//------------------------------// // Rising Falsetto // Story: Euphoric Synthesis // by Violise //------------------------------// Rising Falsetto Rainbow didn't make it a habit to carry passengers on flights. This made the current scene a little interesting to the waking citizens of Ponyville. To those who didn't know why this was occurring, the only conclusion that could be made is that Dash had found the most misshapen orange in all of Equestria, and was taking home, but Dash knew otherwise. She knew all to well that she had found a new rival; though, she couldn't really find any solid reasoning in this, other than the knot in her throat each time the mares mane . Dash had found purchase on her cloud home just as Celestia's sun had crested over the lower terraces of the home. She cautiously opened the door to home, so as not to awaken Tank. Tank had been quite tired as of late due to Rainbows' sporadic work hours, and even though he didn't have to stay up to greet her when she came home, he felt happy to see her tired smile as she entered the door. Rainbow crept slowly across the threshold to avoid waking the tortoise, but as soon as she had reach the stairs, she heard a quiet gurgling noise from behind her. She turned her head slowly to find a patient Tank smiling slowly at the mare. Dash returned the smile while mentally kicking herself. 'Stupid Dash; he can hear vibrations. Why didn't I just fly up to my room.' While Dash was reflecting, Tank took this time to study the mysterious pony-shaped lump on his owners back. He didn't have much experience with any other ponies besides Fluttershy and Rainbow, but he could feel the warmth resonating off of the mare. Rainbow had zoned out, but was brought back to reality when Tank slowly turned away to find his bed. Rainbow shook her head free of any more idle thoughts and quickly climbed the stairs to her room ~~~ Vinyl headed back to her home when Derpy had caught up to her along the road to Canterlot. "Vinyl, I have some mail for you." "How did you know it was for me," Vinyl asked, realizing that there was no address written on it. "Well, your papa gave it to me when I was giving him the mail." "Well then," Vinyl surmised, "we'll just open this here and..." Vinyl, By the time that you have gotten this message, the movers will have taken the last of your things out of my home. I need to send you this as an eviction notice, starting today. I now that you mean well, what with you music and all, but this has been rediculous. I had figured that you would have learned your lesson after the last noise complaint, but after having you not come home last night and breaking the rules all over again, I decided that enough was enough. You are not aloud to speak to me or come home until you learn how to fend for yourself. But please don't take this as a message that I no longer love you; it's just that you need some tough love is all. Just know that no matter what, you will always be my daughters and will always have a place in my heart. Dad (PS The box number is 6490, for when you get a place of your own.) "Wow, that's a real pain in the flank," Vinyl cursed loudly. Derpy curled her ears in fear that she was being reprimanded. "Oh no no, Derpy It's alright, I just wasn't expecting to be hurting and homeless in the same day." "That's to bad Vinyl. Is there anything I can do to help?" Vinyl was unaware of Derpy's gesture, due to her sudden bout of inspiration, or madness; if you wanted to get technical. "Derpy," Vinyl started, " can you send a letter to my father giving him my new address to my new home." "Uhm, sure Vinyl; but where is that," Derpy responded. "You know fluttershy's address, right? Well, she's about to get a new roommate." "Oh ok," Derpy took out a slip of paper and wrote the address. While Vinyl watched her leave towards Canterlot, she planned out the details while traveling back to Ponyville. ~~~ High above Ponyville, Dash was finally settling down after putting the new company that was perched on her back onto her Cumulubed to rest. Rainbow looked her over for what seemed like the fifteen-hundredth time; but still couldn't shake this unnerving knot in her throat. Something about this mare didn't sit right with her, and she damn well didn't like not know things about her. She studied the mares every facet, from her brilliant mane to her long illustrious wing that almost rivaled hers. Every time her eyes reached her flank, Rainbow's eyes would freeze the broad emptiness of the spot was not only abnormal, but brought out this strange feeling in Rainbow. Before she had time to collect her thoughts, Dash was inches from the mare's flank. Dash's breathing quickened at this, but she was compelled to pursue this. Finally after a few tense moments, Rainbow's mouth made contact with the blank surface. This feeling was strange, for sure; but thie emotion that she felt behind it was wonderful. It was as if in that one moment, everything made sense and she could finally let go of any anxiety. This moment didn't last however, because mere moments after gingerly kissing the soft orange mare out of what might be just pure curiosity, did she wake from her dreams and was now blushing furiously at the scene before her. "Uhm... hello?" Dash whispered nervously, as if her knotted throat had finally crushed her vocal chords. "H-hi Dash, h-h-how are you?" the mare whispered back. "I'm doing well...Uhm, how's,um, your fever?" Dash responded. "I think I'm feeling better...," the mare looked at Dash for a few moments, "Can I ask you a favor, Dash?" "Sure, shoot," Dash said. "Can you please let go of me?" The blush was now appearing on Dash's face in full force as she realized that her hooves were, in fact, clutched around the young mare's hips in a death grip. Dash's arms quickly flailed out of their respective places and fell to her sides. The next few moments were so thick with tension that Pinnkie could have used it for a batch of Fearcakes for Nightmare Night. The mare suddenly piped up, "My name is Sc--Lola, by the way." "Oh hi ,Lola," Dash responded quickly. Suddenly, as if by shear force of habit, she asked, "Wait, how did you know MY name?" "Oh, that's easy; You're my wife, silly," Lola responded without a second thought, as if she was explaining the weather. Dash didn't take this as lightly, though. "M-m-m-m-mmmmy WHAT!?!?!?!?," Dash screamed all at once. As if this took all air out of her, Dash smiled goofily; then proceeded to faint. Lola stared at the mass of feathers and confusion with a shocked look and a dash of regret at the admission. "Ponyfeathers," was all that could be heard from the hom efor the rest of the night. Far in the Whitetail woods, Vinyl looked up at the sky for the source of the sream, but after a few moments of scanning the sky, she dismissed it and proceeded on her way towrds Fluttershy's cottage; her final plans set in stone,as it were.
