Octavia woke up in a panic. Her brain had just realized that she was not in her own bed and put on the immediate Where am I? What am I doing here? Who's in bed with me? GET THE BUCK OFF MY BED YOU RAPIST!! mode. Before she remembered that she was in Canterlot, she kicked Vinyl right off the bed with surprising force.
Vinyl woke up, for some reason her stomach hurt and she was laying next to a strange bed, she saw a dark shape lean over her. Her mind went Here we go again as Vinyl lifted up the strange mare with her magic and tossed her against a wall. Vinyl got up slowly and walked over to the mare that was on the floor clutching her head and moaning "Ooouuuch". Then it seemed to click in, she was in Canterlot with...
"OH GOD TAVI!!! I'M SORRY" Vinyl yelled as she realized what she had done.
"It's ok" moaned Octavia, "I did kinda launch you off the bed." She slowly got up and walked over to the kitchen. "My head hurts, I'm going to make myself a coffee" After all, coffee fixes everything.
After a coffee and some pastries, Vinyl and Octavia were already feeling better. They sat down on the couch and started making plans for the day. After a good half hour of planning, they decided to put their plan into action. Octavia readied up two saddle bags whilst Vinyl went and knocked at Lyra and Bonbon's place. The door opened, revealing a very tired Bonbon.
"Hey Bon, we're going to the castle later today, Octavia said there's a really nice place to eat lunch and we'll get to the garden afterwards. Then we'll come back here and prepare for the concert!" Vinyl said excitedly
Bonbon just looked at her and nodded. "Alright, we'll be out in a couple of minutes, Lyra just needs to finish her shower." She closed the door quite roughly and then yelled out to Lyra, "Are you done yet?"
Lyra responded, annoyed. "Well if you hadn't made that big of a mess last night, I might be done by now!"
Yup, this is going to be a great day Vinyl thought to herself, grinning at the thought of what her two friends had been doing.
Vinyl walked back into her room and smiled at Octavia. "Guess what Lyra and Bon were doing last night!"
Octavia only sighed and facehoofed, then she walked over to Vinyl and kissed her passionately. Vinyl was confused and happy, like a puppy getting extra food before a long trip.
"What was that for?" She asked when Octavia finally released her.
"Oh, nothing much, just something to pass the time while Lyra and Bonbon get ready for today" She responded, before kissing Vinyl once again, longer than before.
"Ahheem" Lyra cleared her throat, she had been staring at Vinyl and Octavia for the past three minutes and they hadn't noticed her because they were too busy kissing. "We're ready"
Octavia jumped so high, she almost broke the ceiling. Vinyl just looked back at Lyra with a look that said I'll get you back for that. After several minutes of calming down a very jumpy Octavia, the four friends were finally on their way to the royal castle. Vinyl was taking note of all of the bars on the way, making a point of visiting each one of those on Sunday night. They finally got to the castle and decided to split up.
Lyra and Octavia headed straight for the orchestral stage, there was always someone there, playing soothing music, far away from all of the younger hooligans Octavia was going to have to entertain later.
Vinyl decided to head to the nearest bar and see how many ponies knew her, two or three stallions in the crowd recognized her, but no one else knew her, so she went around, making a name for herself in all the bars around the castle. By lunchtime, she could walk into a bar and at least half the ponies knew who she was.
Bonbon had completely disappeared, she had decided to check out the candy shops in canterlot and was horrified by one place in particular, the Sugar Saddle. Bonbon walked into the shop and started inspecting everything, there was so much wrong that she had to do something. She walked up to the vendor, holding out a tissue.
"Does this smell like chloroform to you?" Bonbon asked, shoving the tissue into the poor pony's face. She waited until he was completely knocked out, then she dragged him behind the counter. Then she got to work.
After a good 30 minutes of work, Bonbon had completely rearranged the shop and the amount of money coming in was insane. Bonbon decided it was time to go when the stallion she had knocked out started stirring. She left the money on the counter with a note saying 'You're welcome' and sprinted out of the shop. Looking at her watch, she saw she was already late for lunch.
"There you are!" Lyra called out to Bonbon as she noticed her walking towards the table. "where were you?'
"I was helping a candy shop reorganize" Bonbon smiled as she half-lied and sat down. "Poor guy was down on sales."
"Well, you're here now, would you like some?" Lyra asked holding out her daisy burger.
After a very good lunch, the group got up and started to head for the castle garden. They could see it from where they were because a big 30,000 hoof area with only trees and flowers is kind of hard to miss. They passed the gates and into the garden. It was quite peaceful. The group once again split up. Vinyl and Octavia went in the direction of the forest and Lyra and Bonbon decided to go to the flower section.
"This place doesn't look too friendly!" Vinyl mentioned, seeing the fence around the forest. "I mean the keep out signs are a pretty good hint we should go in right?"
Octavia sighed as Vinyl climbed over the fence and into the forest. I guess I need to go in too then. Vinyl is such an idiot sometimes. she thought.
Once they were both inside, they started to notice little things that were off. There were papers stuck to trees and a big bulletin board with hundred's of posters about missing ponies.
"You know what" Vinyl said nervously. "I think we should go look at the flowers."
"Agreed" Octavia squeaked.
They both quickly climbed over the fence and back to the entrance of the park, then they walked into the direction Lyra and Bonbon had gone. They came upon the flower garden and almost forgot about the forest. The garden was very well kept and the flowers were beautiful.
"This is amazing" Octavia thought out loud.
"Yeah definitively!" Vinyl answered enthusiastically.
Octavia looked over to Vinyl confused. Vinyl hated gardens. "What have you been smok-" She stopped herself as she followed Vinyl's gaze. "Is that?"
"Yup" Vinyl said grinning
"No"
"Yes, it's her"
"It can't be. She wouldn't talk to Lyra and Bonbon."
"Well she is!" Vinyl said laughing. "Princess Luna is talking to Lyra and Bonbon."
"Let's go see her" Octavia said, her voice was as excided as a little filly on her birthday.
"Alright."
The couple trotted over to the princess and her friends. Lyra and Bonbon saw them approach and waved at them, the princess mirrored their action.
"Hey Lyra, hey Bon, Princess" Vinyl said bowing to a chuckling Luna. Octavia also bowed.
"Oh, come now Vinyl. Thou hast no nee to bow before me. I visit thou every 5 moons an we talk." Luna said, now grinning.
Vinyl started to laugh. "Oh come on Luna, why can't you let me have some fun sometimes."
"Vinyl dear, care to explain." Octavia looked Confuzzled.
"I'll tell you later." Vinyl said simply.
The four friend talked and had fun with the Princess, at one point, Vinyl brought up the forest and Luna said she would show them why it was closed in a couple days. They talked about almost everything, but as the day progressed, Vinyl remembered where she had to be later that night and checked the time.
"Ummm Tavi, we should probably head back to the apartment" Vinyl said worried. "Our concert starts in an hour."
"Oh crap" Octavia started running back to the hotel.
Vinyl smiled. "I'll see you at the concert Luna" She said before teleporting back to her apartment.
Lyra and Bonbon stayed with the Princess and the three of them started slowly walking to the bar.
Octavia was out of breath, she had only run a quarter of the way before she had gotten dizzy. Now she was getting even worse as she sat on a bench. Suddenly her world flipped upside down and she found herself in the apartment next to a grinning Vinyl.
"Well hello Octavia!" Vinyl exclaimed chowing down on a tulip sandwich. "Ow wu reby Foa da qwoncer?" She swallowed and repeated the question. "You ready for the concert?"
"Yes Vinyl" Octavia responded quickly kissing Vinyl and stealing a piece of her sandwich.
"Cool, your Cello is already there and hooked up to my mixing station."
"That's nice, now will you tell me what's the deal with you and the Princess?" Octavia asked
"She just comes to me in my dreams and helps me with my troubles. She helped me get together with you" Vinyl said.
Octavia blushed. They shared a long kiss before finally the time had come for them to head to the bar. They met up with Million Maker and they started heading to the bar, laughing and talking. On the way, Octavia was half tempted to go to the smoke shop. Vinyl noticed this and remembered the time Twilight told Tavi to try ten things to trespass the trippy terrestrial trap. they finally made it to the bar. There was a long line of ponies, but Million walked right up to the front and walked in with a smile at the bouncer.
"This is awesome!" Vinyl exclaimed. Her ruby eyes taking in everything at once.
"Yeah whatever, let's just go backstage." Octavia said rolling her eyes.
The couple made it backstage alive and double checked everything. Octavia leaned over and kissed Vinyl, then she pulled out a pair of purple sunglasses.
"Here, I bought these at the music store. Put those on during the concert and you wont have the fuss of explaining the red eyes." She handed them to Vinyl who put them on, grinning.
"Thanks Tavi!" They shared a long kiss. Vinyl was feeling all nice and fuzzy when the announcer said there was a very special guest today.
Vinyl climbed up onto stage, followed by Octavia. she got behind the mixing station, noticing Luna and her friend in the back of the bar, watching her. She leaned over the microphone and yelled at the top of her lungs.
"DJPON3 IN THE HOUSE!!!!!! LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!" The cheers from the audience gave her enough time to load the first track onto her station and start it up.
Electronic music filled the room. Vinyl smiled and added a bit more bass, testing the crowd's reaction. She wobbled the track a bit and then came the drop. Vinyl held it. The anticipation had risen to such an insane level, you could taste the drool coming out of everypony's mouth. This was how Vinyl liked her music, under her control.
She brought her hoof down yelling "YOU CAN'T HAVE CHOCOLATE ON A PEANUT BUTTER BREAD" and dropped the bass.
The crowd went wild. When the song was over, everypony in the bar was yelling her name. The amount of emotions flowing through her body were unexplainable.
She grinned at the crowd and smiled at Octavia. "Ready?" Octavia lifted her bow as a response.
Everypony in the bar who knew Vinyl from her online shows knew what was about to happen. This is what made DJPON3 famous. Octavia started playing, the smooth sound of the Cello rolled over the crowd. The intro was just Octavia, but after a good 20 seconds, Vinyl started adding a beat. Slow and steady, but slowly becoming faster as Octavia picked up the speed. The song was now at 160, the crowd was getting ready. Vinyl nodded at Octavia who played a very fast passage, all staccato. Silence filled the room.
Then Octavia played the scale, Highest to lowest note in less than a second. Vinyl came in and added electronic music, the blend was perfect. She had chosen a very high song and Octavia was playing the bass line. The crowd went nuts. The only one controlling them was Vinyl and she knew it.
The concert ended too fast, Vinyl knew an hour had passed and saw the announcer telling her Showtime was over. Vinyl sighed and told the crown to have a great night and that she would be at the bar to talk for the whole nigh. Octavia smiled and said that she would also be there. The crowd went insane again and the clapping could be heard at least 3 blocks down.
They met up with Million in the back. "Vinyl THAT WAS AMAZING!!!" He said offering them both a paycheck with 18'000 bits written.
Vinyl looked at the check. "Wasn't it 16'000 bits?" She asked.
"Here's some professional advice, don't question the paycheck unless in has less then what you were told" Million said winking. "We earned more money than we expected tonight.
Vinyl smiled at Million and headed out to the bar thinking I have another whole day tomorrow, might as well stay up later. She grinned at Octavia who grinned back. They entered hoof in hoof and immediately got swarmed by hundreds of ponies wanting an autograph. This is going to be a long night Vinyl thought, already holding out a pen and signing papers and posters. Then she looked over at Octavia, who had just as many ponies on her. I might as well enjoy it Vinyl thought, seeing the look on Octavia's face.
They sat down with Lyra and Bonbon, still signing autographs, this had been the greatest night of their life. This was the night they would never forget.
