Chapter 1: This Will Be The Day(Intro)

They see you as small and helpless
They see you as just a child
Surprise when they find out that a warrior will soon run wild

It was just another peaceful day in Ponyville, and nothing unusual was happening. Twilight was practicing some more advanced teleportation spells, and things were going well. Spike handed Twilight the next book in the pile, opened to a specific page titled Portal. Spike looked at her and asked her, “Twilight, don’t you think this might be just a little bit dangerous?” Twilight looked at the book and replied, “I haven’t failed a single spell all day, and I don’t see why this could be any different. But I’ll do four tries only. If I don’t get it right in four tries, I’ll stop the spells.”

“Fine.”

“Alright.” Twilight’s horn lit up, and the room began lighting up along with it. As her horn lit up more and more, a small portal opened up in front of her. As it slowly expanded, it slowly faded. The portal was red, almost a rose color, and it had formed itself in front of Twilight. It was a portal big enough to fit three ponies, and it seemed to be there enough to work. Twilight tapped it with her hoof, and it vanished in front of her, sending her crashing into a bookshelf. “Well, that didn’t work...”

Out in the Everfree Forest, almost in the center of it, a red portal appeared, almost rose colored, and it was large enough to fit three ponies. Oddly enough, it wasn’t as faded as Twilight’s portal. Perhaps she opened the portal in the wrong place.

Twilight made another attempt. Spike was this time on the upper floor, and the room lit up brighter and brighter as Twilight’s horn did. The glow gathered into a white portal, another portal of which faded as it grew. This portal, much like the other, was faded, but unlike the other, had varying illusions around it. Some of fire lines going out from it, around, and back in it in another spot. Some of ice lines doing the same, and others of lightning lines following suit. But what stood out was the fact that through the portal what could be seen was what looked like a city. Twilight touched it again to try to go through, but it once again vanished to an unknown location. Twilight began getting concerned that she could be unleashing things on Equestria she wouldn’t want to unleash. She puhed this feeling away, and hoped she could get it right on a third attempt.

Meanwhile, as the portal vanished from the library, a strange white portal appeared in Manehatten. Well, it wasn’t exactly in Manehatten as much as it was close enough to it that ponies might consider its location part of the city. This wasn’t any ordinary portal, though. Twilight’s portal’s strange illusions were occurring around this one too, and there were more this time. The view of the strange city was still slightly visible through the portal, and it seemed as though it may have been the same portal. If this was the case, then perhaps the red portal was also Twilight’s portal.

Back at Twilight’s place, she decided it was time for attempt number three. Focusing on the objective of the spell, where she was, and where she wanted to portal to exit, her horn lit up, followed by the room. Another portal appeared in front of her, this time black, still faded and fading as it grew. She had to take a break, but it slowly shrank as it became more solid in color. She caught her breath and quickly continued to try opening the portal. It was there now fully, still faded, and her hoof reached out for it. This portal didn’t vanish, it caused some strange winds, and then seemed to blow through the wall…

Meanwhile, in the Crystal Empire, a strange black portal appeared, seemingly from nowhere, followed by some cold winds. After a few seconds, the winds died down, and the portal was there, just outside the border. If it was unnoticed, it wouldn’t surprise anypony, but then again, how could it be noticed where it is? There was something odd about these three portals…Very odd indeed…

Twilight knew it was her last attempt. “Alright, Spike. If this doesn’t work, I’ll stop. That’s what we agreed on.” She lit her horn and concentrated, as the room grew brighter and brighter every second. A yellow portal that looked almost like fire opened in front of her, fading as it grew, as did the rest. This one grew bigger than the rest, covering almost the entire library, and almost not showing at all. Twilight didn’t need to even reach out this time, as the portal vanished into an illusion of fire. “Well, that’s four. Guess you’ll be done for now, right?” Spike Asked. Twilight nodded, and began to think of where the portals may have gone…

Meanwhile, in Canterlot, atop the castle, a strange yellow portal that almost looked like a portal of fire appeared, and was oddly unnoticed. These portals were the very ones Twilight opened, but little did she, or anypony, know what the end result of portals like these could be. The dangers ahead of Twilight and her friends were to be discovered at a later point in time, and Spike himself had a feeling those portals vanishing was bad news. And he was right. Equestria is in danger unknown to anypony, and there’s so much to do to protect it. Twilight figured out just how to find the portals…But if only it were possible. “Why do I always think of impossible ideas?” She asked Spike. He replied, “I dunno, but I don’t like this. Let’s be careful of anything strange.”

“Sure.”
