Chapter 2
The mystery begins/Enter W. Part 2
Kamen Rider. A name given to the heroes who fight for Justice. The few who would put there lives on the line to protect the innocent. These masked warriors ride into battle regardless of the danger. The title of Kamen Rider goes back far beyond the time before the two sister Princesses came to power. There stores have been told throughout the ages. I am only half of one of these heroes. I am half of Kamen Rider W

The masked warrior stared down the magma monster as he stood for a few seconds after saying his line in a fighting stance. He charged at full speed towards the monster before delivering a few light jabs. The monster swung his arms to attack but the warrior dodged and countered with a roundhouse kick. The monster stumbled back. He started to fire magma balls at the armored pony but he evaded the projectiles until one hit and knocked him to the ground. The monster then turned his attention towards Rarity who was still amazed at the battle in front of her. The monster started to form a larger magma ball and aimed it at Rarity.
"Shotaro, Rarity's in trouble!" Phillip's voice side as the red eye plate on the right side of the helmet lit up
"Don't worry. We can handle it," Shotaro's voice replied. He got back up and closed the belt. He replaced the rectangles with ones that were red and silver. He then crossed his hoofs like before and the belt yelled out.
"HEAT!METAL!
The two halves changed colors. The green half was now red and the black half was silver with a strange rod on his back. He then ran at full speed to intercept the lava ball. He stood in front of Rarity as he pulled out the rod. The rod then extended into a bow staff and started to spin to break up the lava ball. Rarity was still in amazement as to what she was watching.
"Are you alright?" Shotaro asked as Rarity stood speechless and her pupils grew to the size of pin holes.
"Don't worry I'll explain everything later"
The Dopant began charging at the two. Flames formed around the Metal Shaft as the warrior ran and stopped the attack. He then jump kicked the crater in the Dopant's head and sent it flying back a distance. He then began to hit the Dopant with the flaming rod.
"Let's end this thing now." The two voice said. He then closed the belt and replaced the two rectangles with the ones he used at the beginning of the battle. He then opened it back into the W shape
"CYCLONE!JOKER!"
With the two sides returning back to green and black the armored pony removed the purple rectangle and placed it into a black slot on the side of the belt. The belt cried out again.
"JOKER!MAXIMUM DRIVE!"
A cyclone formed as he was lifted in to the air. When he was high enough he hit a button on the slot and began to fly straight towards the Dopant. Halfway the pony began to split in two as both voices yelled out.
"JOKER XTREME!"
A cyclone formed around the green half pushing the black half until both kicks hit the monster. Rarity's jaw dropped as the two halves reunited into one pony. The hero turned around away from the Dopant as he exploded. As the flames cleared, the tan, blond haired stallion fell to the ground. The mysterious rectangle came out of him and flew through the air before falling apart in front of Rarity's hooves.
The armored pony closed the belt and pulled out the two rectangles. A second later the armor disappeared leaving behind the fedora wearing detective. Rarity shook her head to snap herself out of the shock of seeing something so amazing before running towards Shotaro. "What in Celestia's name was that!? Who is that stallion!? How did that armor appear on you!? Why where you speaking in two voices!?"
Shotaro adjusted his hat before looking at Rarity. "I can't explain everything now but I can tell you who he is. His name is Needle Point, a designer from Canterlot who was going to be the next big thing. That was until Golden Thread stepped up and stole his spotlight. He was so consumed with jealousy that he used the Gaia Memory to burn down any business that sold her clothing. It's a shame too, my favorite hat is a Golden Thread original."
"Oh my, I can't believe that somepony wold do such a foul act of violence" Rarity said. "By the way, thank you for saving my life."
"It was no trouble at all. We'll head back to the library as soon as I contact the Royal Guards nearby to pick this guy up." Shotaro said as he pulled out the device that he used to talk to Phillip earlier.
"By the way I've been meaning to ask. What is that thing?"
"It's a Stag Phone." Shotaro answered. "It's one of Phillip's invention. It has two uses. One is to allow me to talk to anypony who has another one anywhere in the world. And I was just about to show you the second one." Shotaro then pulled out another Gaia Memory only this one was different. It wasn't as sleek as the ones he used in battle and was covered in exposed machine parts. Instead of a stylized letter it had an image of a stag beetle. He put the memory into a slot at the bottom of the phone. The voice that came from it was different too.
"STAG!"
In a matter of seconds the phone transformed into a mechanical beetle. It floated in the air before flying off into the sky. "Well then, since that's taken care, of let's get going." The two began to wake towards the library.

In the library Twilight was in a frenzy. In her hooves was the unconscious unicorn that she just met. She sent Spike out to go find help but Twilight was worried that something really bad had happened to Phillip. "This is bad, really really bad. What am I going to do? There's a stallion laying lifeless on my floor and I have no idea what's wrong with him. Maybe if I use that defibrillator spell I learned last week it'll wake him up." With few options left, Twilight's horn began to glow with magic. After a few seconds Phillip's eyes sprang open.
"Clear!" Twilight yelled out
"No, wait Twilight I..." But before Phillip could finish he was electrocuted by Twilight's magic.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"
Phillip was flung across the room hitting a book shelf, causing the book on top to fall on to him. "Oh my goodness! Phillip are you alright?" Twilight ran to help the gray unicorn up. He dusted himself off and looked back at the librarian.
"I am so sorry. I didn't mean to make the spell that powerful."
"Don't worry about it. I've lived through worst." Phillip replied. "The work me and Shotaro do can get pretty dangerous."
"By the way, why are you two here? I mean if Princess Celestia called you it must be important."
"I don't know. The letter we got only told us to come to Ponyville and look for a lavender unicorn with a star cutie mark. I guess all the information on the job is in that scroll that you gave Shotaro."
After mentioning his name the door opened. Standing outside were Shotaro, Rarity, Spike, and nurse Red Heart. Rarity ran straight through the doorway eager to tell her friend about what just happened to her." Twilight you simply must have been there. There was this monster and Shotaro turned into a armored pony which by the way I find his design tacky. Not a big fan of the hole half and half look..."
"Ahem" nurse Red Heart interrupted with a pissed off face. "I was told that there was an unconscious pony."
"Oh yeah. He got better" Twilight said with a nervous smile on her face. Nurse Redheart sighed and face-hoofed
"I hope you realize that you pulled me away from some very important work."
"But when I got to the hospital I saw you reading a magazine." Spike said
The nurse stood still for a moment. "I need to back to the hospital." And then she bulleted out of the library.
"I think it's time we explain everything Phillip" Shotaro said.

The four ponies sat around the table. Spike was serving tea as Shotaro and Phillip finished telling the two mares about the Gaia Memories and about Kamen Rider W. They told the two that the Gaia Memories are an ancient magic dating back to before Equestria was founded. Nobody knows who or what created them but they disappeared when Celestia's and Luna's mother joined forces with the first Kamen Rider, a pony named Ichigo. But recently the Gaia Memories started to show up again.
"So let me get this straight. You two use this "Driver" thing to send Phillip's mind into Shotaro's body and then you become this Kamen Rider guy?" Twilight said trying to grasp what the two stallions told her.
"Well it's more complicated than that but yes" Phillip said as he lifted the cup of tea with his magic.
"And what's with those Dopant things?" Rarity asked as she taking a sip of her tea.
"Any creature who uses a Gaia Memory transforms into a Dopant and are not only a danger to others but themselves as well." Shotaro answered. "Oh I almost forgot the letter" he pulled out the scroll out of his pocket.
"What does it say?" The young dragon asked
"Hold on. Let me read it first."Shotaro said. He started to read the letter outloud.

Dear Sokichi
It's been a while since we last spoke. How's that young colt that follows you around? Anyway it has come to my attention that Gaia Memories have started to reemerge. The Royal Guards have manage to track the distributor to Ponyville. Normally I would send my student and her friends to handle this problem but I fear that this is too dangerous for them. That is why I ask you to come to this town. I need you to find and stop whoever is responsible for causing so much terror. My student and her friends shall help you in any way they can. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get you any housing. Sorry

"So even the Princess knows about this problem. I should have guessed she would know." Shotaro said as he put the letter down."I just didn't know that she knew the boss so well."
"Who is this Sokichi?" Twilight asked
"He was my mentor." Shotaro said as he took off his hat "He taught me everything I know about being a hard boiled detective. Unfortunately he's left us two years ago."
"I'm so sorry for your loss." Rarity said."You know after everything that has happened today and the fact that you and Phillip are homeless I'm willing to offer you the room that I’m renting out. After all you did save my life." Rarity said.
"That is very generous of you Rarity, thank you," Shotaro said. At that moment Rarity got two new housemates and Ponyville got a new hero.
