The Blue-Blood of the Bon-Bon

by Duke of Canterlot

The Mother

Prince Blueblood was a good kisser, thought Bon-Bon.
The two ponies engaged in a long and passionate kiss.
Bon-Bon could tell that Blueblood was really into her.

"Prince Blueblood and Lady Bon-Bon, we should get going now. Blueblood's mother might grow worried."

It was Sotheby.

The two finished their kiss.
Blueblood whispered in Bon-Bon's ear, "You must meet my mother. She has been wanting to meet you so badly."

"I think I'll have time for that, my mother isn't worried about me.

'That is awful. I suppose it is because you're a daughter and not a son. I have heard that mothers favor their sons."

So delightfully naïve, thought Bon-Bon. Blueblood was just a momma's boy.
The two of them got into the limo.

"Who told you that, Blueblood?"

"My mother."

"L O L, you crack me up, you know that, right?"

"I suppose things are different in Ponyville then."

"Yes, they are. Mothers abandon their children upon birth at Ponyville. We all live in a cramped orphanage together and have to fend for ourselves. No mommies where we are."

"Oh my", said Blueblood with a hint of sarcasm, "I suppose I should worry about having a child with you. It shall be most sad if you treat our child like a Ponyville mother."

"Depends on how well you treat me", said Bon-Bon with a subtle wink.

"As long as you don't become like one of those dreadful 'Ponyville moms', I will treat you like a queen."

A queen? Please tell me. Of what are you a king?"

"I, Blueblood, am the King of Sexiness. I am the epitome of what is sexy and what is not."

"So, it's sexy to be a little momma's boy."

"Yes. A man should always have good relations with his mother."

Good answer, thought Bon-Bon, he was probably better at comebacks than she was.

Bon-Bon smiled and kissed Blueblood on the cheek.

"I have made you proud?"

"Nope. I am just a little slut that kisses everything in sight."

"Well well, Ms. Sassy. I will need to keep an eye out on that."

Bon-Bon wanted to make a joke about kissing Blueblood's mother, but she had a feeling that wouldn't go over too well even if Blueblood pretend to find it amusing.

The two ponies arrived at Blueblood's castle.

"Thank you, Sotheby, for driving us back", said Bon-Bon.

"My pleasure, Lady Bon-Bon. Lady Opulence is looking forward to meeting you."

"Likewise."

The castle was incredible. Bon-Bon couldn't believe that Blueblood actually lived in this place. It wasn't as large as the Heartstrings mansion but the interior was much more elegant and well-polished.

"Wow, this castle looks like it is fit for a prince", commented Bon-Bon, "who lives here?"

"This will soon be your castle, my lady."

"But who owns the castle now? You don't look like you would belong in here."

"If that is the case, I must not be a resident of this castle. I will research the matter and get back to you whenever I get an answer."

"My shining knight, always thinking of what is best for me."

"That is the truth, Ms. Sweetie Drops", Blueblood kissed Bon-Bon on the forehead.

"I see that you're a little slut that kisses everything on sight too, perhaps we are made for each other."

"Perhaps."

"A little slut that kisses everything on sight, huh", asked a sharp and feminine voice.

Oops, did Blueblood's mother just hear that?

"Ho ho, mother", said Blueblood, "I would like you to meet Lady Bon-Bon."

"Lady Bon-Bon? Hmmmm", said Lady Opulence while looking up and down to examine Bon-Bon, "you look like a lady, but I just heard you not sound like one."

Bon-Bon was scared, just when she was beginning to like the prince, was his mother going to axe it?
She felt herself tremble. Despite what she had just said, Bon-Bon was normally soft-spoken and polite.
"I'm sorry, it was an...", began Bon-Bon.

"My fault", interrupted Blueblood, "I shared some inappropriate jokes with the lady and she was simply repeating what I had said."

"Oh, so that is what happened", said Lady Opulence, "all is forgiven! My little boy can make all the jokes he wants, isn't that right?"

"Yes, it is, mother."

"But", said Lady Opulence sternly, "does this mean my son has fallen in love with a parrot?"

Blueblood laughed loudly. He knew quite well that Bon-Bon was no parrot.

"No, my lady", said Bon-Bon, "I know the difference between what is offensive and what is not offensive. I should have known better to not say such things in the castle. I apologize, my lady, and I hope that you can forgive me."

"We shall see", said Lady Opulence, "I warned my son that Ponyville-raised ponies aren't the most civilized."

"It is okay", said Bon-Bon, "my mother has warned me that Canterlot-raised ponies can be quite stuck-up."

"Your mother was wrong."

"As are you."

"Her eating habits are better than mine", said Blueblood.

"Ladies are held to much stricter standards, my son", responded Lady Opulence, "where in heaven's name did you get that dress?"

"Oh, this thing", said Bon-Bon, "I actually got this from my friend's mother."

"Hmmmm, I noticed it looked distinctly Ponyville."

"Funny, you say that", responded Bon-Bon, "I actually obtained this dress from Canterlot. My friend's mother is Ruby Heartstrings. It was a dress she handed down to me while I was at Canterlot University."

"You know Ruby Heartstrings?"

"Mother", said Blueblood, "I told you that I met Bon-Bon through Lyra."

"Hmmm", said Lady Opulence, "so you know the Heartstrings quite well?

"Yes, I do", responded Bon-Bon, "particularly, Lyra Heartstrings of course."

"Friend of the Heartstrings", said Lady Opulence slowly.

"Oh my gosh", said Lady Opulence much quicker, "please do not Ruby and Emerald Heartstrings if I offended you in any way. They are high society to the extreme."

"It's okay, mother", said Blueblood, "so, do you approve of Lady Bon-Bon?"

"What would Emerald and Ruby think about you two marrying?"

"Lyra is okay with it", said Bon-Bon, "she took the loss most gracefully."

"Good thing too", said Blueblood, "last thing I need is to be forced to marry some in-bred high-society mare."

Eh, Bon-Bon would let that pass this one time. She did know that Emerald and Ruby were cousins, so the statement was truthful and Blueblood knew it was true.

"In-breeding isn't that common of course", said Lady Opulence, "but it would explain Lyra and her obsession with humans."

The two of them laughed. Bon-Bon wanted to slap them both right there, even if they were right.
Bon-Bon needed to tell them that she disapproved, screw the consequences. This was Lyra they were insulting.

"Umm, excuse me", said Bon-Bon, "Lyra is a very good friend of mine and it upsets me to hear you two talk about her like that. I might even have to tell Mr. and Mrs. Heartstrings what I heard."

"Oh no no", said Lady Opulence shaking her head quickly, "I am dreadfully sorry. I sometimes forget to think before I speak."

"It is alright, mother", said Blueblood, "I should take the blame on this one. The only point I was trying to make is that proper breeding is more than where you have come from, but Turquoise is a sweet mare. I just didn't think she was right for me. Ms. Bon-Bon, you said she agrees, correct?"

"Yes, she does", said Bon-Bon.
Bon-Bon decided to leave out the part that Lyra found the whole thing hilarious.

"I won't tell Mr. and Mrs. Heartstrings what I had heard from either of you", said Bon-Bon, "it is okay. You both were being honest and that is something of importance and a trait I never expected Blueblood to possess."

"I have never met a lady like you before", said Blueblood.

"Oh yes", said Lady Opulence, "I asked him how the other three ladies were and he could only talk about you."

"Wow", said Bon-Bon, "I always kind of saw myself as a simple pony from Ponyville. There's nothing special about me. The other three mares who were there had much more to their name."

"Nothing special about you", asked Blueblood with a laugh, "that is nonsense! I can barely stand most mares and I tolerate your presence fully and willingly."

"Is that why you ignored those three ladies completely on your dates", asked Lady Opulence, "are they mares you cannot tolerate? I hoof-picked the most high class mares just for you and you turn them down for the self-proclaimed simple pony from Ponyville."

"Self-proclaimed is the key word", said Blueblood, "and you know what, mother. I know exactly what the problem was. You picked all my dates for me. All you did was pick the daughters of your friends and that disappointed me. You never thought about what I wanted. I hated that so much. They all looked at me like I was going to crown them princesses. There was only one pony in the room who seemed to not treat me so superficially and that was Bon-Bon."

"If that is what you want", said Lady Opulence, "go ahead and marry Bon-Bon. She is.. um... well, please don't tell the Heartstrings what I am about to say."

"Fine, I promise", said Bon-Bon.

"Class is more than your upbringing. My dear Blueblood, what I am about to tell you will shock you."

"It is okay, mother."

"I was born and raised in Ponyville myself", said Lady Opulence, "I even was friends with a mare that looks an awful lot like you. Her name is Candy Crush."

"Candy Crush? That's my mother!"

"She's a lot like you. Well-mannered, but an insufferable smartass."

"It's okay, mother", said Blueblood, "I knew about that years ago! Father told me."

Lady Opulence groaned, "Of course, he would."

Blueblood whispered in Bon-Bon's ear, "I told you that you would like my mother."

"Awww, she's like me", whispered Bon-Bon back, "I guess you want to be a momma's boy to me too."

"Nonsense, you twit."

"So, mother", said Blueblood, "do you approve of the wedding?"

"I do", said Lady Opulence, "I think Bon-Bon has the potential to be a high society lady."

"Thank you, mother", said Blueblood, "the final question is..."

Blueblood bent down and pulled out a small gold box, "Ms. Sweetie Bon-Bon Drops, will you marry me?"
