Chapter one: Humble Beginnings (written by chrisharte97)

Princess Twilight was just reading one of the books she took out of the old castle in the Everfree Forest that Princesses Celestia and Luna used to rule in when they were younger at the Ponyville park, when she heard somepony say to her, “Twilight, dear, are you sure you want to read all of those books all day?” She turned around to see one of her best friends Rarity was standing next to her.

“Oh, hey Rarity,” she greeted her friend, “And yes, I’m sure I want to read all these books we found in the old castle. I mean, can you just imagine wanting to learn knowledge that was just lost for over a thousand years?”

“Of course Twilight, but not all in one day, maybe you should take a break from reading.”

Twilight was surprised to hear what her friend had just said. “What do mean take a break from reading, Rarity?” she asked her with a confused look on her face, “I take breaks from my reading.”
“Apparently not enough breaks,” Rarity muttered to herself.

“What was that Rarity?”

“Nothing,” Rarity said to Twilight, with a sheepish grin on her face.

Twilight then looked at her books then she looked at some little fillies playing a game of catch together before she said with a sigh, “Maybe you’re right Rarity, maybe I do need a break from all this reading, perhaps I should go to the beach, and relax.”

“That sounds like a great idea darling,” Rarity agreed with a nod, “I hear the beach is perfect this time of year.”

“I guess I’ll see you later then Rarity,” Twilight said using her magic to hold on to her books and as she walked back to her library.
“See you later Twilight,” Rarity said to Twilight as she was waving goodbye to her best friend.

A few minutes later...

Spike was getting everything ready for Twilight’s trip to the beach when Twilight came up to her and asked him, “Spike can you watch over the library while I’m gone?”

“Sure Twilight,” Spike nodded, “I can do that for you.”

“Thank you Spike, I’ll see you later,” Twilight said as she grabbed her bags and flew out the door.

“See ya’ Twilight,” Spike said waving goodbye to her, “Have fun at the beach.”

As Twilight was flying towards the beach, she noticed that something was glowing brightly, and it was headed straight for her. The light began to blind her to the point where she couldn't see where she was going and forced her to crash to wherever ground there was. When the blinding light was gone, she opened her eyes and the first thing that she noticed that she had hands meaning was a human again, but she also noticed that the clothes she wore were not the same as the ones she wore back in the human world she knew. Her clothes were more on the lines of what colonial Equestrians would have wore back in the eighteenth century.

“I must be in a different timeline in the human world then,” Twilight said to herself as she soon noticed a ship that wasn't too big and too small and was flying a black flag with a skull, two crossed swords, and a strange symbol over the skull itself.

She could also hear the whole crew of the strange ship singing a song that she'd never heard before. And without thinking twice, she started to wave her arms frantically as she tried to call out to the crew of the ship yelling, “Hey, hey, hey, over here… I need some help!” Hoping that it would get their attention for sure. But for a second, she thought that didn't hear her so she tried again. “Hey, hey… Over here… Can you hear me… I need some help over here!!!”

She thought none of the crew heard her. Suddenly, one of the crew members dived into the water and started swimming towards her. Twilight couldn't tell who he was, but she had a feeling he was someone very important on that ship. And she was about to find out why.
