Ditzy heard the clock tower toll 4 o' clock. She sat up.
"Oh no!" she exclaimed, "I should've been home half an hour ago! Dinky's already home from school, she's probably worries!"
Wiping her tears with her hoof, the grey pegasus flew off to her house.
She touched down in front of the door, and opened it.
"I'm home!" she called.
"Mommy! Mommy you're home!" cried a high pitched voice, then a little light purple unicorn filly ran into the front living room and hugged Ditzy hard.
"Yes Dinky, I'm home," replied Ditzy, hugging her back.
"What took you so long?" Dinky asked.
"There was...a lot of mail today," Ditzy lied, not wanting her child to worry about her, "I had to work overtime."
Then a brown stallion walked into the room.
"Hey Doctor," said Ditzy, letting go of Dinky and went over to her husband, Doctor Whooves.
"Have a good day at work Ditzy?" he asked.
"Yes," replied Ditzy, then said a bit softer, "I guess."
Doctor Whooves looked at her and said, "Ditzy, you need to get over it, you should know by now that they aren't going to stop calling you Derpy."
"I know," Ditzy sighed, "It's just-" She was cut off by Doctor Whooves, who gave her a hug.
"It's okay," he said to her, and then he turned to Dinky, who was just sitting there wonderin what her parents were talking about. "Hey Dinky, didn't you have a surprise for your mother?"
Dinky's eyes brightened and ran off.
"She insisted on wrapping one for you," said Doctor Hooves, "There's more if you want."
Ditzy was about to reply when Dinky ran back in the room carrying a box wrapped like a present. She placed it down in front of Ditzy. "Come on, open it!"
"Alright, I will," Ditzy said with a small chuckle. She opened it and laughed when she saw what it was. She picked it up. It was a muffin.
"It's blueberry!" exclaimed Dinky, "Your favorite!"
"It is my favorite, thank you Dinky," replied Ditzy.
"I made them all by myself!" said Dinky. Doctor Whooves made a look.
"Fine," said Dinky, " daddy helped a little." Her father gave her another look.
Dinky rolled her eyes, "Fine, a lot."
Ditzy lightly elbowed her husband, then said, "It's fine Dinky, I like them all the same. Now let's go sit down and eat shall we?"
So they sat down in the dining room and ate their blueberry muffins, and Ditzy thought that she was so lucky to have a family like hers.
