Cutie Mark Adventure: Carnivorous Animal Care

I don't want to, but now I can't.

It shone.

Ever so dimly, but it shone.

It wasn't white. It wasn't bright. It was red that was shown.

"Well that's pretty much it" said Redd Chopp

Redd Chopp was a red fur coated earth pony mare with a brown mane and had a knife for a cutie mark.

"Wha? Oh yeah." replied Moon Glow

Moon Glow was a blue fur coated earth pony mare with a dark violet mane. She had no cutie mark.

"I know it's disgusting, but what else is going to fill up the snake's and bear's tummies? Picky eaters I tell you. Some of them have problem with digestion, which is why you need to chop it up into little pieces. Got it?"

"Yeah, got it."

"Good. You start in a week. I don't trust you enough yet. Don't get me wrong, you're fine with their food, but you might lose a hoof or two if you aren't careful. It's not their fault." Red Chop warned as she put the knife back in the knife block.

"Alright, got it. I'll be off then." Moon Glow said as she walked out the door.

Moon Glow went to the store to pick up some fresh vegetables and some meat for next week. She got her usual, the carrots, broccoli, some asparagus, tomatoes and hay, and then went to the "Animal Care" section. She saw squeaky toys, animal houses, bird feeders and the like, but the meat was in the far back. Smart placement, for some smaller fillies and colts might get scared at the sight. She took out a bag and started putting meat in it. Rabbit meat for the snakes, fish and elk hinds for the bears, and gazelle breast meat for the lions. She stared at the pool of blood with meat in it and started hearing ringing noises, but quickly snapped out of it. Moon Glow put the bag back in the cart and proceeded to the checkout.

"That would be 60 bits, Miss." The store clerk said.

"Um.. Of course." Moon Glow said as she reached for her purse and pulled out the bits. "This should be it."

"Excellent, would you like a receipt?"

"No thanks, I'd better get home now. It's getting late." Moon Glow said.

"Well, bye-bye then! Have a good day." Replied the clerk.

As Moon Glow was walking to her home, she crossed paths with Jack Lumber who was on duty.

Jack Lumber was a stallion with a muscular physique, which naturally comes with years of experience in wood cutting. He had a gray fur coat with a fading yellow mane, and 2 wooden logs next to an ax as a cutie mark.

"Oh hi, Moon Glow! How's the day treating you?" said Jack Lumber

"It's a fine day indeed. I hope you feel the same." Moon Glow replied as she walked home

"The feeling is mutual I see. Until next time then!" Jack Lumber said as he continued striking the tree.

*Thud* *THUD* *THUD* *SLICE*

"What?!" Moon Glow exclaimed.

"Is something the matter?" Jack lumber asked.

"No- nothing. I'm fine." Moon Glow said before she increased the speed of her gait and walked home.

"What is going on?" Moon Glow asked no one in particular.

Upon reaching her home, she slammed the door shut and latched the lock. She took a few deep breaths, and walked to the bathroom. There, she brushed her teeth and washed her face. She then went to her bedroom and fell asleep.

Moon Glow arose from her sleep late at night because of a noise she heard coming from the kitchen. Alarmed, she quickly went to the kitchen while trying to be as silent as possible, and reached to the entrance of the kitchen. She peeked in to the entrance and saw a brown earth pony stallion with a gray mane and a half-muscular physique rummaging through her cabinets.

She slowly walked up to her knife holster and reached for a knife. Each inch by inch which was slowly progressing towards the hilt, made her even more scared. As soon as she touched the hilt, it made a sound that alerted the Brown stallion to her presence.

"Shit." They both said.

The brown stallion threw a bowl towards Moon Glow and knocked her hoof off of the knives. Moon Glow winced in pain, but quickly recovered. The stallion was charging towards her. When they were about 5 inches apart, Moon Glow crouched, spun 180 degrees and landed on her front hoofs, and sprung her hind legs forward all in a quick motion, which stunned the stallion and caused him to spring back due to immense pain. Moon Glow quickly grabbed the knife and lunged towards him which knocked him to the floor. She pulled back the knife, ready to strike and --

"OKAY STOP! I GIVE, I GIVE!" Cried the stallion. "Please, just Please! Don't hurt me!"

"Get up." Moon glow sad as she backed off and kept the knife at the ready. The stallion got up and put his hooves in the air.

"I'm just going to walk out the door. Please just don't do anything. I didn't take anything, I swear."

The stallion started backing towards the door.

"You know what? No." said Moon Glow.

"Wha, what? What are yo- HGURK!" The stallion shouted.

"You heard me. No." Moon Glow said after she pierced the knife through his chest, twisting it sideways.

The Stallion spewed blood through his mouth.

"No, please... I- gh.. " The stallion gurgled.

"You shouldn't have tried that. Fool. Maybe this will teach you to not be a criminal? Huh?!"

"I.. no."

Moon Glow pulled the knife out of his chest and he fell to the ground.

"Hmph." Moon Glow grunted.

The stallions life slowly faded, as he lied in a pool of his own blood.

"Oh my god, what have I.." Moon Glow muttered

Moon Glow washed the knife in the sink, and then Moon Glow went back to her bathroom to take a shower and wash off the blood. Moon Glow went back to bed, and this time kept her knife underneath her pillow.

It shone.

Ever so dimly, but it shone.

It wasn't white. It wasn't bright. It was red that was shown.
