“Applejack why don’t you take the rest of the day of?” asked Big Mac
“I can’t, I want to get all of this done. So I can cheer on Apple Bloom at Ponyville’s Regional Qualifier.” said Applejack
“I know but you still can’t wear yourself out like this.”

“Good now go and relax. And don’t worry about the chorus I’ll take care of them.”

“So are you guy excited for the vanguard regional’s” said the first colt

“Hey do you think we should ask the winning team to look over are decks for us?” asked the third colt

Rarity was at the store cleaning the tables. The door opened and Applejack walked in.

“Oh nothing, Big Mac told me to take the rest of the day off. So I thought I would stop by and see how Apple Bloom was doing.” said Applejack
“She is doing just fine, she has been busy practicing for the regional tournament.”
“Thats good to hear.” said Applejack looking at the packs of vanguard cards.
“My I ask you. Are you interested in vanguard?”
“Well yeah but I don’t think I would be any good. I mean it’s difficult right.”
“Oh I wouldn’t say that Applejack. It’s not as difficult as you might think. Would you like to try it?”
“Sure why not.”
Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, Snips, and Snails were walking towards Card Capital. When they entered they notice Applejack was there.
“Oh no was I suppose to go home after school today. I know you said I could practice for the regional tournament. And I only had to help early Saturday and Sunday mornings or if you really need the help. Did you need help today and ask me to come home after school. But I wasn't paying attention. I’m sorry Applejack I’ll head home right now.” said Apple Bloom in a worried tone
“No, Apple Bloom you're not in trouble. You see Big Mac gave me the day off because I was working too hard. So you could practice for regionals.” said Applejack

“Well you see, first I came over to see how you were doing. Then well you see, I seen you play vanguard and I thought I would give it a try.”

“Why do you keep your cards here? Why didn’t you bring them to school like the rest of use?” asked Diamond Tiara
“It because we were going to came here after school and I work here, either way we're going to came anyway.”

“I understand I have to make the decisions you can tell me the rules. But I have to make my own calls. Like in your first fight Spike told you the rules and nopony told you what to play and stuff. So I must make my own decisions.” said Applejack
“First you set a grade zero in the vanguard cycle. Then you shuffle the rest of your cards. Once your done you draw five cards. You can take any number of cards from your hoof to reshuffle for new cards.” said Apple Bloom

“Sure lets take a look at Lozenge Magus she has a trigger mark on the top right corner. When your vanguard attacks or you take damage you check the top card. If you get a card with a mark a power boost is added to one of your units and an extra effect base of the mark’s color there are four different trigger. There are stand trigger which lets you stand on of your rear guards. A draw trigger which lets you draw another card. A critical trigger which let you deal more damage to your opponent. And last heal trigger which let you heal one point of damage as long you have more or equal damage as your opponent.” said Apple Bloom
“Ok I think you know understand enough about the game now. My turn draw, about time I draw a grade one unit.”
“This coming from the pony who shuffled one away before we started.” said Silver Spoon
“I ride the Embodiment of Armor, Bahr. Then I call the Embodiment of Spear, Tahr. Boosted by Tahr, Bahr will attack your vanguard.”

“I check for a trigger no trigger.” Bahr ran up and swung his sword at her.
“No trigger here either. Now it’s my turn I stand and draw. I ride Oracle Guardian, Wisepony, then I call Maiden of Libra.” She was turned into a statue of an earth pony in the position of the thinker. “Then I attack with the Maiden of Libra.”

“I guard with Bahr.”

“Now I’ll attack with Wisepony.”
“I won’t guard.”
“Dive trigger check, it looks like I got a critical trigger I’ll give it all to my vanguard.” She move her head to to look at her opponent and fired lasers from her eyes

“Damage trigger check no triggers. I stand and draw, all right it’s a grade two. I ride the Dragon Knight Nehalem. With a boost from Tahr, Nehalem will attack your vanguard.” She shout lighting from her spear.

“Damage trigger check.(no trigger) I stand and draw, I ride Oracle Guardian, Apollon.” She tuned into a stone earth pony. “Then I call Oracle Guardian, Wisepony and Luck Bird. Then I activate her soulblast to draw. Now I’ll attack with Wisepony.”

“Damage trigger check I got a stand trigger. Thats a 5000 power to my vanguard and Tahr stands up.”
“Boosted by Lozenge Magus, Oracle Guardian, Apollon will attack your vanguard.”

“I check my twin drive.” (both no triggers) The stone fell apart and there was a yellow mechanical earth pony. She opened her chest shout a laser.
“Damage trigger check.” (no trigger)
“I activate Apollon’s counterblast if his attack hits I get to draw two cards then I choose a card from my hoof and return it to my deck and shuffle it. I end my turn by shuffling Lozenge Magus back into my deck.”
“Now thats impressive She has take me to five damage and its only her first game. Now I stand and draw, now I ride Juggernaut Maximum. Begone I have no use for anything lower then a grade three. I call Monster Frank, Tyrant Deathrex, Demon Eater, Stealth Dragon Voidmaster, and Hell Spider. This is my ultimate ability looks like now you have six grade three’s to bet think of all that twin drive.”
“Only the vanguard can use the twin drive ability.” said Snips
“At this point I’m not surprise how little she knows about the game.” said Scootaloo
“Looks like the bar has been lowered once again.” said Snails
“Now I’ll attack with Juggernaut Maximum, twin drive I got it critical trigger. That means your going to take more damage.”
“I don’t think so cant use a trigger without a unit with the same clan.”
“Wait is Tahr in my rear guard.” Diamond Tiara relived Tahr was not in her rear guard no more. “What a goof. Even when I make a mistake I never give up. I’ll have Monster Frank attack Wisepony and have Tyrant Deathrex attack Maiden of Libra. That will end my turn.”
“I stand and draw, I call Meteor Break Wizard, Weather Girl Milk, Maiden of Libra, and Battle Sister, Cocoa.” A unicorn mare with fair wing like the ones from sonic rainboom and a unicorn stallion with a white mane and tail appeared. “With Cocoa’s skill I can check the top card of my deck. I’ll put it at the bottom. Now boosted by Milk, Apollon attacks your vanguard with Milk’s skill if I have if it boosts my vanguard and I have four or more card in hoof it boosts for another 4000 power.”
“That means Applejack attacking for 20000 power.” said Sweetie Belle
“I can’t guard.”
“I check the twin drive first card no, second card I got a draw trigger that's 5000 power to Meteor Break Wizard and I draw.” She opened her chest and shout a laser.(no trigger)
“Wow Applejack you just won you first fight way to go.” said Apple Bloom
“Thanks Apple Bloom.”
“Congratulations Applejack.” said Rarity
“I can't believe it I lost.” said Diamond Tiara in a confessed ton.
“Are you going to be alright?” asked Apple Bloom
“How could I lose to somepony how hasn’t even played vanguard before?” asked Diamond Tiara
“Well she has seen Apple Bloom fight before and she was there at the tournament also. So she kind of knew most of the rules.” said Silver Spoon
“You do have a point there. It’s not like she hasn’t seen anypony play the game before right.”
“Here is your deck back Sweetie Belle.” said Applejack giving Sweetie Belle her deck back. “I really had fun but I think I’ll try to make my own deck if thats alright.”
“I’m glad you were able to have some fun Applejack.” said Rarity
“Yeah once you get a deck ready you and me can have some fight’s at home.” said Apple Bloom
“We sure can Apple Bloom.” said Applejack
