A Simple Repair
Part 1: Falling

I was working in my shop one day repairing a set of Aura wings. It's a lot of hard work and stress on my mind. Since a lot of people do their own repairs on their set of wings I normally just sell the parts. But every now and a blue moon get to repair a severely damaged set. "A quiet day as usual maybe I should close up shop early." I said to myself with a sigh. I looked at the set I was working on. "The amplifiers work and the joints seem to work just fine time for a test flight." I said smiling I put the wings on walking outside my shop. The wings outstretched with a quick motion I jumped into the air and began to hover off the ground "Seems to be working." I said as I floated back to the ground. "Now for the stress test." I said walking to the edge of the cliff outside my shop.
"How many times have I stood here without my wings wanting to jump?" I asked myself with a sigh. "Oh well I couldn't do it even if I wanted to." I smiled happily jumping off the cliff I felt the wind and the feeling of falling. I could have opened up the wings at any time but I liked the feeling I opened my eyes seeing the ground fast approaching. "Oh well time to fly." Smiling the wings opened as I re-positioned myself to slow my decent the wings strained and groaned under the heavy stress. "Keep holding just keep holding." I whispered as I suddenly rocketed up into the sky corkscrewing. "Now for some speed." I said pulling my oxygen mask and goggles on it looked like a gas-mask. Feeling the wind cease I hovered at the peak of assent I took off forward going as fast as I could manage I felt the world slow as I continued forward.
Something caught my eye someone running the maneuvering course I had set up in the canyon I dove down into the canyon doing the course as I went when I caught my first glimpse of the intruder I only saw hair of prismatic color I quickly caught up to them. "HEY!" I yelled to the intruder they suddenly pulled out of the course with a sonic boom. "Oh hell no you aren't getting away from me." I stated rocketing after them there was a second large sonic boom from me as I caught up. "HEY LAND!" I ordered. The figure turned around flying backwards she flicked me off as she pulled away. I felt my rage boil. "You want a race I will give you a race." I growled Launching ahead of them doing a corkscrew as I passed. I rocketed down back into the course. I saw the figure follow so I decided to take the stress course which had hair pin turns and caves to fly through.
The first section of the course leads up to the hardest part of the course boulders so close together you had to fly through them sideways the entire way. I made it through with ease but I saw something that made me turn around. I saw them clip a boulder and crash. "Dammit." I cursed flying to the sight of the intruder's crash. "Please don't be dead." I said now concerned as I saw the figure in a heap one of the wings was ripped off the other was damaged beyond repair I sighed. "Hey you ok." I said taking off my mask the intruder stired but didn't stand. I walked up to them I picked them up and slowly flew up the cliff face back to my shop.

I landed infront of my shop walking inside I took off their wings setting them aside for repairs the intruder groaned as they sat up. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have taken you to that test track not many can handle the second section at a slow speed." I stated looking back to see them taking off their coat and mask I saw it was a woman and damn she was beautiful.
"I shouldn't have trespassed then challenged you." The prismatic haired woman said calmly. "But I still would have won if the rock was out just a little more." She stated cockily I rolled my eyes. "Can I get my wings back?" She asked I only pointed at the hunk of what would now be scrap metal. "What did you do to my wings?" She asked anger in her voice. Now I was mad.
"This is what happens when you bite off more than you can chew." I said through gritted teeth. "If you were going faster than you were... Let's just say be happy the wings broke and not you." I said taking the wings I had on off setting them next to a set pure black wings. "I can fix them though." I stated walking over to the wings picking them up. "What do you do to these wings they are torn to shit even before the race. I'm surprised they didn't just shatter under the strain or your arrogant flying." I said as I felt a hand strike me across the face. I was stunned looking up at the girl who had a tear in her eye.
"Those wing's were my mothers show them some respect." She said trying to hold back her tears I couldn't be angry at her.
"I understand I'm sorry." I said as I pulled out a spare wing frame and began to work. "Give me a few hours and I will have them fully repaired." I looked over the work ahead of me I sighed. "Since the other wing is gone. Along with the fact almost every bolt is broken or cracked I will have to do a full overhaul of the wings." I sighed. "It would be easier if I just scrap these and start a new set but I will fix what I can on these." I smiled as I began to work.
"What is your name?" The woman asked me. Her question caught me off guard most people just say. 'fix these by Monday.' toss down money and walk out no one asked for my name.
"Frostwing." I said calmly as I began to take off what was left of the missing wing. "What about you Miss?" I asked taking out bolts and screws judging what needed to be replaced. I eventually decided to scrap all of the bolts and screws.
"I'm Rainbow Dash fastest flier in Equestria." She said with such pride but her maneuverability could use some work.
"Speed isn't everything Miss Dash." I stated blankly screwing in a new Aura amplifier. "Your maneuvering could use a lot of work." I looked up to see her annoyed with me. "I'm just speaking the truth Miss Dash." I continued to work I turned around and pulled out two welding masks. I tossed the second to Rainbow Dash. "Either wear that or cover your eyes." I put my mask on and began to work welding the new wing into place. "Why were you using my course anyway?" I asked Rainbow she only scoffed.
"I was practicing to become a Wonderbolt." She said as if it was the most well know fact. "Why do you even care?" She asked cold heartily.
"Miss Dash remember I am repairing your wings for free don't make me charge you for this work." I stated coldly.
"I bet it's not even that expensive." She said in a challenging tone. I turned the torch off.
"Let's see full wing replacement, 2 Aura Amplifiers Rainbow color which is rare, full joint overhaul, and the replacement of every screw and bolt." I began watching her reaction it was tough at first but then it began to crack. "The price of all of this is around 145,000 bits just for the parts alone." I said nonchalantly I saw her fall over the price gets them every time. "Hey I didn't even tell you what it would be if I included Labor." I saw her body twitch I laughed at her reaction.

A few Hours Later
Rainbow was sitting in the waiting area I came out with 2 sets of wings one set was pitch black the other was cyan in color. "I brought your wings back from the dead now let us begin the test flight they should be able to handle a lot more strain without failing." I stated putting my wings on along with my mask. I walked out the door waiting for Rainbow. When she came out I swear she looked like an angel I blushed under my mask. "Shall we begin?" I asked and she nodded. "Then lets fly." I said taking off into the sky leaving a black streak across the sky.
