Lightning Storm's story.

by Darkened Lightning Storm

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can totally hurt me.

Rainbow Dash dragged Lightning Storm out of the farm house and into the barn, her magenta eyes boiling with anger and betrayal.

"I can't believe you!" Rainbow Dash shouted tears wielding up in her eyes.

"Rainbow.. I didn't mean to! I swear!" Lightning Storm ears flattened against her head as she held out her hoof, in response getting it slapped away.

"Don't try your bucking excuses! I saw you kiss him!" tears started to stream down Rainbow's face as Lightning felt her anger start to build as well.

"I didn't kiss him! He kissed me!"

"Well you kissed him back!"

"I.. I... Well it would've never happened if maybe you had stopped hitting on the other mares!"

"Oh so now this is MY fault?! Lightning I wasn't hitting on other mares! You know I know better than that!"

"Oh really?! Than explain the nuzzle you gave to Fluttershy!"

"Please LS, she's like my sister! Do you honestly believe I would ever like her like that?!"

"It sure as hell seemed like you did!"

Lightning storm felt her anger overcome her sadness as Rainbow Flared her wings and glared.

"You know what, what ever happened to loyalty?" Rainbow snapped her words soaked in anger.

"I could say the same thing for you Dash. I thought you where the Element of Loyalty."

"And I thought you where my marefriend! But apparently not anymore!" Rainbow snarled and Lightning Storm went silent, now realizing what happened. Rainbow Dash took notice in what she said and blinked, her face showing her regretted saying she had said that as the cyan mare quickly folded her wings and looked at her hooves. Tears slid down Lightning's face as she gazed at Rainbow.

"So... Are we breaking up then...?" Lightning Storm felt the words just come out on there own, she was silently hoping Dash would apologize for yelling and hug her, forgetting everything. But, she knew that wasn't going to happen as Rainbow looked up to her tears dripping off her face.

"I... Don't know... Are we..?"

"I... Guess we are..."

Lightning Storm could see the pain in regret in Rainbow Dash's eyes as Dash just nodded and walked out of the barn trying to hide her tears. Lightning just stood there shock finally washing over her as she sat down on the hay covered barn floor.

"What... Have.. I just done?" Lightning whispered and she curled into a ball and started to sob to herself, not noticing the stallion behind her.

"LS... Are you... Ok?" Lowell asked as Lightning looked up and almost tackled Lowell to the ground in a giant hug as she sobbed into his shoulder.

"No I'm not ok you featherbrain! Me and RD just broke up!" She said through her sobs and Lowell sat there and stared down at Lightning then gasped.

"You...What?!" He said backing away form Lightning Storm's hug as LS sniffled as stared at her hooves.

"Everything is all my fault. I.. I can't even believe myself right now!" Lightning ran out of the barn and flew off to the forest, tears dropping off of her face as she flew. She quickly kicked open the door to her house and slammed it shut, sliding down it and hiding her head in her hindlegs as she sobbed.

~a week later~

Lightning Storm sat at the bar area alone, forcing down the contents in her mug. As she placed the empty mug on table, the bartender trotted over.

"Give me another one of whatever the hay you gave me before."

"Are you sure? That was your 7th mug and this is really hard apple cider..."

"I'll pay you extra."

Lightning shakily took out her bit pouch and threw thirty bits on the table. At first, the Bartender pony hesitated, but then he took out a bottle or hard apple cider and poured what was left in it into her mug. LS looked down at it and started to sip it slowly as the stallion put the bottle away and looked at her.

"So what's your story?" he asked curiously and Lightning looked up at him.

"What do you mean..?"

"Obviously something happened to you. You can't just randomly come here like everyday for weeks and pay me 50 bits so you can down a bottle of hard apple cider and not have something happen to you. Now mind me for being nosy, but I gatta know." The bartender stallion called out one of the other workers and threw him his apron, giving him a wink as he trotted out and sat down next to Lightning.

"I... I did something... Completely idiotic... I destroyed the trust the one pony I loved more than anything else in this stupid world... And I'd do anything... Just to apologize... Just to hold her.... Just to sit there and laugh with her till my sides hurt and I'm in tears... Just to wake up to her beautiful face and stare into her magenta eyes... Just to be with her one more time..." Lightning Storm looked down at her mug and sighed. She knew she was drunk again, why else would she be telling a stranger this?

"Yeah, you really bucked up everything, you idiot." A voice that sounded like Rainbow Dash's came from behind her. Lightning's ears shot up and she turned around to see Rainbow Dash standing there, looking like a complete mess. Her mane was crazy and everywhere, she had black bags under her tired, glistening eyes, she looked like she hadn't slept in days and had been crying all night.

"Dash..." Lightning had started up RD held up her hoof and gave her a glare.

"Here's your one chance to apologize.. Make it worth my bucking time." Rainbow Looked away from her and looked a seat at the bar. Lightning just stared at her and Rainbow raised an eyebrow down at her and gave her a look.

"You going to apologize.. Or sit there staring at me like a featherbrain."

"Oh right! S-sorry... Dash... Look... You are, always have been, and always will be, the best thing that has ever happened to me. I was such an idiot for kissing Big Mac... I took you for granted and I swear on my life, it was the dumbest move I ever made and ever will make. I'm... So sorry... And I don't even know why I'm bothering... After what I did I wouldn't even forgive myself...So, I understand if you don't take me back... I get it..." Lightning Storm looked down at her mug as tears formed and slid down her face as she felt a pair of hooves thrown around her and a head shoved into her shoulder as Rainbow sobbed. She didn't need anymore words, neither did Dash. They both there sniffling in each others embrace silently as the night ticked on.
