In the far reaches of space there was an Academy. This academy trained warriors, monks, thieves, and mages. For years the academy sent its recruits to planets in need of help. It is here that two mages had just finished their training and were ready to get sent on their first mission. They were twin brothers, Alex and Zander. Alex chose to take the path of the White Mage. He preferred not to fight but support and strategize for his team. While Zander went down the route of the Black Mage opposite of his brother. He liked to get in there and deal as much damage as possible to his enemies. They both stood at 6 feet tall and had blond hair and brown eyes. Alex liked to wear his standard White Mage robe cover all his body. Zander preferred to wear simple black cape, a blue t-shirt and black jeans. Today they were getting their first mission. On the way to the mission room they saw a man in a red robe being dragged to the holding cells. "What happened to him?"Zander asked.
Alex looked at Zander and said "How did you ever pass mage training? That was a red mage. They tend to go mad cause they constantly need to balance their light energy and dark energy at all times, or else you lose the magic of the side you don't have enough of. Stay like that too long and you'll go mad, remember."
They reached the mission room with the Academy's headmaster. The Headmaster saw them and said "Okay, this is your mission, you are hired as guards of a town on a nearby planet. They say that a lot of the problems come from a forest called the Everfree Forest." Zander tried to hold his laughter in but failed.
"I'm sorry, but that's the least threatening name anyone can think of." Zander said between laughs. The Headmaster glared at him.
"As I was saying, We got a message from a Princess." Zander ears perked up at the sound of Princess. "Twilight Sparkle." The headmaster finished before Zander started laughing out of control again, while Alex just hung his head in shame that he was related to him. "Zander, shut up, or you'll go back to training until you can control yourself. Zander immediately became quiet and listened. "Now your mission is to simply go to the princess and she will station you somewhere in town. She will explain everything in more detail than I can. Now go the the docking platform, you'll be on your way soon, and here is your item voucher for your mission, that'll be good for 5 ethers and 5 elixirs each. Now go get your equipment and be at the platform at 0900 hours." He said and dismissed the brothers from the mission room with a simple hand gesture.
The two did as they were told, packed what they needed, then sheathed their swords in their scabbards, got their items and went to the docks. When they got there they entered the small ship that was set to auto-pilot to head to their assigned planet. The ship shot off and in a few hours they would land on the planet.
"So what do you think the planet will be like?" Zander asked his brother.
"Don't really care honestly. I just want to help others, that's why I chose a support job rather than a direct job like you. You always did like the spotlight." Alex responded to him
"How can you not want to see new places, meet new people? That's what I signed up for."
"I just care about the job, don't get attached to them. We shouldn't be there long anyway. We land, investigate the forest, report, and leave, it's that simple. My motto is 'it's just a job nothing more'. I'll save others if I need to, not interfere with their lives."
"Remind me how we are related if we think so differently." Zander joked.
The auto-pilot then spoke clear and calm. "We will arrive in approximately 10 minutes."
Alex looked over to Zander and said "Well, are you ready for this?" Zander just nodded his head in response before passing out due to the pressure of landing.
Alex woke up first and got out to check the surroundings. He looked and saw to his surprise several equine type creatures and many colors and many types of brands on them. "Hey Zander wake up and come see this."
He yawned as he climbed out "Why what the..." Zander just stood in shock
Alex was angry. "I can't believe this I think we got hit with a prank mission this is so-"
"Awesome" Zander said, surprising his brother.
"What are talking about?" Alex asked hoping he wouldn't regret asking.
"They just gave us a vacation to a nature planet, duh."
"No, they didn't. This was meant to be a mission."
"Like I said. Vacation, they just don't know it yet." Alex went to hit his head on the side of the ship because of how his brother is acting. "Not even 2 mintues and he is already goofing off." He muttered. Then Alex heard a voice near him.
"Hello, are you two Alex and Zander?" Alex turned to see a lavender equine with a horn and wings. She was smiling kindly.
"Anyone there?" Alex asked looking around.
"I'm right next to you." Alex look at the purple equine.
"Where at? I don't see anyone else."
"Don't you mean anypony else?" Alex's eyes went wide and stared at the Equine. He gulped and asked it, "Are you talking to me?"
"Yes..." The equine said as it nodded its head. It looked confused.
Alex thought "This is gonna be a long annoying mission is it?" to himself.
