Enter Mann Manor (a.k.a. Meet The Horseless Headless Horsemann)

I know I lied when I said the Halloween Arc will continue in the next chapter, but there's just too much other stuff do be done, like "The Return of Harmony" arc for my main story.

And I swear I didn't know about the Eternaween Enchantment prior to this. it was just an excuse for me to do all the Halloween Maps at once without waiting for an entire year for each.

At the BLU spawn area of Mann Manor…

"I'm tellin' ya! Their Sniper can teleport without a freakin' teleporter!"

"Don't be ridiculous, maggot! Horses can't teleport!"

"Oh, come on! We've seen them do all kinda things no horse can do! Like wings too small to really lift 'em, carry stuff without holdin' 'em, and we've seen other weirdos teleport without the hardhat's teleporters!"

"Scout's goot a point, Solly. We've seen and done some pret-ty crazy stuff in our entire career."

"If what you're sayin' is true, that's actually good intel, Scout. We haven't actually seen her do it, though."

"That's because when I saw her do it, her back was turned! Obviously they've been hidin' it!"

The BLU Scout, Soldier, Demoman, and Engineer were interrupted from their 'conversation' by the BLU Spy clearing his throat, who has just entered the spawn area; it wasn't setup time yet.

"Gentlemen!" On his right hand is what looked like an EqU Intelligence Briefcase. "It seems that EqU has dropped this while making their way to the RED side of this manor." He opened it, and what they saw made everybody's jaws drop in surprise (though one wouldn't know if the Pyro did).

"Да! New hats!" exclaimed the BLU Heavy as their Pyro took one of them. It was like their Mildly Disturbing Halloween Masks, except instead of crudely-drawn faces of the nine of them (or the nine in RED), it depicted the members of EqU with a random scary or angry expression. Two were missing and two different ones were in their place.

The one the Pyro was holding showed the face of his EqU counterpart without her mask, showing a pink coat lighter than her mane, which was straight down instead of in its usual curls. She also had quite a sadistic smile, putting even the BLU Medic a little on edge, but only a little.

"Apparently so," said the Spy as the BLU Soldier took one mask depicting a ferocious dragon with the same colors as that of the EqU Demoman. "I have also discovered something else about them."

"Enlighten us, Spy," replied the Engineer as the Medic held a mask depicting his EqU counterpart with a raging face.

"Well—"

"Mission begins in sixty seconds!" the Administrator's voice interrupted.

"After the fight, laborer, I promise." By this point, everybody else has acquired a mask. "Right now, we have an Endless Halloween to end." The two of them took the masks depicting their counterparts in EqU. The EqU Engineer looked overworked while the EqU Spy showed an expression of greed.

"Yeah. Imagine the looks on their faces when they see us with these," said the Scout as he changed his weapon loadout in the supply cabinet.

"I thought rainbows made you cry," teased the Spy.

"Fuck you, asshole. I ain't as scared now that I hafta see her face lotsa times! 'Sides, I figured the best way to get over it is to wear one."

"Suit yourself."

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

"Thenam! Where are the masks?!"

"Jothicu had them!"

"No. He was in the trailer, hiding it from the oncoming BLUs!"

"What's going on?"

Before the battle began, EqU had made it to Mann Manor, where they clashed with RED, who made it there first. They managed to win and evict the team from the manor, scoring their first win needed to end Merasmus's Eternal Halloween. It sort of reminded the Equestrians a bit of Nightmare Moon's eternal night. Curiously, the Horseless Headless Horsemann was absent for reasons unknown.

Before EqU could leave for the next location, BLU made it to the Manor and they had to stay and defend it and themselves. They wondered just how would they settle this with three sides, unless LUNA was fighting as well.

Right now, the Story Crew members (minus the medical researcher) were in the RED spawn area of Mann Manor, which was a cozy room with faded-red-and-white vertical wallpaper, a wooden floor, a couple of low-light lamps, and a red rug. Behind them was a staircase that led to a room sealed off by a glass wall and door. That room had a couple of machines, a trash bin, a desk, and a chair holding who Tasic called Redmond Mann. As a precaution, the glass was obscured with paint; there was no way they wanted him (or his brother) to know just who is intervening in their war.

The staircase split to the left and right and led to a higher floor, which in turn led to higher areas in the manor. As for the rest of the team, they were already setting up ahead, being the defenders in this map. Applejack had a Teleporter entrance set up inside the spawn area for him to catch up and for them to get back into the fight should they be sent away.

Tasic turned to face Chronicle, who was the one asking. "You see, Thenam here 'dropped' a briefcase containing your Halloween gifts."

"I still got those costume sets," quipped the tech researcher.

"Which is back in the trailer."

"I got this." Thenam produced a paper bag mask, which depicted Saxton Hale with devil horns.

"A Saxton Hale Mask?"

"Yeah."

"May I try it?" asked the EqU Heavy.

"Mission begins in thirty seconds!" The Administrator's voice came.

"Take it," conceded Tasic. "Use the Customizer on the resupply cabinet."

Ten seconds later, Chronicle was now wearing a Saxton Hale Mask over his head. Curiously, the paper bag mask didn't hamper his vision in any way, kinda like the disguise masks the Spies use. Well, except the BLU Spy; his Spytron 2000 uses cigarettes instead of paper masks.

"That mask isn't just for show. It also has a special effect. Sometimes, the Horseless Headless Horsemann will taunt by shouting 'Boo!', which works like the one the ghost in Harvest has. That mask will protect you from it. But ONLY against the Horsemann."

"Noted." The unicorn went over to the Teleporter, which began to whirl and do its work.

"Mission begins in ten seconds!"

"Good luck!" Thenam called. And soon the EqU Heavy was gone.

Chronicle found himself at the first control point, where Applejack also posted a Dispenser. She was waiting for him, in the process of upgrading her Sentry Gun.

"What took ya'?" she asked. "Whoa! Ya sure ya can see through that paper bag on yer head?"

"Been talking with Thenam and Tasic. And yes. Works like Rarity's disguise masks."

"Five!" came the Administrator.

"If you'll excuse me…"

"Four!"

"I'll just join the others." He began to flash-step to the BLU spawn area, where the rest were waiting just outside of.

"Three!"

"All right, Chronicle."

"Two!"

"Let's show em!"

"One!"

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

It hadn't been a good start for EqU, despite being just outside the BLU spawn area. The BLUs were really familiar with the place. Apparently, this Horseless Headless Horsemann was a key factor the REDs counted on in their fights in the manor. It also didn't help that the masks they wore showed their faces in strange expressions. Fluttershy was particularly frightened at the mask the BLU Medic was wearing, which showed the face she made when she went bonkers at the Grand Galloping Gala.

(A/N: EqU hadn't fought in Mountain Lab yet.)

They had been pushed back all the way to the first control point, and while they haven't been able to get close, they were able to smash Applejack's Level 3 Sentry. Before they could proceed further, some odd music and loud laughing came from seemingly nowhere.

"Hold yer fire!" the Engineer suddenly cried out. And everybody, even EqU, complied. Except the BLU Soldier, who launched a rocket that was deflected by an airblast before getting a glare (somehow) from his Texan teammate and stopping as well.

They had all heard it, but where did it come from? That was what the ponies and dragon were asking themselves, although the BLUs seemed to know.

Twilight was the first to ask. "What's going on?"

Suddenly, the first control point was encircled in flames. Anypony on it immediately jumped off of it and the others backed away and (sans Chronicle) gasped. Something humanoid was rising from the flames. It had some sort of pumpkin in its hand and was leaning against a huge axe. Whatever it was it, it wasn't human; it was what could only be called a monster. It had no skin, only bones. Suddenly, with a bony hand, it placed the pumpkin on its neck and rotated. Facial features were seemingly carved into the pumpkin. Only they were moving.

A grin was splitting the monster's face in half. "Oh," it said in an odd, almost happy sounding voice. "What a pleasure it is, finally being able to meet some new heads! And such cute ones too! No thanks to Merasmus messing with time magic, I had to miss out on one fight so I can adjust to the new feel of the place! But now that I'm finally here, I can't wait to get started! Allow me to introduce myself." The monster heaved its axe up and into the air.

With a single swing and in a blink, it sliced Derpy Hooves's head right off.

At least it would have were it not for the Respawn system sending her away before the axe could make contact.

The monster seemed to be a little surprised at this, but quickly shoved aside the thought as it then said, "You can call me the Horseless Headless Horsemann!" With another swing of his axe, he quickly sent Rarity away as well.

"Open fire!" two voices cried out. One was the BLU Engineer. The other was the EqU Heavy.

Both teams complied. But while one focused completely on the Horsemann, the other also attacked the other team while attacking the monster as well. Laughing, the Horsemann started to chase everybody, EqU and BLU alike, mainly the former as they scattered.

In short order, the Horsemann was busy swinging his axe at Rainbow Dash, who was flying just above his range and blasting his head with the Force-a-Nature. But she and the others realized that his head-hungry axe was hardly the worst part. He was fast, as in Scout-speed fast. Obviously, he was a lot bigger than the BLU Heavy. Before she could ponder on this a bit more, he shouted "BOO!!"

Instantly, in addition to a chill crawling up her spine, Rainbow's wings locked up, ironically like with Fluttershy, and she fell to the ground. "████!" And was struck by the Horsemann's axe, sending her away.

Thankfully for EqU, the next It happened to be the BLU Demoman, who had been pulled in by Applejack's Rodeo Wrangler. Fortunately for him, the subsequent buck sent him farther away from the Horsemann (in exchange for some serious damage), not having been the tauntkill. Unfortunately, he didn't have a shield with him, which he could've used to get away fast. Fortunately, he saw his counterpart backing up in his direction, evading the BLU Soldier's rockets.

Once the dragonling he remembered was named Spike was close enough, he conked him in the head with his bottle. "TAG! Yer it!" he said before incidentally being shot in the head by Twilight, who had discreetly teleported to the roof of the shed housing the second control point.

Upon reaching Spike, The HHH raised his axe, ready to chop off his head. Rather than run away, he decided to run straight between the Horsemann's legs. It was a successful maneuver as the axe dug itself into the ground. As he began to skate the other way…and into the second control point.

"Hey!" complained the Horsemann.

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

Elsewhere…

The Horsemann's arrival forced Thenam to deploy clones to assist in defeating him as well as defending against the opportunistic BLUs. At the manor's interior, Derpy was just finished eliminating a BLU Scout while at the balcony, when she felt something vanish.

She was previously being healed by via Medigun and now she wasn't. She turned around to see Fluttershy…and immediately smashed her face with the Pain Train, revealing her to be the BLU Spy, and killing him. Until the next respawn.

Because of her eyes, she sometimes gives off the effect that she isn't that threatening as the others, but experience made them not underestimate her regardless. She knew it was a Spy since her Medic was a clone. As it turns out, while the Disguise Kits now have the clone colors in its selection, the Your Eternal Reward can only access the 'original templates'. That, and Derpy saw Fluttershy seconds ago accompanying Pinkie.

(Unbeknownst to EqU, the BLU Spy has TWO Disguise Kits; the shape-shifting 2000, and the illusion-casting 3000. He's using the latter in this battle.)

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

Back at the first control point, an EqU Scout clone was capturing it while disarming the BLU Demoman's bombs around it with her pistol. Despite the guy having died earlier, which would make them disappear, it appears that the Administrator had mixed up the "rules" to favor the BLUs. While she said she openly hated them and the REDs, she hated the ponies more.

Unfortunately for the clone, the BLU Demoman has seen her and decided to blow them up, eliminating her.

And then an EqU Sniper clone landed a headshot on him from her vantage point.

And then the BLU Pyro set her on fire.
Who then lost his head to the Horsemann.

Who decided that the BLU Scout was to be It now.

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

In another part of the map, said Scout got the chills, and knew that he was Tagged. Luckily for him, he saw Spike retreating from the second control point, where some of his teammates were. He took the chance to approach him. The dragon immediately saw him coming, and cursed his arsenal for not being optimal for Scouts. Instead of getting a round of scattergun bullets however, he was just conked on the head with a bat.

"TAG, YOU'RE IT!" said the speedster as he went to the entrance to the manor proper.

"It?" Spike then got the shivers again. "What's this feeling I got?"

"It means you're It!" a voice came. "And it means I get to take your head if I can!" It was the Horseless Headless Horsemann. And he was headed straight for him.

Spike yelped and ran in a random direction; back to the second control point (being recaptured from BLU), where Applejack was fending off a dodgy BLU Soldier (who had just destroyed her Sentry) while Rarity provided cover fire behind the Dispenser.

(The Administrator had tweaked the rules so that RED can take back points captured by EqU, who also don't get extra time from re-recaptures. However, she—in a rare moment of imperfection—neglected to remove it once BLU was fighting them. And she can't modify the rules during matches.)

Upon seeing the Horsemann enter, all three concentrated fire on him. Spike took advantage and Tagged the BLU Soldier before saying, "Let's get out of here!"

Meanwhile, the BLU Soldier made a very risky rocket jump, arcing over the Horsemann's downward axe swing before landing on the opposite side and smacking the EqU Engineer (who was hauling her Dispenser) with his riding crop. Having heard of this weapon, Applejack took extreme offense to this, dropped the Dispenser, and prepared to buck the crazed American in the nads. Unfortunately, the Horsemann got to them first, also destroying the Dispenser in the process.

A cloaked Rarity witnessed this and immediately made herself scarce while Spike was already gone.

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

Inside the manor, Rainbow Dash shot a Pumpkin bomb just as a BLU Pyro passed it, blowing it and him up. She couldn't stop laughing every time it happens, although of course she hated it if the same was done to her or her friends.

She was shortly sent to limbo by a rocket from a Wrangled Level 3 Sentry from a higher floor.

"Another satisfied customer!" the Texan said to himself before he was gunned down from behind. His Sentry soon followed.

"Heheh," Chronicle smirked, having shot him down with the Tomislav. "Damn, that Horsemann's a real pain." He then noticed that a small, hollowed out pumpkin filled with two chocolate bars and candy corn hovering just above the ground. Another pickup? Wonder what it does. He approached it, acquiring it on contact, and his Tomislav began to crackle with power. Oh. Crits.

"BOO!"

In an instant, he turned around to see the Horseless Headless Horsemann, unaffected by the scare thanks to the Saxton Hale Mask. And immediately opened fire. The Horsemann shrugged off the attacks and swung his axe, only to hit an afterimage as the EqU Heavy flash-stepped behind him, then opened fire until the crit expired, then delivered a buck at his legs in an attempt to kick him off the edge…to no effect.

"You're more dense than you look," Chronicle remarked. "And I don't mean the mental type."

"Why, thank you!" said the Horsemann. "You're It, by the way!"

"Just great. Didn't even notice."

"You must be lots braver than these mercenaries. That, or it's just the Saxton Hale Mask. Now say goodbye to your head." He swung the axe, only for his target to disappear.

"Not gonna happen!" Chronicle appeared right behind him, and falling down to the final control point, which was being captured by the BLU Soldier. Unfortunately, the rest of EqU was dealing with the rest of BLU all over the Manor.

"Need help capping this point!" yelled the BLU Soldier.

"Banzai!" The unicorn landed on the man's, breaking his fall and reducing the damage his card would've 'received', and Tagged him with his signature spell before running.

"Maybe I can't jump, but I can drop now!" the Horsemann then said as he leaped down onto the third control point and decapitated the BLU standing there.

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

A while later, a respawned Rainbow was just finished offing her BLU counterpart from the entrance just outside the first control point when she felt a certain chill; she was the new It. And then the Horsemann came into view. Still frightened at the prospect of locked-up wings, she hightailed it out, the Horsemann following.

As she flew around the Manor into the other entrance, she tagged the BLU Demoman, who was promptly decapitated two seconds later.

She then saw Pinkie Pie headed her way.

"Pinkie! Fire won't do any good against the Horsemann!" Thenam called through the comms system. "He's immune to all 'debuffs'!"

Immediately, the EqU Pyro made a break for it alongside her friend as the Horsemann made a random swing…decapitating an invisible BLU Spy along the way.

They crossed the main entrance to the manor, where they were greeted by the BLU Sniper…who sent Pinkie away with a headshot.

Rainbow's response was to Tag him and continue deeper into the manor.

As she entered the manor's library, she saw Spike loading up his Loch-n-Load, and was currently It (he told her immediately upon seeing her). Fluttershy was overhealing him and building up an ÜberCharge. When the Horsemann came, the charge was activated and its two were coated in green and yellow respectively. Rainbow decided to fly up to the floor above and support her teammates from there. The monster swung his axe at the duo, which glanced off of the ÜberCharge shell, but the two were already fleeing to the final control point, knowing it will soon run out.

There, it was madness. The BLU Soldier and Medic were on the point, charged by the Kritzkrieg and sending anypony who so much as entered their sights straight to the limbo room while their teammates joined them. Not good. Thankfully, the sight of the Horsemann distracted (most of) their attention from the ÜberCharged duo and they opened fire on the monster.

Only one Demoman focused on the dragon and pegasus as they charged and attacked the Kritzkrieg Medic, but wasn't enough to stop them from killing him and the Soldier.

He did succeed in sending his EqU counterpart down the pit after that, though.

Unfortunately for BLU, time was running short because they had wasted time attacking the Horsemann, who had for some reason much tougher than normal.

And then the final blow was dealt. A barrage of bullets from Sasha. A back attack from the Force-a-Nature, and a sniper bullet.

Upon the impact of those attacks (among many), the Horsemann hunched up for a bit before dark energy spewed out from within him and he fell apart.

"Aw, nuts," his head complained as he lay there. Then, as per the "deal with the Administrator", he would gift the last three who killed him with a replica of his head to wear as a hat. Those three (as the Administrator reluctantly announced) were the BLU Heavy, EqU Scout, and the Sniper…of the EqU Team, Twilight Sparkle.

But the fight wasn't over yet. In spite of not wasting time solely attacking the Horsemann throughout the battle, BLU now had ten seconds left in the mission. Immediately, they scrambled onto the point, immediately attacking anypony in sight, only for a "crocket" to KO the ones closest to it, except the Scout who double jumped to dodge, only for a Revolver shot by Rarity to finish him off.

The Heavy managed to survive as well, only for a sniper bullet to pass through his head.

The BLU Pyro, knowing that it was hopeless to try and capture the point and fled. The BLU Spy did the same as the timer ran out.

"Victory!" whooped Tasic in relief. The ponies cheered as well, having secured their first win to end Eternal Halloween.

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

After the battle, the two teams left Mann Manor in their vehicles, EqU in their trailer, and BLU in their Engineer's old truck, Sniper's camper, Medic's catering van (which was stolen), and Spy's Chevrolet (a car). They weren't traveling together of course, and while they were within shooting distance of each other, neither party did so.

As they reached a fork, the BLU vehicles went one way, the EqU trailer another. A call from Miss Pauling had directed them to Ghost Fort, where the second pony team, Luna's U████████ Nocturnal Alliance, was headed. They had a battle with them at 2Fort once, and it was apparent that their strategies were different. Once the trailer was gone, the Spy and Engineer's vehicles went side-to-side.

"So, Spy, what was that you said about EqU that you discovered?"

"I discovered that the ponies are being aided by some humans." He produced some photos showing the three human members of EqU interacting with the ponies, and passed it (begrudgingly) to the Pyro, who was riding shotgun in the truck, who passed it to the Engineer. "That is probably how their Engineer was able to copy your inventions. The technology I've been able to see so far in that trailer of theirs equals that of the Australians."

"I always knew she wasn't at all tech savvy, but now this explains everythin'."

"Explains what?" asked the Demoman, who rode at the back of the truck with the Soldier (the Heavy rode with the Medic, and the Scout with the Sniper. Spy wasn't too keen on letting anybody ride with him).

"It explains just how our new foes were able to match and even best us while not bein' killers like we are. They had help."

The Pyro turned to face him teammate and mumbled something.

"What should we do?" asked the Engineer. "Well, we could tell the Administrator…"

The Scout poked his head out the camper van's window, which was right behind. "I say we don't. We don't owe that bitch nuthin'!"

"Except for covering up some of our…incidents, especially Pyro's." The firebug harrumphed in response.

"Alright. Well… I hate to admit it, but I kinda like the way things are now, 'cept for this Eternal Halloween. Fightin' REDs all the time can get pretty boring."

"Aye," agreed the Demoman. "And these beasts we hafta fight righ' now are only at Halloween. Dat's a long time t' wait!"

"Yeah," the Sniper agreed as well. "An' we never won any of our scheduled fights with Saxton Hale. Even with the nine of us and the maximum number of replicas (22) he allowed, not to mention all the advantages he gives us for a more fair fight. Fair, my ass."

"Well, prepare for some bad news," said the Spy. "From what I heard, together with this other pony team, EqU was able to actually beat Saxton."

"Whoa, really?!" gasped the Scout.

"Apparently, the…unicorns have their magic limited somewhat when they're fighting us. That limit was removed when they fought Saxton."

"Does the RED team know about this?" asked the Soldier with a scowl.

"If my counterpart there is as resourceful as I am, they probably know as well, but that's not our problem, now is it?"

"No."

"Good."

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

And for a change, I ended the story at the BLU Team's perspective. And part of my head-canon is that both Spies are are on good terms with each other. Up next is MONOCULUS! See ya on Third!
