Tesla stood in the basement, trying to take in what just happened to him,
"Why did she kiss me?" Tesla thought to himself.
He went over to his chair and slumped down onto the soft cushioning, with one of his forelegs resting on the arm of the chair, which itself was keeping his head a rest on his hoof. Whilst trying to comfort himself, he sighed to himself, he looked over to his machine, then the pulse, then the several blackboards and finally looked over at the open door Twilight exited out of. He sighed once more,
"Maybe she wants to be more than friends?" Tesla asked himself.
Twilight went over to her bed, she moved the scrolled letter from her bed to her bedside table and dived face first into her pillow,
"Oh my God!" She screamed into her pillow leaving nothing more than a muffled yell.
She turned around, so that her back was on her bed, she tried to relax herself, but started to fidget more. She felt embarrassed about what happened only a few minutes ago. Twilight doesn't know how to feel about her own feelings for Tesla. She found him fascinating, handsome and felt as if she could say anything to him. But she never knew why she kissed him, it felt like she had no control over it, like it happened spontaneously for her. She lied on her bed, staring at her ceiling, closed her eyes for about a minute before reopening them with glistening tears,
"I shouldn't have done that" Twilight said to herself in regret, "That was so damn stupid"
She dragged herself up from her bed and decided to to go downstairs and sort herself a glass of water to ease the tension and anxiety she was feeling. She opened her cupboard to see only four glasses left in there, she levitated one out and put it in the sink, she moved the tap just above the glass and turned the knob that released the cold water into her glass, she levitated the glass took a big sip until a familiar voice called from the main room,
"Twilight?"
Twilight recognized what was Tesla's accent, which she found attractive, once she heard him, she knew he was going to talk to her about the kiss, it made her swallow her water wrong and she ended up coughing, which made Tesla follow over to her,
"Twilight?" Tesla tried to get her attention, "We need to talk"
Twilight looked away from him, she was still embarrassed about the kiss, she couldn't look him in the eye, it was painful for her to even do that,
"Twilight. Please listen to me. I'm not angry and you don't need to feel angry or embarrassed about it, let's just talk it out" Tesla said.
Twilight sighed, "Okay"
"You have feelings for me, I never knew that. Why do you like me?" Tesla asked.
"I guess, I can...well, relate to you" Twilight replied.
"How?" Tesla asked.
"You're kind of a loner and weird, I was like that. You're also really smart and sort of... good-looking for somepony of your age, I would've kept my feelings to myself, but I couldn't control myself down in the basement. I guess I started to like you a bit more" Twilight told him.
Tesla chuckled at the thought of how many times women have desperately fell for him, to him, it felt uncountable,
"What's so funny?" Twilight asked anxiously.
"So many women have developed romantic feelings for me in some way. It's maddening" Tesla joked.
"I can't imagine why they do. You're a nice pony" Twilight smiled.
"I'm not a pony though" Tesla said.
"I guess..." Twilight said.
"Twilight, I know you have feelings for me, but we have stay just friends, okay?" Tesla told her, "I'm a man, you're a pony, it won't work, and to top that off, you're about thirty years my junior"
Twilight sighed, "You're right"
"Look, don't feel bad about it, Twilight. If I did get together with you, I'd eventually have to leave, and that would just hurt you even more, and I don't want to do that to you" Tesla said.
"Promise me you won't tell any of the girls what just happened please?" Twilight made sure.
"I promise" Tesla said as he began to exit the kitchen.
"Oh, also..." Twilight stopped him, "..Before you go, I wanted to say, our ruler, Princess Celestia, wants to see you about the technology you've made, so I've arranged to go see her soon, you okay with that?" Twilight asked.
Tesla wasn't too sure. He felt that Twilight should have discussed this with him first before agreeing to meeting up with the Princess. He assumes he doesn't really have much of a choice anyways,
"I guess so" Tesla said.
"Okay, she'll probably get back to me about it soon" Twilight told him.
"Alright, I'm going to go back to the basement, Twilight. Bye" Tesla said.
"Bye.." Twilight said.
Tesla exited the kitchen and made his way towards the basements and closed the door behind him and he went back to his pulse, leaving Twilight alone in the kitchen,
"...I love you" She said to the inventor who wasn't there.
Another week passed. Tesla's nineteenth day. The snow was cleared by a team of weather Pegasi, and it was now the day for Tesla, Twilight and the rest to go to Canterlot and visit the Princess. They stood at the train station, awaiting for the express,
"What's this town called again?" Tesla asked.
"Canterlot" Twilight replied.
"It's a very nice place, Nikola darling. Very sophisticated. A seemingly well-classed stallion like yourself should love the little visit" Rarity told him.
"Sounds very nice, Rarity" Nikola said.
"It ain't too great" Applejack mumbled.
Pinkie was bouncing up and down beside the hovering Rainbow Dash, Pinkie then stopped and slumped to the ground and moaned,
"God!" She said slowly, "When is this train going to arrive? I'm sooo bored"
"It'll be here soon, Pinkie" Rainbow Dash told her.
"Oh, okay then" Pinkie replied as she shot back up and waited patiently.
"Pinkie, you are so..." Rainbow Dash began.
"Random?" Pinkie asked, "I KNOW!" She said as she jumped in the air, "It's great being random!"
"Yeah, sure" Rainbow said whilst cracking a smile.
Fluttershy was worried, she had left her pets with Spike, she was worried that he wasn't going to be able to handle them all, Spike even had to look after Owlwiscious, Tank, Opalescence, Winona and Gummy as well, he had a lot to do,
"Do you think the pets will be alright?" Fluttershy asked.
"Yeah, Fluttershy. They'll be fine, Spike has looked after his own pet for a while, remember his pet phoenix?" Twilight reassured.
"Oh yeah, you're right Twilight" Fluttershy said, feeling more calm.
About a minute passed until the train finally arrived, when they entered the carriage, they handed their tickets to the conductor and they sat in the seats they wanted to. Tesla sat in a seat that was closest to the window, beside him was Rarity, and on the two seats across from them was Twilight and Applejack, in front of them was Fluttershy and Rainbow, and on the seats across from them and in front of Rarity and Tesla was Pinkie,
"So Twilight, am I going to have to rebuild the teleportation machine?" Tesla asked across to Twilight.
"Yeah, just for a brief demonstration" Twilight replied loudly.
"Do you want me to swap with you, Twilight, so you can speak to Nikola more clearly?" Rarity asked.
"Okay Rarity, thank you" Twilight thanked.
"Not a problem, dear" Rarity replied as the both of them swapped seats.
Twilight was now sitting beside Tesla, the kiss the two shared a week prior was still one Twilight's mind, but she was hoping he forgot about it, even though she knew that he wouldn't forget about the kiss that quickly, but she still hoped,
"So yeah, as I said, you'll need to rebuild the machine for a brief demonstration, it shouldn't take you too long to make it, right?" Twilight asked.
"No, it took me nine hours to do it the last time, but I'm used to my pony form, it should take me about three to four hours" Tesla replied.
"Oh okay then" Twilight whilst staring out into space.
There was a silence between the two, with only the steam of the train being released as it slowly moved onwards to Canterlot and the chatter between the other ponies in the carriage,
"Twilight, you're still thinking of last week, aren't you?" Tesla asked.
"What? No, of course not" She lied.
"Look, you've been acting strange since it happened, let's just act like how we were before the incident, okay?" Tesla asked.
"Okay" Twilight replied.
"How does this train journey take?" Tesla asked.
"About fifty minutes" Twilight said.
"Okay then, I'm going to have a little doze off, I haven't slept in about four days" Tesla told her.
"I'll wake you up once we get there" Twilight assured.
"Thank you, Twilight" Tesla replied.
"You're welcome" Twilight smiled shyly.
"Also, Twilight?" Asked Tesla.
"Yes?" She asked back.
"Try not to see what you did last week as a bad thing, okay?" Tesla replied.
Twilight sighed, "Okay"
