//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 // Story: Feathermane the Breezie // by timeblitz //------------------------------// Chapter 1 Feathermane lightly stepped out onto the floor. She had been hiding in a mouse hole in Fluttershy's home. She had heard Fluttershy trying to usher out all of her travel buddies but she wanted to stay. After all nopony would miss her at home. Well, except maybe Petaldress her co-worker. They worked at a small flower shop on the edge of town. Unlike Ponyville florists, they sold not only flowers but dresses and other clothes made of various plants. Feathermane looked around the cottage. She saw nothing she hadn't seen before. Bird houses, food dishes, and the occasional creature flittering about the home. Feathermane decided to explore. She hadn't gone upstairs yet so with a few flaps of her wings she went to the second floor. Once up she landed on a bedside drawer. On the drawer was a glass of water and a lamp. From on the drawer she could get a good look of the room. Nothing special stood out. She could see a pony sized bed, a few shelves, a dresser, and the drawer she was standing on. Feathermane heard a noise from downstairs. She quickly flew down to investigate. Fluttershy was closing the door behind her. She set down her saddle bags and lay down on the couch. She cuddled inside a fluffy blue blanket and soon fell asleep. One could hardly blame her as she had had a very eventful day. Feathermane flew down to the sleeping form. She noticed a blue flower from her village in her mane. She had no idea what had happened after the rest of the breezies had left, only that they didn't notice her absence. Feathermane flew over to the kitchen hoping to find something to eat. She hadn't been among the many breezies to have had bite sized sandwiches prepared by Fluttershy. Feathermane found a few sandwiches on a small platter. They must have been leftover from earlier that day. After having a few Feathermane settled down on the counter for a nap. There was no changing her mind now, the gate had closed awhile ago.
