A small, deep blue filly alicorn with a blue mane shimmering like the beautiful night sky trotted happily through the hallway. Her elder sister was about to make the sun rise! She was the bestest big sister ever!

Luna giggled and opened the door, quickly galloping over to her sister’s huge bed and pouncing on her sister.

“Mfph, LuLu!” Celestia mumbled, “Why are you up so early!? I don’t wanna raise the sun yet...Five more minutes,” She complained.

Luna sighed and flopped dramatically to the other side.

“But I’m awake ‘Tia! So the sun should be awake!! I wanna play!” She cried.

“No, Luna...Please go back to bed.” Celestia said, but Luna wasn’t giving up.

“Do you wanna build a snow-mare?” She asked, raising her eyebrow.

It took her a little while, but Luna had finally gotten Celestia to agree. The two smiled as they raced each other out of the castle, and into the gardens which were covered in a bright, white snow.

Celestia had finally finished raising the sun. The two had been waiting for winter for a long time, and Luna smiled as she used her magic to build a snow fort.

“I’m the queen of the castle!” She cried, flinging her hoof up in the air.

Celestia giggled and she made a snow-mare, it was an alicorn, and it resembled herself a little. Except that the snow alicorn had a carrot for a nose, two buttons for eyes, and five little coals for its mouth.

“Look Lulu, a snowicorn. I’m Star Swirl, and I like warm hugs!” She called out from behind the snow-alicorn.

Luna giggled and rushed over to the snow-alicorn, she hugged the snow-mare with her tiny might and she smiled brightly.
“Ooh, I love you!” She cried.

Celestia’s powers were growing stronger by the day. Ponies from all over came to watch the young Princess raise the sun every morning, and she was reveling in the attention.

Luna however, was becoming darker, sadder, more angered with each passing day. The ponies all relished and played in her sister’s light, and shunned her beautiful night.

She had no idea how to get through to Celestia anymore, as the two were separated by society until one day...Celestia’s powers created the Elements of Harmony, zapping almost all of her strength.

Celestia had to be locked away for a while, and Luna had no idea why. She had not been there when her sister had made the Elements, so she had no idea why her once close sister was drifting away from her.

“‘Tia?! Do you wanna build a snow-mare? Come on lets go and play! I never see you anymore, come out the door. It’s like you’ve gone away. We used to be best buddies, and now we’re not. I wish you would tell me why….Do you wanna build a snow-mare?” Luna sang.

Luna smiled as she pushed her muzzle against the door’s lock, she was trying to see her sister.

It doesn’t have to be a snow-mare.” She sang, her voice muffled.

Celestia sighed weakly through the door.

“Go away, Luna.”

Okay bye….”

Luna sighed as she stood there at her sister’s door, she looked a little bit older and she had just gained her cutie-mark, she wanted to share the news with Celestia but she was busy.

So Luna had to celebrate by herself, but she only wanted to spend the day with her sister.

But Celestia, as always was too busy for Luna, who dejectedly sang out her song.. She knew her sister wouldn’t play with her anymore, but she had to at least try.

Do you wanna build a snow-mare? Or fly aimlessly in the halls? I think some ‘us’ time is overdue, I’ve started talking to myself, this cannot be good. ‘Hang in there self’. It gets a little lonely, all these empty rooms, just watching the hours tick by…..tick, tock, tick, tock...tick. tock.

The dark, lonely feeling inside Luna had been growing and growing. It didn’t help that the citizens of Equestria seemed to be afraid of her now, all of her little ponies always scattered whenever she spoke, moved or even smiled.

Luna had had enough, the ponies all loved her sister, but hated her. It was infuriating, and the darkness inside her heart grew to its peak.

The nightmare force came from the moon and it took over Luna’s dark, rage filled soul with ease. It turned her into a wicked mare of darkness, Nightmare Moon.

Celestia couldn’t ignore it anymore, her sister had changed. She had become evil, and it was up to her to dispel her.

But she didn’t want to, she hated to see her beloved sister like this but she knew in her heart it was what needed to be done.

With a heavy heart, Celestia summoned the Elements. They had been dormant for so long, it had been one hundred years since she’d last had to use them. Against Discord and now ironically she had to use them on her own flesh and blood. Her sister.

“Luna! You must lower the moon! It is your duty!” Celestia cried to the being that seemed to be her sister.

Nightmare Moon just grinned devilishly at Celestia. She had no intentions of lowering her beautiful moon, she just laughed in her sister’s face.

“Do not take another step, dear sister. Did you really think I would just sit by and idly watch while they all bathe in your precious light!?” Nightmare Moon snarled.

Celestia’s skin crawled at the new, distorted sound of her sister’s once sweet, charming voice. The nightmare forces had turned it gravely and Celestia sighed.

“I do not wish to do this to you, dear sister! But I am afraid I must.” Celestia called.

Nightmare Moon’s eyes widened as she saw Celestia’s horn glow, and a secret chamber appear from the floor.

Inside the chamber was a giant stone statue which had six indentations. The indents held six sparkling gemstones. The Elements of Harmony.

Nightmare Moon laughed as her sister summoned them. Nightmare Moon took off into the night sky, and Celestia frowned as she followed.

“Luna! Please, I do not wish to fight you!” Celestia cried.

Luna had begun to fire at her with her magic, Celestia expertly dodged each one. Nightmare Moon growled as her sister swapped in and cut her off, they glared at each other.

“Luna….I am so sorry. It seems I have no other choice.” Celestia sniffed quietly as the Elements started to swirl around her body.

Nightmare Moon started to shoot another beam at her sister. But Celestia’s power was so strong, the Elements swiftly overtook Nightmare Moon’s power.

Nightmare Moon screamed with rage as the magic hurled her towards the moon, the stars in the sky all flashed and a distraught Celestia cried as she flew back towards the castle.

“Luna...I am so sorry, my sister. I hope you can forgive me.’’ Celestia said to the moon.

Tears fell from her face as she sang to her banished sister. She hoped that Luna could hear her, but she knew that was probably impossible.

Luna. I know you’re in there, but ponies are asking where you've been. They say have courage and I’m trying to. I’m right down here for you, just let me in….I am all alone now, all by myself. What am I going to do? Do you want to build a snow-mare?
