//------------------------------// // Well, You See.... // Story: Confessions From A Lunaholic // by Starlight Shadow //------------------------------// Wake up. Yawn. Stretch. Check the calendar to see what day it is and what needs to get done..... "It's date night!" Twilight squeed and rushed down the stairs without bothering to brush her mane. Tonight was the very first monthly date night with Luna since the Kiss. Everything had to be just so, or so help her. Cupcakes, she'd need cupcakes, and tea, maybe she could ask Zecora for some of her good stuff. Or possibly a little light drink, she had some in the cupboard........ She briefly stopped and glanced in the dusty corner of the library. In that dusty corner was a dusty box, and in that dusty box was her fully illustrated copy of the Kamare Sutra. It had been a rather embarrassing birthday present from Celestia one year, and she had resolved to never even peek inside its pages. She shuddered and went back to making her checklist. "That should be everything, a nice night of stargazing is what we agreed on, I won't need anything too fancy." She blew faintly on the ink to dry it, then grabbed her checklist and shouted up the stairs that she was going out, then left for Sugarcube Corner, spirits high. About halfway down the path to the Corner, she began to skip, humming a little tune that a few passerby would recognize as "Honey and The Bee". A unicorn named Rarity was one of those passerby, and she was curious. She went and tapped Twi on the shoulder. "Twilight, what's got you so chipper? Have you finally found a date?" Rarity teased. Twilight stopped skipping and froze. She couldn't tell Rarity about Luna, not yet, she'd insist on telling the rest of their friends... "I'm going to get some cupcakes." It wasn't technically a lie, she was going to get cupcakes. The thought made her feel better. "You're unusually happy to just be getting cupcakes." Rarity raised her eyebrow. Twilight began to sweat a little. Rarity was unusually perceptive. If that eyebrow went up, seventy percent of the time you were found out. "Well, I heard Pinkie made a new flavor of cupcakes, I'm excited to see what they taste like." Rarity's eyebrow was still persistently raised as she walked away. Twilight waited until her diamond-studded flank was out of sight before letting out a sigh of relief, then resuming her skipping. **************************** Something went down that day of days. Something that not even the oldest Lunar Guards had ever witnessed. Ever. Something that Celestia had gone on record to say Luna never did. Luna was skipping. As well as humming a tune. Sure, she'd run and play with her sister quite a bit, and she'd fly for a bit on occasion, but skip? Blasphemy. She had to keep at least a few shards of dignity intact. To Tartarus with dignity on this day! Luna mentally shouted with glee. Today is our first date night with Twilight Sparkle! Wait. Not our. My. Come now, Luna, Tia's been doing her best to teach you new Equuish, you might as well use her teachings. She skipped along down the halls, her wings carrying her a short distance before she landed, immediately hopping into another skip. She had her eyes closed in joy during this activity, so looking back this was most likely the reason she smacked into Tia's flank. Her older sister looked down at her in amusement. "What's got you so happy, Lulu?" Luna began to sweat. As joyous as Twilight was, she was Tia's student, and a commoner. She couldn't have Tia know she was dating her, at least not yet..... "I got quite a few constellations done from the charts." She actually had, and she'd also made a special one for Twilight. That wasn't a lie, she just wasn't telling everything she knew. "Well, that's certainly good. Be careful not to bump into anypony else." "I will. Oh, and can I go down to Ponyville this evening?" "Sure." Celestia chuckled as Luna skipped off. Ever since Luna had gone down to introduce herself to the Ponyville ponies on their Nightmare Night, she'd been spending an awful lot of time there. She's up to something. You know, maybe I'll go down to Ponyville. **************************** "Okay. Cupcakes? Check. Tea? Check. Every book about stars, stargazing, and the night sky I own? Check. It's a good thing I'm so organized. Wait. I still need pillows!" Twilight took a few minutes to scatter pillows everywhere around the desk in the center of the library. She stepped back. "There." Somepony rapped smartly on the door. "Enter." A dark blue alicorn stepped in. She didn't need to comb her mane, as it was made of ethereal matter, but it had a combed appearance even so. "Hello, Twilight Sparkle." "Lulu!" Twilight nuzzled her. "I'm so glad you're here." "I'm glad to be here as well, Twilight. I was almost found out. When do you think we should tell them?" Twilight bit her lip. "I don't know. Once we've had a few more date nights, gotten on some more stable ground, then maybe, but not yet. Not now." Luna nuzzled her lavender comrade. "Alright then. I trust you. In the meantime, why don't we snuggle?" She patted the cushion next to her. Twilight happily obliged. *********************** Celestia glided neatly downwards, landing next to a white unicorn she recognized as Rarity. Rarity was so focused on the door that she didn't notice the princess for a full half minute. "Oh! Your Highness! Hello." She scrambled into a bow. "Rise, Miss Rarity. Are you here to visit Twilight as well?" She nodded. "She's been acting a bit odd, and she never goes out to get cupcakes just to see what they taste like, wasting precious research time. I'm going to see what's up." "Luna's been acting oddly as well. She was skipping earlier today, and she never skips. And she's been going down to Ponyville quite often." A slow smile crossed Celestia's lips. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Rarity squealed. "That they're dating? I hadn't considered that, but now that you mention it....Oh, that sneaky Twilight! I'm going in!" She squealed again and pushed open the door, to reveal Twilight and Luna cuddling cozily. They both froze as they heard her. "It's not what you think!" They both said at the same time, scooting rapidly away from each other. "I just wanted to find-" "We were just-" Rarity laughed. "Don't even bother. I'm happy for both of you!" Twilight relaxed. "Promise you'll keep this a secret from the others until we're ready to tell them, though, okay? Pinkie Promise?" "Cross my heart, wish to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." Rarity made the motions. Luna remained anxious. "Please tell me Sister isn't here." "Am I interrupting?" Celestia stepped in the doorway, noting Luna's mortification. "Lulu, you were far too obvious." Facecushions were now a thing. ********************* Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy sat atop a cloud, watching Twilight and Luna sit together, saying nothing. "They're so cute together. I wonder why they waited so long to tell us?" Fluttershy scooted a little closer to Rainbow Dash. "Eh, you know Twi. She's so shy about everything involving relationships, maybe she was scared. I could understand that. Or maybe she was just planning on keeping it a surprise until they got married." "And we'll never know." "But you know what we will know?" "What?" "That our love is by no means a secret." Rainbow leaned over and kissed Fluttershy.
