going to school now thanks to you" said Sugar.

Digital smiled. "That's the spirit sweetheart, I'm sure you'll have a great time and make lots of new friends".

"I hope I do" said Sugar.

Two continued walking until they found themselves upon a red school house. Waiting by the front door of the school house was a Cerise coated and light grayish rose maned mare was looking at them waving.

"Well hello their you two" said the Mare.

Sugar Cream immediately hid behind her fathers legs as they walked up to greet the mare. She was normally shy when it came to meeting new grown ups.

"Hello" said Digital greeting her. "Are you Cheerilee?"

"Why yes I am, you must be Digital Groove" said the Mare. "And is that little Sugar Cream under you?"

Digital looked down at his daughter, stepped back a bit and nudged her forward. "Go on Sweetie introduce yourself. There's nothing to be afraid of"

Sugar Cream looked up at Cheerilee and shyly said. "Hi..."

Cheerilee giggled and looked back up at Digital. "She looks and sounds like the sweetest little thing".

"Believe me she is" said Digital. "But she can be a hoof full at times".

Cheerilee smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. Now their's still a little paper work you need to fill out, but after that she's all set to go. Now who am I addressing? Her older brother I presume?"

"Actually...I'm not her bother. She's my daughter" said Digital.

Cheerilee's Eyes widened and she looked in him in shocked. "S-she's your daughter?".

"Yes she is" said Digital.

Cheerilee stared at the Stallion and studied him closely. He looked very young to be this filly's daughter. He even looked old enough to be her older brother.

"I...Is there a problem?"

"N-no of course their isn't" said Cheerilee. "But I must say you have a very beautiful little filly".

"Thank you very much Ms.Cheerilee" said Digital. "If your alright with me calling you that"

Cheerilee smiled at the stallion. "I'm perfectly fine with that. Now I'm going to need you to sign these documents and she's officially enrolled" she said as she handed him the documents and a quill.

Digital used his magic and levitated the quill and papers. he began to read and sign each one with is name and signature.

After about a minute, Digital signed the last part of the documents and handed them back to Cheerilee. "Here you go Cheerilee".

"Great! now little Sugar Cream here is all set for the morning classes" said Cheerilee. "The class is going to start shortly so if you want I can show Sugar Cream around before class starts".

"That would be wonderful. Sugar Cream what do you say to Miss Cheerilee?" said Digital.

Sugar Cream shyly looked up at Cheerilee. "Thank you Miss Cheerilee"

Cheerilee gave the filly a warm smile. "You very welcome dear"

Digital knew that it was time for him to head out to his new home and to leave Sugar Cream at the school. Digital knelt so that was near eye level with his daughter.

"Now Sugar Cream I have to go now. Will you promise to try your hardest and do your best today?" asked Digital.

"I will" said Sugar.

"Alright Sweetie and are you sure you'll be okay?"

"Yes I'll be fine" said Sugar Cream.

With that said Sugar Cream wrapped her hooves around Digital's neck giving her dad a hug and Digital returning it. The hug finally released and Sugar Cream headed inside with Cheerilee. But before Sugar Cream disappeared through the door, Digital called out to her

"Sugar Cream!" Digital called out.

The small filly turned back to see what her dad needed from her.

"I love you" said Digital.

Sugar Cream smiled. "I love you too Daddy"

With that said the small filly turned back around and followed Cheerilee inside.

"Make lots of friends!" Digital shouted out.

Digital smiled, then turned around and started to head into town. "Now all I have to is drop these bags off at the new place where everything else should be and then ill head back into town, find some work, earn money and work on my next big project".

Digital continued to ponder. "Though I do hope they moved everything including my tools properly. I wouldn't want anything broken, damaged, or worse, missing".

Digital then used his magic and levitated the map out once again from the bags and looked it as he continued to walk. "I might as well look around town while I'm at it but where is th-"

Digital was cut off by bumping into another pony making him and the other pony drop all of their stuff that was being carried as well as knocking each other over in the process.

In confusion of what happened Digital looked up to see a white coated and indigo curled maned mare looking at him surround by beauty and cloth like products. The Mare then got a worried look on her face as she looked at him. "Oh my! I'm terrible sorry darling, I didn't see you there" said the mare.

Digital quickly got up and walked over to helped the mare to her hooves. "No it wasn't you're fault. I wasn't looking where I was going, I had my eyes on something else other then the road. Plus I wasn't paying any attention" Digital admitted as he helped the mare up.

The mare giggled and smiled. "Why thank you very much" the mare said. "No need to apologize it was my fault too. I also wasn't really paying any attention either, my mind must have been somewhere else".

Digital chuckled. "It's alright miss no pony was hurt. But still sorry for bumping into you, Its just that...I've got a lot on my mind" said Digital

The mare signed. "I can relate. I have a large number of orders I have to finish soon and I am already running behind as it is" said the Mare starting to pick up her things. Digital also started to pick up his own belongings as well as help her pick up her own. "I don't think we've been properly introduced".

"Well bumping into to somepony is one way to meet another pony" Digital chuckled.

The mare chuckled along with him. "Well anyway...I'm Rarity"

"Rarity huh? hmm...Pretty name" said Digital. "Anyways I'm Digital Grove. I just moved here from out of town".

"Really now?" said Rarity. "Well welcome to Ponyville Digital. When exactly did you get here?"

"Actually I just arrived here today along with my little filly" said Digital. "She just started at the school down the road a ways".

Rarity gave Digital an odd look. "Wait a second darling you have a daughter?"

"Y-yes I do" said Digital. "why? is something wrong".

"Oh no of course not" said Rarity. "It's just you look a little young to be a parent. Honestly you really don't an older then myself, not saying that to be rude of course.

"Yeah I get that a lot, that I look a little young to be a parent" said Digital hanging his head down. "But It's not realy a subject I like to talk about with others".

"I understand darling, that's your business and you can keep it to yourself" said Rarity. "But anyway's I better be getting back to my boutique before I end up biting off more then I can chew to finish those orders".

Digital then looked up and started grabbing of Rarity's belongings that she hadn't yet picked up and put it on his back. "Here let me help you carry some of those, its the least I can do for making you drop everything on the ground"

"Oh no no no I couldn't ask you to do that. You're already carrying so much" said Rarity.

"It's alright I can get by, it's no big deal I can it's handle see." said Digital.

Rarity smiled. "my my, you certainly are a gentlecolt Digital I really do appreciate it the help".

Digital smiled back "Hey no sweat, I do aim to please"

Digital suddenly lost his balance a little and almost fell over from the weight.

"Oh my be careful darling" said Rarity. "Don't strain yourself".

"I wont, Promise" said Digital.

Rarity nodded and Digital followed Rarity as she lead them back to her boutique.
