//------------------------------// // Like Silk Pajamas On A Sunday Morning // Story: Thirty Minute Sparity Prompts: from SparityLoveisForever // by SparityLoveisForever //------------------------------// It was a normal Saturday in Ponyville, but inside Carousel Boutique there was a unicorn mare who had found she had nothing planned for the very first time in a very long time. She stood in front of her bedroom mirror looking over her visage seeing the curly dark purple mane that hung over her face gently like a waterfall. Her tail matched her mane perfectly and her snow-white coat was perfectly offset by the mane and tail. Her cutie mark was a trio of blue gems, she had a talent for finding sometimes the best natural gemstones around with her magic. Turning from the mirror she spoke aloud to her feline companion Opalescence, “Oh I don't know, Opal I really think I should get started designing my new Gala dress.” The feline just looked over at her with a look that said, “R-really?” Moving around the room to the drawing board the feline flicked several of the top designs off each one landing at Rarity's feet. “Oh, but all of those are just flights of fancy, dear.”Rarity said this with as much conviction as she could, but it was a truly weak premise. Opalescence looked up at her owner shaking her head knocking down some of the images of Rarity with several different stallions none of which worked out. To the feline these were “flights of fancy.” “Well, I can't expect every stallion to be a prince charming, can I darling?” Rarity said this with her eyes half lidded looking over at her cat who was very temperamental but still one of her best friends. Opal only seamed to move around the room to a very special jewelry box which she dusted off with her tail, and patted gently as she looked back at her owner with that look of superiority, knowing, and almost saying, “What about this one?” “What!? Spikey Wikey, he's a dear friend of course. Kind and gentle always willing to help out no matter what I ask of him. Quite kind that he even comes to see me after I've kicked those other brutes out the door.” She thought of Spike her eyes glazing over a bit like she was caught up thinking about him. She quickly came back to reality saying, “But, it's a terribly large necklace and it would really take a perfect gown to match it.” Opal seemed to have the answer for this as well. The first of the designs she had knocked down to the floor she took into her teeth and passed it up to her owner. It was a simple heart chest and slow sweeping dress that was almost see through. The pony it was designed on was her own form and the curly mane and tail accented the curves of the outfit perfectly it seemed the only thing it was missing was a necklace to tie the whole outfit together. “But, I just can't can I. It would be like saying I loved him for really real...”Rarity seemed to drift off again thinking about how much Spike had grown since they had met. How being around him was one of her favorite things, much like silk pajamas on a Sunday morning. Opal wouldn't let her be in dreamland for long swatting her tail at Rarity's flank looking back up at her with a look of contempt. Her gentle mewl coming out like a simple, “Why not?” Rarity couldn't help her self. She had been waiting for so long for somepony, and maybe now the time was right. She hadn't worn it in years because it couldn't go with just any design, but this one seemed to be just the one she was looking for. Much like the drake who had given it to her. He had never once asked for anything in return. They would always go gem hunting together, he could assist her like no pony she had ever hired to help her through a rush even other unicorns, he was always trying to be his best around her. She knew he wasn't a perfect gentleman, but for her he had always tried. Each and every time they had been together he did better, she didn't want to lead him on any longer. So she wouldn't. She stepped out of Carousel Boutique and headed over to Golden Oaks Library. Twilight had been so busy finishing the renovations of the old castle, he would likely be there alone. As she came tot he door she knocked three times, before calling out, “Oh, Twi-light? I need to speak to Spikey is he in? There was the sound of books rustling and a loud crash from the inside of the library. Spike had been in his own room fixing some of his personal belongings when Rarity had come knocking. When he came down moments later he opened the door. The mare of his dreams stepped right into the library pressing up against him to move past his larger form. She turned back around to face him and said, “Hello, Spike, I wanted to ask if you'd care to be my escort for the Gala this year?” Spike looked back at Rarity and then back to then to front door. Trying to gain control of his thought process he looked back over at her. Only just managing to get out, “Yes...” “Well I'll have to work on your tux a bit more then to match my ensemble. I really want it to be the best night ever, Spike. Do you think you can do that for me?” Rarity looked back up at him fluttering her fake eyelashes like she had done at so many stallions before, but she really only wanted him now. “Stay with me all night, and I'll do my best, my lady.” Spike said with all the courage he could muster.
