//------------------------------// // Chapter One-First Meetings // Story: Nothing Left to Say/Rocks // by EpicalnessAnonymus //------------------------------// Nothing Left to Say Part 1 When he first met her, she was eight and his beautiful Derpy was still with him. Naturally, there wasn't any attraction between them at that time. They were investigating some potentially dangerous alien activity when they first met Twilight. Well, actually they were stopping for some dinner at a restaurant. Twilight Sparkle herself was celebrating being taken in as Princess Celestia's personal student at her favorite restaurant, The Galloping Buffet. She had ran off by herself to get desert while her family wasn't looking. Meanwhile, the Doctor was sonicing a chocolate covered pear in disgust while Derpy laughed beside him. Ditzy, who seemed to possess a maternal instinct beyond her age (probably due to having to take care of her little sister Dinky and adopted sister Sparkler) was the first to notice Twilight. "Hey sweetie!" she cooed, smiling down at her. "Watcha dooin'?" Twilight tilted her head at the young woman and smiled back. "I'm getting dessert! I'm celebrating getting into Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns!" To demonstrate, the little dark skinned girl lit up her violet horn with a magenta light and picked up some sweets and plopped them on her plate. She grabbed a chocolate covered marshmallow, shoving it into her mouth with a triumphant grin, lavender eyes shining. She smiled back. "I'm Ditzy, but you can call me Derpy if you like, and this is the Doctor-hey, where'd he go?" The little girl made a confused expression. "His name is Doctor?" She tilted her head. "That's a strange name." The Doctor was listening and watching the exchange at this point. Derpy turned to him. "Hey, where have you been?!" "Right behind you, silly!" he said, looking around Ditzy to look at Twilight. "Why, hello little one! Seen anything strange around lately?" Twilight tilted her head. "Well, when I was taking my entrance exam, there was this strange, colorful explosion. I could feel it passing through me," she whispered, staring out into the distance with a dreamy look on her face. "That isn't quite what we're…" Derpy nudged him hard in his side. "Thank you, little one!" Suddenly, a teenage male ran up to the three of them. "Twily! There you are! Mom and dad are getting worried!" he cried. He noticed the other adults there. "Hey. Sorry if she bothered you." The Doctor waved his hand his hand dismissively. "Oh no, she's fine." Ditzy took more of an interest. "Wait, did you say 'Twily'?" The blue haired teen laughed. "Yeah, that's my nickname for my LSBFF! It's short for 'Twilight'." The pair walked back to their table as Ditzy held a hand clasped over her mouth. "Wonder what LSBFF stands for. Hmm, oh well." The Doctor turned back to Derpy. He frowned. "You okay, love?" She shook her head in shock. "Doctor, I think that was Shining Armor and Twilight Sparkle…" "I'm sorry, who?" "Twilight Sparkle. You know, Princess Celestia's personal student!" The Doctor turned around and stared at the young girl walking away. "Oh sweet Luna, you're right!" They stared at each other in thrilled disbelief. "I can't believe it. We met Twilight Sparkle literally right after…" the Doctor burst back into laughter, dancing around a bit in excitement. "…the sonic rainboom." Ditzy covered her mouth with her hands, squealing a bit. The other diners gave them odd looks as they ran back to their table. "I just can't even…" the Doctor leaned in. "Our newest alicorn princess and we met her up close and personal!" "I met a future princess! She's practically the stuff of fairy tales!" "Oh, and she was such a sweetheart too…" They sat in a comfortable silence. "I hope we meet her again," Derpy admitted quietly. The Doctor smiled. "Me too." Rocks Part 1 Pinkamena Diane Pie was still working at the rock farm when she first met the pretty unicorn. She and her younger sister had to work the small shop they owned selling the pretty rocks and the occasional gem to whoever came by. Her older sister Photo Finish went through the rocks and brought in the shiny and colorful ones, or polishing those that weren't. It was boring on the rock farm, especially for Pinkie, since she recently had gotten a cutie mark in partying. She was thrilled that day she found three balloons, two yellow, one blue, on her shoulder. Her pink curls fell lazily into her bored, cerulean eyes. Octavia was handling a customer with her usual grace and poise, and even though she rarely talked, she seemed to be handling herself pretty well. Pinkie let out a loud, spitty, breath that barely moved her hair when the bell at the door rang, signaling a customer either leaving or coming in. Luckily for Pinkie, it was the latter. She stared at her new customers, dark blue eyes staring back at her. When she snapped back to reality, she gave her opening speech with her usual cheerfulness. "Hello, welcome to the Pie Family Rock Store! May I help you?" The girl looked at her, seemingly unable of speech. "Come on, dear. Tell the worker what you want," a plump lady with a pink horn and a ridiculous outfit urged the girl, who was probably her daughter. Pinkie smiled reassuringly. "You can just look around, if you like." She got a nod in reply. Pinkie watched her from her place at the register. The girl and her mother had dark skin, which was somewhat new to Pinkie. All of her family were extremely pale, and so were most of her customers. Also, the girl had a whitish-grey horn, and the shop didn't get many unicorns, who tended to think that they were better than to buy from a simple family owned shop. Her violet hair and tail was neatly curled, and her white, lacy tank top showed three blue diamonds on her shoulder. She came back with a bag of shiny rocks that looked like jewels. "For costumes in a school play." her mother explained. Pinkie grinned. "Sounds fun! Good luck!" For the first time, the girl smiled back. And for the first time, she spoke: "Thank you." "You're welcome!" Pinkie called after her. She heard the girl's mother yell, "Rarity! Come along!" "Coming, mom!" Pinkie thought on this. "Rarity," she whispered, trying out the name. She rather liked the way it felt.
