//------------------------------// // A Price to Be Paid // Story: A Price to Be Paid // by CaleMcManus21 //------------------------------// She and I have been together for a month and a half now. And I was chosen as her special some pony a week after she started realizing her true feelings about me. Is this wrong? No. Chase is engaged to Princess Twilight Sparkle, Remy and Spitfire began dating last week, and Jack is an official adopted son of the rulers of the Crystal Empire. So why is this relationship I'm having any different? Well... I'm about to find out that there's more to this relationship than Flutterbat and I realized. I was walking down one of the hallways of Canterlot with my hands in my jacket pockets. Not too long ago, Princess Celestia sent me a letter saying that when I have the time, I should see her. And since I'm kinda bored as hell, I'm using this time to do so. I arrived at Princess Celestia's room and knocked lightly on it. "Come in" I heard her say. I opened the door and saw the princess lying on her bed, using her magic to fill in some paperwork and sign documents. After writing on several scrolls, still using her magic, she moved the scrolls aside, and placed the quill pen in an ink bottle. "Cale..." She said seriously. "Please come here and close the door behind you." I stepped into the room and closed the door. Princess Celestia levitated two golden chalices and poured red wine into them. She then handed one of them to me with her magic. I took the chalice from its magic hold. "What's this about, Your Highness?" I asked. "There is a matter we have to discuss regarding your relationship with Flutterbat." Being careful with the wine-filled chalice, I sat on one of the cushions. "Now I want you to know that I completely respect her love for you, I really do. But it's you I'm worried about." I looked at her concerned. "You're having feelings for me? Your sister is having feelings for me?" I asked, panicked. "Neither" she answered. "You see..." She hesitated and glanced down at the wine in her chalice. She took a breath and looked at me almost pleadingly. "There is a price to be paid in your relationship." "What kind of price?" I asked. Princess Celestia sadly glanced down. "I'd rather not say... Instead, I'll just show you an image" she said. She got up and placed her horn gently on my forehead. She closed her eyes and certain images flashed into my mind. I gasped and almost dropped the chalice. Thank God I didn't. "Now I'm worried what Flutterbat will think" I said, catching my breath. "Is that the price that has to be paid?" Princess Celestia nodded. "I'm sorry Cale, but it has to be done." "Relax" I said. "You don't have to be sorry. If this means spending the rest of my life with her, so be it" I said. "You love her that much?" She asked. "I'd jump in front of any magic just for her. Even the ones that kill." Her eyes began to water. "Cale... You do know that this means you'll be normal during the day, but you'll be like her night, rightt?" she asked. "Are you sure you and Flutterbat can handle it?" "It's Flutterbat's reaction I'm worried about" I answered. Princess Celestia looked at the clock. "You have to break the news to her and have her bite you as soon as you can, because when the bell tolls 1..." "I'll make sure it happens." "Thank you" she said. We clinked our chalices and drank our wine. So what happens when the bell tolls 1 and I'm not bitten? Flutterbat will go insane and will want me for my blood and suck my blood dry. How to stop her? Shoot me in the heart. And everypony knows how much Flutterbat hates seeing me hurt. And let's not think about what will happen when she sees me get killed. I placed the chalice down and bowed to Princess Celestia. I got up and left the room with one thought in my mind. 'I'm going to have one hell of a night' I made my way outside and walked up a hill. This is the same hill where I fought and eventually befriended Flutterbat. It was also the same hill where a lot of Canterlot residents like to nap. Especially us humans. When I reached the top, Jack was leaning against a trees with two napping fillies on his lap. I walked past the three and sprawled on the grass, facing the sunny sky. 'How am I going to break the news to her?' I thought to myself. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. "Cale, Cale wake up" a voice said. I opened my eyes sleepily. The sun was still up and Remy was standing over me with a sniper rifle in his hand. "How long was I asleep?" I asked. "30 minutes" he answered. "What's with the gun?" I asked as I got to my feet. "We're needed in Ponyville" he answered. I looked to my right and saw Jack still napping with the fillies. "No, no... Just you and I" he added. "What for?" I asked. "I'll explain when we board the train. Now go gather your weapons" he said. The way he sounded right now told me that there is a serious issue at hand so I made my way to my room as quickly as I could. I had to be quiet and not wake Flutterbat. I walked over to the drawer and opened it. I pulled out a handgun, mag, and silencer. I inserted the mag, clipped on the silencer and headed for the doorway. I took one quick glance at the closet. 'I have to tell her eventually.' I exited my room, closed the door quietly and went to meet up with Remy at the Canterlot Train Station.
