//------------------------------// // Entry #10 January 12, 2190 // Story: Starswirl's Journal // by AlesFlamas //------------------------------// The morning arrived before I was able to rest or make any serious thought on the subject matter of Honeydew. . . I mean the mud-dweller's letter. I'm not sure why, but I just can't shake the question she posed to me: Why can't we get along just because we're different. I know the answer: because we are so fundamentally different both physically and culturally, by all rights it should be impossible for any of us to get along except under the most necessary of circumstances, as has been the situation for as long as anypony can remember. The Pegasi have created weather necessary for proper natural balance, the mud-dwellers have grown the food required to sustain all of pony-kind and the unicorns have raised the sun and moon accordingly for proper adjustment of the internal clock of all living creatures. As stated, a situation born of necessity. But have any of us ever actually tried to get along? Certainly the children of our races do not seem to know they must hate one another. And again, I must ask: must we teach them? Perhaps I shall pose the question to King Aurum when I meet him. But then again, perhaps not. . .
