The Birth of Despair, (Part 1)
Soon after the ordeal with Monobutt, I was laying down in my new bed, staring at the ceiling, trying my best to figure out how the hell I'm suppose to get out of this mess. A school where we have to kill each other? That's insane! No one was really stupid enough to actually kill someone. Right?
For whatever reason, that bear is insane, but since he isn't real, someone must be controlling him. The question is who?
"Who would be crazy enough to do something like this?" I asked myself "What's their motive, are they enraged at someone? Damn it...I'm afraid, if only Twilight was he-, wait a minute, TWILIGHT!" I soon jumped off of my bed then remembered my ability, the fact that I can use my magic to send items to others.
"Alright, I'm gonna get us all out of here." I said as I soon looked around for a paper and quill but sadly, to no avail. I looked from under my bed, to my closet and to the bathroom, but strangely, not a single piece of paper or writing utensil. This was very peculiar. There has to be a piece of paper or something in this school, I mean it is a school, am I not correct?
As soon as I lost hope in my search, I heard a knock at my door, I walked towards my door and opened it to see Shining Armor in a worried state. I wonder what's going through his mind.
"Spike, I'm glad to see your up." He said with a sudden change of tone. "How are you holding up in here?"
"Hey Shining," I said smiling at the guard "I-I'm fine, what brings you here?" Shining then changed his expression again to a bit more serious.
"We need to convene in the cafeteria." he said "We need to have a polemical on what we're going to do for the time being, and how we're gonna get out of here."
"Sounds like a plan." I said as I walked out of my room with the celestial guard. "I think I might have an idea too."
"Oh, do you now?" he inquired. "Well, save it for when we get to the cafeteria with everyone else." I soon was welcomed by my classmates. Some of them were grateful to see us, while others-
"Took ya long enough!" Garble said in a grumpy tone. "We've been waiting for you love birds to get over here for about 15 minutes, that's way too long." He barked.
"Trixie agrees with the dragon!" Shouted the blue unicorn. "The Great and Powerful Trixie has been waiting far too long to be with these commoners. You all need to start paying Trixie if you want an autograph." She stated with pride.
Garble soon shot daggers at Trixie. "The hell did you just call me!?"
Trixie then proceeded to ricohet the red dragon's stare. "Trixie called you a commoner, be lucky she doesn't end your life right here and now!"
"Like a pony could ever defeat a dragon!"
"Maggot!"
"Dragon bait!"
"Scoundrel!"
"Bitch!"
"Timberwolf droppings!!"
"Las Pegasus stripper!!!"
"Why you! The Great and Powerful Trixie will end your existence right now!" Trixie soon started to light up her horn, charging a more powerful spell then what she usually generates.
"Oh yeah, bring it on lady!!" Garble soon started to take a deep breath as he was about to blow Trixie sky high. Thankfully though, as they we're about to duke it out, Shining Armor levitated the both of them and stopped them from starting a duel.
"Hey, you both need to calm down!" Shining Armor barked. "If we want to get out of here, we need to make sure that we focus our energy to escape, not dueling the others!"
Both, the red dragon, and the blue mare, sat down. Not before long, they started sticking their tongues out at one another like a couple of foals. I still can't believe I was intimidated by these two.
"Now then," Shining nonchalantly stated. " Lets get back to the topic at hand. We need to find a way out of here. Has anyone been able to find any escape routes in the building?"
As soon as he finished, Book Marker soon shook her head and sighed "Sadly...I wasn't able to find an exit." She said looking more disappointed "I saw a vault, and I'm pretty sure it's the way out, but there was no way to open it."
Crow Claw soon looked at her and smiled softly "Hey, its alright." He said. "We can find another way out, besides, maybe Spike knows what to do"
"W-What?" I looked at Crow with a hint of confusion
"Yeah, Shining says your Princess Twilights assistant right? So that means you probably have some way to get out of this mess!"
Man, he's awfully cheery today isn't he. I soon cleared my throat and started to speak "Well..." I soon looked down and scratched the back of my head "I have an ability that can help me send letters to others, mostly Princess Celestia herself, so maybe I can try and send a letter to her and find a way to get us out of here."
Everyone seemed thrilled, well except Garble.
"Wait a second!" Garble shouted "Are you saying I need to have faith in some prissy pony princess!?" I soon sat back down as he was shouting at me.
"Hey!" Sweetie soon stood up and stared intensly at Garble. "You need to have respect for the princess, and at least Spike knows someone that's outside of this place. It's better then what the rest of us can do, and I'm pretty sure that the princess will-"
"Will what exactly?" Monokuma cut Sweetie off a he sat at the end of the table "Do you really think your princess will save you, how do you know she doesn't have anything better to do, or more importantly...what if she was... dead? Upupupu~"
I soon stood up and shook my head. "Hey d-don't joke about that!" I shouted "The princess is immortal, she also controls the sun, there's no way she could've been killed!"
Soon the bear looked at me and laughed "You honestly think that the princess is okay huh? Well then, how about you put your money where your mouth is hmm?"
The bear soon dimmed the lights and then showed us something....something disturbing...it was the princess..on her throne with multiple stab wounds from her head to her abdomen, The princess sat dead. There was so much blood....I honestly felt sick to my stomach.
As for the others, they looked really pale, even Garble was lost for words, but I think it got to Shining Armor the most, he worked side by side with the princess, and she even raised me, him, and Twilight when we we're little...but now this...this photograph... I didn't know what to do.
"W-What the hell is this!?" Button Mash shouted at the bear. "Is this some kind of stupid joke or something, This is even worse then when I lost to Sepharoth in Kingdom Hearts!!"
"I-Its okay Button..." Book Marker said shaking a bit "Th-This has to be s-some sort of prank or something, to motivate us to do something crazy too r-right?"
"No..." Riku stated, looking down "From what I can tell...this is not any Everwood Magic...its the real thing...I'm sorry but, your princess is dead.."
As soon as Riku finished talking I heard a shriek from Sweetie Belle who started to run away and went to the bathroom, then after she left, I heard that sadistic bear laughing his stupid laugh.
"Aww wook at dat~" he said cheerily "The poor wittle singer couldn't take the heat of despair! HAHAHAHA!"
Soon I leaped into action and followed her to the bathroom, I couldn't in, of course, but I still tried to do something.
"Sweetie?!" I shouted "I-I know things look bad but..." I honestly didn't know what to say...this was pretty tragic, the leader of the entire world was dead... how can anyone be okay at a time like this...
Sweetie Belle soon opened the door and looked at me with tears, it must have been too heart breaking for her.
"But what Spike?!" she protested, stomping her hoof in rage "W-Why in the world of Equestria would this...monster do such a thing, w-w-what did the princess do to him, for crying out loud, WHAT DID WE DO TO HIM!?"
I soon looked down and scratched my head, she was right. What did any of us do to this maniac, and why on Equis did they want us of all people? This wasn't going well. I didn't know what to say...but I said something.
"Stop it!" I shouted "I-I know it seems bad but...what about princess Luna or C-cadence...they'll come find us, and then we'll be-"
"SHUT UP!!" Sweetie shouted, interrupting me. "No one is coming to save us, for Celestia sake, Shining Armor is here, trapped with us. What makes you think that anypony will save us from this monster, just face the music Spike, we're gonna die here, all of us, and there's nothing we can do about it!"
"YOUR WRONG!" I retorted, looking at Sweetie Belle, holding her hooves together. "I know it seems bad right now...and someone might be stupid enough to kill somebody, maybe, but we need to stay together, if we do then nothing will happen to us. Sweetie Belle...I promise, I'll try my best to make sure you get out of here alive, then we can find your sister and I can find Twilight, and then everything will go back to normal...got it..?"
Sweetie soon trotted up to me then gave me a big warm hug, and started to cry on my shoulder, I felt her tears rushing down as I soon wrapped my arms around her back
"S-Spike...I'm so scared..." she said as she held on tighter.
"I-I know..." I said, looking down "I'm scared too..."
To tell you the truth, I was petrified...Princess Celestia, ruler of all of the land, Twilights mentor, everyponys friend...my mother...she was gone...but deep down, something told me not to give up...something told me that I need to keep fighting, and more importantly, for Sweetie, Shining, and everyone. I needed to make sure I didn't go insane and kill anyone. Maybe the girls will save us, or maybe princess Luna, or Cadence...but before that can happen...we need to stand together...as a team....as friends.
"Aww, look at that~" the bear said mockingly. "The poor pop star is sad that her leader's dead, isn't that just precious~?"
"Hey!" Crow yelled "Just leave them alone alright...they've been through a lot..." he soon looked at us with an assuring smile.
"What's that suppose to mean, I don't think they have been through anything...well...not yet I mean..upupupu~"
"W-Whats that suppose to mean?" Marker asked trembling a bit.
"Well my little friends," The bear began to speak "I know your all pretty bummed out about your leader dying and all, but that's nothing compared to what awaits you for at the AV room! Upupupu~ Your going to get cold hearts after you see whats in store for you!"
What is his problem...why does he like showing us such awful things...why do we have to feel despair. I honestly didn't like where this was going, but...I needed to see what was in store for us...what ever it may be, it wasn't gonna be pretty, that's for sure.
We all soon started walking and entered the AV room, each laptop sticky notes with our names on it, and then on the side it had a DVD and it said, 'play me'. I also saw a pair of headphones for me to listen to the recording. I had no choice. I turned on the laptop and then inserted the DVD inside. I saw my friends, they we're all sitting down together in the treeberry,smiling at the camera
"Spike!" Pinkie began shouting. "Good job getting into Hopes pPeak Academy! That's ,like, super hard to get into, but you did it! You must be really, really lucky! I'm a pretty good party thrower and all, but I never got the chance to- mpmphmphmph!!"
Pinkie endless prattle was interrupted by Rainbow Dash's hooves covering her mouth
"Hey there big guy." Dash said "I'm pretty jealous that you got to go to that school. Man, it must be awesome huh? Well, just do good and don't get into any fights, I'm pretty sure you'd lose all of them anyway!"
Dash got hit in the face by AJ's hat as soon as she mocked me.
"Rainbow, don't be rude!" Aj shouted as she put her hat back on. "Sorry sugarcube, but Ah hope y'all are havin' fun at that fancy shmancy school fer talented ponies and dragons, I'm sure you'll do great!"
Fluttershy soon looked at the camera and started...crying, typical Fluttershy.
"S-Spike" she said. "I-I'm so happy that your going to Hopes Peak, but...I-I'm going to miss you, we all are, p-p-please don't forget us!" she soon started hugging Pinkie Pie and cried on her shoulders.
Rarity soon started talking, and as usual, she sounded as elegant, like always.
"Spikey wikey~" Rarity said in a cutesy tone of voice. "I'm oh so happy for you and Sweetie Belle, but I need you to take good care of her alright?"
As soon as she said that I started to blush, I was already kinda taking care of her already...but I guess now I need to take better care of her huh?
And lastly I saw Twilight, my sister and best friend, she gave the camera a pleasant smile then started to speak
"Spike.." she said "I'm...going to miss you, I'm so proud that my number one assistant has the opportunity to go into such an amazing school, I mean...its incredible. I hope Shining Armor takes good care of you while he's chaperoning the school...I know I'll see you again, very soon...I promise Spike, it won't be that long."
As soon as she finished her sentence there was static messing with the transition and then as soon as the screen came back, I saw nothing but, blood everywhere...Dash, Pinkie, Apple Jack and Fluttershy we're laying down on the floor covered in blood. Twilight or Rarity couldn't be seen anywhere, but my friends...they we're killed by someone or something, the treeberrys all covered in blood, and worst of all, I don't know what happened to my other 2 friends.
I soon took off the headphones then closed the computer. I felt so sick, like I was going to throw up. I soon looked at the others, they had the exact same expressions on their faces, every one except Selena and Sweetie. I could probably understand why Selena wasn't afraid, but Sweetie belle...I don't get it.
"S-Sweetie..?" I said weakly as I looked at her. "Are...you gonna be okay?"
"...yeah..." she said as she gave me a weak smile "I-I'm gonna be fine Spike...not all of my friends are gone, I still have you right?"
I soon started blushing a bit when she said that. She's right though, at least I didn't lose her or Shining Armor. Speaking of which I looked at Shining who was next to me on the left and I saw complete rage in his eyes as he was starting to tear up.
"C....Cadance..." he studdered with increasing volume. "Wheres...my...w-wife...?"
Monokuma just laughed and then looked at the stallion.
"Don't worry shinney whinney~" He said teasingly. "I honestly have no idea where your wife is, honest! Upupu~"
"Don't you lie to me!" Shining said, as his horn started glowing "Where's my wife, tell me or I swear to Luna I'll-" Monokuma soon hushed Shining Armor by putting his paw in front of his mouth
"Ah Ah Ah~ I wouldn't do that if I we're you~" He soon took out a bunch of tablets and gave one to each of us "In those tablets holds all of the rules of the school of mutual killing, everyone must follow the rules...even the staff and faculty!" he stared at Shining Armor, who could only growl in anger.
"R-Rules..?" I asked "What rules?"
"There are a few set of rules here at Hopes Peak Academy, each rule is one that you all must follow, if by any chance you fail to follow them, then its curtains for you. Upupupu~"
I soon looked at the rules in my tablet, and they were all read in order
1. The headmasters’s sutudents will live a normal life, with no time limit in the school
2. The time between 10pm and 7am is called “Night Time” during night time there are places you are forbidden to enter, so be careful
3. Sleeping is only permitted in their dorms, sleep anywhere else, and you will be punished
4. You may investigate the school as you please. There are no special restrictions on your actions.
5. No violence is permitted against Monokuma, or any destruction of any cameras from any students, they will be punished
6. A “culprit” who kills a fellow student will be able to leave. However, no one must know that they are the culprit
7. Additional rules may be added by the headmaster at any time.
I saw the flames in Shining Armor's eyes. Soon, Beat Box looked at him and then put his hoof on his shoulder .
“Ey yo Shinney?” he said “You gonna be a’ight? You got that look in your eye.”
“I-I’m fine Beat Box...” he said looking down to the floor. “J-Just leave me alone alright?...I need to go to my dorm...I need to cool down...”
“You sure bro..?”
“GODDAMN IT I SAID I’M FINE!!” he suddenly shouted at Beat Box. Everyone stepped back as we watched him leave the room, slamming the door in complete ire.
“Upupupu~” Monokuma started laughing again. I hated that stupid laugh “Well well, looks like culprit number one has been announced, how despairingly exciting, I wonder who he’ll kill first, maybe the Mail mare, or maybe that Brony Rapper reject or maybe even-”
“Are you done?” Selena asked, interrupting Monokuma “Quite honestly I’m sure Shining is strong enough to stay calm and more importantly NOT murder anyone, I understand what he’s going through but...I have faith in him..”
Everyone just stood there, dumbfounded, including me. I didn’t think she’d defend anyone really, she was pretty serious and mysterious too. I had to help out my bro. He needed me...and quite honestly...I needed him.
As soon as everyone left, I walked back to my dorm but then saw Derpy stop by, she looked pretty sad. Something must’ve happened so I walked towards her “H-Hey Derpy” I said looking at her “Is there something wrong, you look pretty down?”
“My...babies..” she said weakly “I was thinking about them all day...and now...I...oh Spike, I’m just afraid that Sparkler and Dinky are...g-gone..”
I soon hugged her tight, she looked like she needed one, so I tried the best I could to comfort her...it was really sad seeing her like this, she’s usually so happy, I mean...I can’t think of anything that I could do at a situation like this. I never had kids of my own or anything, what was I suppose to do?
“Look derpy” I said “Maybe it’s best if you got some sleep, it’s been a long day and everyone's freaking out...just please, don’t do anything stupid…”
“Stupid!?” She soon got up on all fours and pushed me away. “Oh I get it ‘hey look it’s stupid old Derpy, is she gonna eat a muffin or something? You know Spike, just because of the fact my eyes are like this doesn't mean I’m an idiot alright? You think I’m just some stupid mare who will do anything anypony tells them!? Do you really think i’m some kind of buffoon!? "
I soon backed away scared. I didn't think I’ve ever seen Derpy angry at anypony before...and of course, I had to be the one she was mad at.
“L-Look derpy..” I said coming a bit closer. “I didn’t mean anything by-”
“Well you know what mister Princess Twilight’s assistant!?” she yelled, interrupting my sentence. “You of all people shouldn’t talk to me about how ‘dumb’ I am….Everypony knows you're an idiot...Twilight and her friends only has you around because of the fact that you're only good as an errand boy, a servant….a pet!”
As soon as she said that, I grabbed her by the shoulder and then slammed her to the wall, and...I felt different. I heard from Carrot Top and even Dinky that sometimes, Derpy can be, pretty harsh to people when they talk about her kids badly or threaten them, but what she said right there, she went way too far...something inside me...came out...something...that had been swelling up deep inside of me for the longest time, it felt like a monster.
“Excuse me?” I said with a lower tone of voice as I somehow grew a bit taller, now I used my left claw to wrap it around her throat “Do you know what it’s like for me, being an outcast, being treated like i’m some sort of monster, and you know what, maybe you're right...maybe I AM a monster...and maybe….I’ll do you a favor...and kill you right now…”
As soon as I took my free claw out to probably kill the grey mare, I heard a shriek coming from Sweetie. I turened and everypony was staring at me as I was going to kill her, I soon looked at Derpy who I was now choking. My anger quickly subsided as I dropped her and then backed up as fast as I could. I hit the wall with my back. I soon started panting as I shrank back to normal size...I looked at Derpy who was crying as she soon ran towards Vinyl and then hugged her tightly.
“Shame on you…” Vinyl said as she kept hugging Derpy, staring me down. “You have absolutely no right to do that to her man! What the hell is wrong with you!?”
“Hey Scratch,” Soarin said looking at her. “Take it easy on him, maybe Derpy provoked him in some-”
“Shut your mouth Soarin, no one deserves to be treated like that by some kind of monster like him. Look at how pathetic he is, choking a poor, innocent mare. He should be put in a cage or something. For crying out loud he’s not even a real pony! Just a lizard with no friends!”
Garble and Riku looked at Vinyl with anger in their eyes, but as soon as Vinyl was going to rant on, Sweetie Belle soon looked at Vinyl and swiftly smacked her in the face. Everybody just gasped as Vinyl let go of Derpy and started rubbing her left cheek, falling onto the floor. Sweetie Belle walked over to me and picked me up.
“Come on Spike..." she said. “Lets get out of here...” She started to help me walk back to my dorm. I soon looked down and started to cry.
“What...what the fuck is wrong with me…?”
