//------------------------------// // The Plot Before Christmas // Story: The Plot Before Christmas // by Darkness Shade //------------------------------// "Equestria: a town of many things. Of peace and hope, of cheerful singing...but under that happy face that most everypony wears there lurks things in the shadows that seek to disrupt that." The figure in the chair paused for a moment before spinning to look out the window at the snow and giving a shrug, "...okay, so maybe it usually is all sunshine and pony tails here seeing as most of the cases I get are simple missing items or mysterious goings-on that turns out to simply be some magical mischief or a complete misunderstanding. Nothing too serious happens—no missing person cases or murders or anything like what might've gone on back on Earth—still there's a reason as to why I started this detective agency." Staring at the placard on his desk, he idly toyed with it before running over the raised lettering that spelled out his name in big bold letters: Darkness Shade. Glancing at the clock at what was turning out to be another slow day in this crazy world he now called home, he had to wonder just where that partner of his was. She usually never ran this late and though he knew she most likely was okay, he couldn't help but worry just slightly. Just as he wondered if he should close up to go looking for her he heard a thud as something crashed just outside the office and then a distinctly feminine voice swearing in pain. Laughing at the fact there was only one pony that could be, he gave her a grin as she walked in with a light dusting of snow covering her yellow fur, "Ah, there's my partner. Nice of you to finally show up, Thunder Fire." Thunder Fire glared at him before rolling her eyes, shaking the residual snow free, and tossing off her scarf, "You know the snow makes me more nervous when I try to fly. I still can't believe you talked me into trying to fly on a regular basis." "Heh, well what can I say? I certainly do bring the best out in people...well, ponies but you get the point." Dark watched as she simply shook her head before sauntering passed him wagging her rear back and forth in an exaggerated manner to tease him back. He gave a laugh before walking over to her and smirking, "Trying to tempt me again are we?" "Who? Me?" Thunder Fire looked back at him before giving one more shake of her rump, "Never. That aside, another slow day I take it?" Dark gave a nod before taking a seat, "Pretty much. I do have to say this for Equestria, it certainly doesn't have many things that require a detective. Not that it's boring, but we aren't exactly the first to be called for dragon attacks, chaotic deity resurrections, or the occasional theft of love. The reminds me, we need to ship that gift off to Chrissy as soon as possible. I want to make sure she gets it before Christmas Eve after all." "Hearth's Warming Eve..." "Huh?" "You're doing that thing again, where you keep using your vernacular." Dark gave a laugh before sticking his tongue out at Thunder Fire, "Look at T-Fire showing them smarts off with the big word." Thunder Fire simply blushed before looking away, "I can be smart too. Not as much as Twilight Sparkle is but...I can have my moments that aren't just silly or plot intensive." "And what's wrong with being plot intensive?" Dark slowly got up and walked over to her before kneeling down, "Isn't that why we are called what we are?" "W-well, yeah. That is why we settled on calling ourselves the Bottom of the Plot detective agency." Thunder Fire blushed again at his closeness, "...Dark." "Haha, sorry T-Fire. You know I love being silly with ya." Dark slowly stood up, though not before gently running a hand through her feathers, "I'll lay off...for now." "Eep...not fair Dark. How would you like it if I ran my hoof through your wings?" Dark glanced at his wings and then back to her before grinning widely, "Why that would be delightful. Are you offering?" Thunder Fire face-hoofed before shaking her head, "...I should've guessed that would backfire on me." "Heh, it's not your fault hon. I just do that to the ladies, it is my gift and my curse." Dark took a bow before looking out the window again, "It still puzzles me how similar our worlds can be though. Especially around this time of year with how our holidays are nearly the same in many aspects, but unique in others. It's almost hard to believe it's going to be two years since we ended up here." "Oh yes...that fateful day when the two of you decided to come falling out of the sky and collide with me." Thunder Fire sighed before rubbing her wings, "I still have flashbacks of pain when we went tumbling into that lake. Speaking of, how is your brother doing? I haven't really seen him lately." "Ryan? He's adjusting pretty well. Took him long enough though." Dark pulled open the blinds to get an unobstructed view of the streets and smiled at the passerby who waved at him, "That first year was pretty rough as he tried to find his niche in this new world....no thanks to that slightly rough welcome we got." "I remember that pretty well. Twilight was the first there before the Princesses showed up. They didn't know what to make of you...of course, neither did I. You were both so unlike anything we ever saw." Thunder Fire gave a short nod before blushing at a thought, "...though that tail of yours kept drawing my attention as I recall." "Oh? And here I thought it was simply my attractive bottom that kept pulling you in." "Well yeah, there's that but...wait a minute!" Dark laughed loudly at her cheeks now matching the shades of red in her mane as she tried desperately to correct herself. When she eventually calmed down he continued, "Anyway he seems happy now. He does miss home still...as do I but what can you do? Tia and Woona pretty much told us there's no way to go back so we're here to stay. I don't mind too much...other than those first few months, most people here don't pay me any mind. That could care less about the fact I've got wings sticking out my back or a tail hanging out of my fine behind. As for Ryan, well, you've seen that house he's had built on some of that excess land right?" "Over by Sweet Apple Acres?" "Yeah, that's the one. You know why it's bigger than you'd think he'd need, right?" Thunder Fire nodded before blushing, "I had heard the rumors involving him and some certain mares, yes." "Haha, who would've thought he'd be so popular here with the ladies? I know he didn't, that's for sure. Funny how quickly fortunes like that can change, though. I'm happy for him. I know it couldn't have been easy sticking by me all those years, what with me being a half-demon and all, but it's nice to see that loyalty does have rewards eventually." Dark's warm smile practically lit up the room, "We should go visit if we get the chance, I'm sure he'd love having us over." "Well, if we don't get any clients today let's do that." Thunder Fire smirked, "I still need to thank him for that wonderful thing he did to me after all." "Oh, you mean the wreath to make your plot more festive?" Dark walked over and pulled said wreath off the door, "And thank him you should." Moving faster than she could, he placed the wreath on her behind and smirked as she glanced back and forth before trying to shake it off. Unfortunately, due to her lack of flying she wasn't as fit as she could be and it fit quite snugly which meant it wasn't going anywhere unless Dark helped her. "Now then T-Fire, perhaps we should—" And that's when the door opened and in walked a fine mare that Dark knew straight away: with her curled mane and very stylish winter attire, there was only one pony this could be. "Oh my, I'm so sorry. If I had known you two were busy I would've come by later." Dark snickered at the teasing while Thunder Fire simply blushed in embarrassment, "Oh Miss Rarity, you do slay me so with your wit." Walking with her to his desk, he got situated in his chair after helping her sit, "Now then, to what do we of the Bottom of the Plot detective agency owe this visit from you m'lady?" "Well, as you know, myself and my friends have been asked to do the annual Hearth's Warming Eve pageant again and of course I was flattered when they asked that I make the outfits." "Ah yes, I do believe my brother mentioned this when I saw him several weeks ago." Rarity shyly grinned at mention of Ryan, "Oh yes, he would brag about us. Suffice to say we've been keeping him quite busy." "Oh I imagine so." Thunder Fire snickered at that, "I guess that means he and you do share some traits then." "Well we do both share those rugged good looks but that aside, what does the pageant have to do with this?" "Well, I don't know why, but the most awful, terrible, dreadful thing has happened!" Dark leaned forward in his chair, "One of you was kidnapped?" Thunder Fire was now fully focused as she ran over and got far closer to Rarity than need be, "There's been a threat against the castle and you need extra bodyguards?" "...actually dearies, some scoundrel has absconded with all of my hard work! All that sewing, all that stitching! Why would somepony steal all those beautiful outfits?!" "...really? Outfits?" Rarity looked at the two of them before nodding, "Why yes! Do you know how long I've been working on those? And there's no way I could make a new set before the pageant in three days! They were so intricate and gorgeous. I can't just rush perfection like that." "So you want us to track them down and find the culprit then?" Dark leaned back in his chair before nodding, "I suppose theft is something different and, dare I say, normal compared to most all that goes on here. Where were they last seen?" "So you'll help?" Rarity beamed, "Thank you so much darling! They were at the castle awaiting our arrival when I was sent news from the Princesses that they'd gone missing. The guards searched everywhere and couldn't find any trace so hopefully you can, as you are so aptly named, get to the bottom of this plot." "Darkness Shade and Thunder Fire never disappoint a client, especially not family." Dark stood up and took her hoof, "We will find your outfits m'lady, count on it." Rarity's cheeks lightly blushed as he kissed her hoof, "A charmer as always Dark, I leave the case in your hands." With that she bid the two of them farewell before heading towards the door. Looking at Thunder Fire, he tossed her a pair of shades that she quickly put on before the two of them grinned and spoke in unison, "We sure hate seeing her leave, but damn do we love watching her go." With that done the two were quick to ready themselves before catching the first train to Canterlot. Though Dark was a quick study of magic and an apt flier at that thanks to his own demonic traits, he still preferred the more relaxing and old fashioned ways of travel. Though he'd say it was for the more rustic atmosphere, he actually did so for two reasons: the first being that his partner was still a bit uneasy with flying, and the second that he always liked keeping any ace in the hole he could. So if that meant enjoying a nice train ride with his partner that also happend to be a funny and easy on the eyes mare, well, that was a sacrifice he was willing to make for the greater good. "Hell yeah I'll make that sacrifice." Thunder Fire looked at her partner oddly, "Who are you talking to?" "My fans, that's all." "...right. Anyway, I figured that we should probably start at the castle first seeing as that's where the outfits were stored. There has to have been someone that saw something that could give us a pair of clues." Dark didn't reply but simply looked with a raised eyebrow at Thunder Fire. Noting this she sighed before rolling her eyes, "What? I can be all deductive and serious if I need to. It's not all just silliness and plot you know." "Even if that's the fun part?" "...yes." "Haha, fair enough. That sounds like a plan. I figure we start with the guards and then those involved with the play. After that we should give the ground a once over and search for clues." Dark pulled out his magnifying glass and smirked, "Once again I get to play Holmes....though I dare say my Watson is much hotter." "...even though I still don't quite understand that reference you make, some part of me thinks I should take that as a compliment." Thunder Fire shrugged before seeing the station coming into view, "We're just about there so try to be a little serious. Like you said, I know it's not our normal style but this is a paying case after all." "True, true...on my honor as Darkness Shade I will give this case the attention to detail it needs." That being said, however, Dark certainly didn't waste time placing the magnifying glass on Thunder Fire so that he could begin—as he put it—"looking for clues". After discovering the correct track to the plot, Dark and Thunder Fire entered the castle grounds before being led back towards the stage and rehearsal area where the outfits had been kept. "Thanks Swift Cut, we'll let you know if we need anything else while giving this place the once over." "Just try not to make a mess." With that Swift Cut left, leaving Dark and Thunder fire to scout for clues and any sign of who might have taken the outfits...or at the very least, where they might have been taken to. Using his magnifying glass for something other than checking out the rears of mares, Dark looked over the closets where the costumes had been hanging and didn't see much out of the usual. While he was busy with that, Thunder Fire began checking backstage to see if anything seemed unusual or out of the ordinary. While she was coming up slightly dry save for finding what appeared to be a wire of some kind, Dark felt as if he was on to something. Examining the hangars showed what appeared to be hair of some kind. Reaching into his pocket, he produced a pair of tweezers before extracting it. "Not much back here but some wire, did you find anything useful?" "I think so T-Fire, check this out." Dark showed off the hair, "It would seem that perhaps our culprit left traces they didn't think about." Thunder Fire gave him a look before shaking her head, "There's a lot of ponies that were around here, how can you be sure it isn't from one of them?" "Ah, that is a good point. However, my dear Fire, I have thought of that. You see, the ponies that would be back here are all ones we're quite familiar with. As such, we know the color of hair they all have, either in their mane/tail or their coats. And this one is not one that should be here." Dark took the hair and looked at it intently...before he sniffed it and then licked it. "What the hay are you doing?!" Thunder made a blech noise, "...sometimes you're weird." "I take that as a compliment. I'm half-demon, remember? I'm merely getting all the facts about the clue. Now then, this tastes like mint...odd. Although that would explain why it's such a color." Thunder Fire gave shrug, "Mint-colored hair? I can't think of all that many ponies I know that would have that shade. Well..." "There's one, right? That same one that freaked out for a different reason when Ryan and I showed up way back when." Dark tapped his foot and frowned, "But even if this is hers, why would she be here? And why would she want to steal the outfits?" "I'm not sure, but perhaps there's still something we're missing." Thunder Fire shook a bit, the wire she had picked up somehow having gotten stuck in her mane, "Ugh, darn thing!" "You're such a messy pony sometimes. Hold on." Dark chuckled as he pulled the wire free, "What were you doing with this thing anyway?" "Oh, well I found that backstage. It didn't seem to match any of the wires that were there so I thought it might be a clue." "Hmmm." Dark examined it for a moment before pocketing it, "It just might be...and yet I don't think things are as they seem. Perhaps we should—" And that was when Dark was interrupted as in walked none other than Princess Luna who, upon seeing him, grinned quite widely, "Why I didn't know you were here Darkness." "Ah, lady Woona. A pleasure to see you as always. Come to check up on our detective work?" Luna paused for a moment before nodding, "Yes, though I was not aware you were who was brought in. How are you and those lovely wings of yours doing?" Thunder Fire looked between Dark and Luna sensing some tense vibes in the air...and for some reasons she had to think on, she was kind of upset with how Luna was trying to flirt with him. "Well T-Fire and I are combing for clues; haven't found much but we're hoping to gather a few theories soon." As much as Dark wanted to tease Luna back, especially since he had been expecting her to show, he could tell it was making Thunder Fire somewhat uneasy. Thus, he tried to stay professional as best he could, "Hopefully we can find the outfits and get them back before the play." "Ah yes, there's only three days." Luna laughed quietly before winking at Dark, "Of course, the great Darkness Shade should have no problem finding them in such a time frame, yes?" "Well, I'm not one to toot my own horn—" "Oh I'll toot it for you..." Dark eyed Luna oddly, "What did you say?" "Oh nothing...so, how long will you be here in Canterlot?" "Just long enough to gather some clues for I have a feeling the culprit is already fled and is no longer in Canterlot." "Oh, I see." Luna tried to not let it affect her too much at hearing that, "Well, perhaps you two could join me for some dinner?" "Well, I don't know, we're pressed for time as it is trying to track these things down. Right T-Fire?" "Huh? What?" Thunder Fire had zoned out a bit, lost in her thoughts, "Oh! Right! Yeah! Three days isn't as long as we think! We have to find those outfits for the lady Rarity!" "Really? I cannot tempt you Darkness...even with the finest steak from the private reserve we keep for the Griffon Ambassadors?" Thunder Fire knew Luna had been trying to make a move on him this whole time, but to pull out something like that? To attack him at his necessary weakness for meat? That was just really low...which is why Dark's words surprised her. "Ooooh....while that is very tempting Woona, I'm afraid I'll have to take a rain check on that. We really do need to sort this mess out as soon as possible. We can't let Hearth's Warming Eve be ruined for all our friends after all." Luna was a bit stunned that he had turned down such an offer...but of course that only made her want him more, "Very well then, I will leave you to efforts. I trust you will succeed, of that I have no doubt." With that Luna turned to leave, making sure she had Dark's attention as she slowly sauntered out the room. When she finally left he let out a relieved sigh before falling back on to his rear, "Good heavens trying to not succumb to all that temptation was an ordeal. That Woona...she really wants me something fierce." "That's an understatement." Thunder Fire sat as well before poking her hooves together, "Uhm, not that you have to tell me, but...you obviously seem to like her." "Well, yeah...I can feel for her, since we were both outcasts for one reason or another before finding our places in the world." Dark eyed her curiously, "Why do you ask T-Fire?" "Oh! Well, I just....why don't you ever accept her invitations then? She clearly wants you pretty badly..." Thunder Fire blushed a bit, "She doesn't even really try to hide it anymore at this point." "Hahaha, that is true. She's quite bold...but she comes on too strong." Dark smiled before winking at T-Fire, "I like a mare that's just a little more reserved when it comes to somepony she likes...and has a unique sense of humor much like myself." "Unique sense of humor, huh?" Thunder Fire mumbled to herself, "Hmmm..." "Why T-Fire, are you blushing?" "What? M-me? Blush? Nonononono." Thunder Fire shook her head furiously, "Nope! Just...thinking hard on clues. Yeah...like that suspicious looking bottle!" Dark laughed at first thinking she was just trying to distract him but sure enough there was a bottle that seemed to be placed as conspicuously as possible. Walking over to it he picked it up and noted it wasn't quite empty, with just a small amount left in it. "Hmmm...that fragrance." Dark sniffed slightly before shrugging and giving it a taste, "Hoo-boy! Ugh, that's strong....that taste though. There's only one pony Ah can think of that would have such a particularly potent beverage." "...you know, I'd normally question somepony that randomly tastes all the evidence, but clearly I have a lot to learn about half-demons still." Thunder Fire sighed before giving a shrug, "Should we continue looking or do you think we've done enough?" "Well, I don't think looking will get us any further but we should talk to somepony before we leave. Specifically the guard that was on duty at the time." Dark motioned for her to follow as he headed out the door, "Swift Cut should be able to tell us who that is so let's go track him down and find out what we need." With that the two detectives continued their tracking of this mysterious theft which, after a brief discussion with Swift Cut, led them to a rather nervous looking pony that was currently at watch in the garden. Walking up to him and tapping him on the shoulder, Dark was a bit puzzled when he jumped before falling forward over himself, "Uhm...would you happen to be Jumping Jack?" "Uhm...yes? I mean, who wants to know? Name yourself!" "I, my good sir, am Darkness Shade. Perhaps you've heard of me? The only half-demon in Equestria?" Dark turned before lifting Thunder Fire over his head, "And this is my ever-lovely and wonderfully helpful partner in crime solving, Thunder Fire." "Oh yes...Swift Cut mentioned something about some weirdo winged guy here to solve this mystery." Jack nodded his head, sending his armor bouncing all about, "What can I...can I do for you?" "We understand that you were the one on watch the night the outfits were stolen. Can you think of any details to share with us that might help?" Thunder Fire steadied herself and got into what Dark affectionately called "Serious Business T-Fire" mode, "Anything—no matter how trivial you might think it to be—may help." "Well, basically I was standing watch as always and it was quiet. I remember turning to check one way before seeing what appeared to be a blur of motion heading backstage." "A blur you say?" Dark pulled out a notepad and jotted that down, "Anything else?" "I think it was a mare, the build was smaller and sleeker so I doubt it was a stallion of any kind. Let's see...there was a clatter, something fell over, and I heard something snap." Jack tapped his hoof as he thought, "Like...I suppose the only things I could say it sounded like was the same sound you'd hear when a string or wire or something like that would break." "I see, I see." Thunder watched as Dark continued writing, "Any other facts?" "After that noise, I ran to see what happend but whoever it was that was there was gone. And that's when I noticed the outfits made by Lady Rarity were missing! I was so worried I'd get in trouble that it happened on my watch." Jack sighed, "That's probably why they have me guarding the garden. Not much of value out here." Dark frowned as he put his notepad away before patting Jack on the shoulder, "Cheer up bud! You'll get yer chance to shine soon enough. You've done plenty to help us already, so thanks." "...heh, I suppose there is a reason Swift Cut thinks highly of you despite calling you such weird names." Jack laughed softly before his eyes widened, "Oh yeah! I forgot something! I'm not sure if it's all that important, but there was a strange substance on the floor when we first started searching. We cleaned it up so nopony would step in it but...it had a fruity/minty but medicinal smell and a sort of paste consistency to it." "I see." Thunder added some notes to her own book, "...this mystery is just deepening now. I'm so puzzled." Dark laughed as he ruffled her mane, "Relax there partner, Darkness Shade is on the case. I think I've got a few suspects in line and I'll fill you in on the way back to Ponyville." With that the two, uhm, "detectives" made their way out of the castle and back to the train station, unaware that somepony was quietly watching them from the shadows. "...why am I not surprised that we're getting a visit from you of all people?" Dark gave a sigh as he glanced out the window to see the train all topsy-turvy. Getting a bit sick from this he unbuckled his seat before flipping around and standing on the ceiling. Thunder Fire attempted to do the same but ended up falling on her head before cursing slightly at that fact. Making sure she was okay first, Dark then turned his attention back to the trouble-maker that had caused this whole situation. A trouble maker who, at the moment, was being slightly annoying by flipping his tail in front of his face. Twitching in anger Dark growled before yanking it and it's occupant out of the air, "Cordy, what the hell is wrong with you? Do you know how dangerous this little stunt of yours is? I might be more of a fan of your random nonsense than some of the others but even I know when it is and isn't the time for stuff like this." "My my, so touchy today Darky." Discord grumbled as he dusted himself off, "Can't a friend simply drop up to see you?" Dark rolled his eyes, "I'm surprised they let you out of the castle. I thought you were to be contained there until everypony was sure you weren't just tricking us?" "Oh! Right through the heart with such sayings." Discord clutched his chest as he pulled an arrow out of it, "I assure you I am a changed draconequus! Your brother and his little harem saw fit to that, remember? Although I must admit your own chaotic sense of humor did give me a shining example to follow in terms of being delightfully absurd without harming anypony." "...I'm not sure if he was trying to flatter you or not." Thunder Fire huffed, "So what exactly can we do for the self-appointed god of chaos?" "My, my, who is this charming mare of yours? I do not believe we've been acquainted." "Hey! What are you doing?" Thunder Fire gasped as Discord took her hoof and kissed it, "..." "Oh my, such a lovely red. I'm disappointed though." Discord smirked in Dark's direction, "I would've thought that he of all people would've made you more than accustomed to such gentlemanly displays." "Hey! Just because she's my partner does not mean that I take every opportunity to get fresh with her." Dark scoffed, "I only take every other opportunity so she still feels surprise when I do it. Heh, I have some self-control after all." "Yeah, that's totally right!" Thunder Fire agreed, though perhaps too eagerly. "Oh ho, I see then." Discord snickered, "Now then...as to the reason Ah've come to visit. I heard all about your little investigation! Oh but first!" Dark looked about before suddenly everything was a tea party, "...those quick shifts of yers always throw my sense for a loop. Still...that tea does smell delicious." "It's from Tia's special blend." Discord poured the two of them a glass before relaxing, "I wouldn't mention we had it though, or she'd send you to the moon...or beat you with bananas." "Ah yes, her bananas..." "...should I even ask?" Thunder Fire gulped nervously before sipping the tea, "Wow! It's like kissing the sun!" "Hahaha. Indeed it is. Now then, it would seem you are on the trail of your thief...but I should caution that your thief might be closer than you think." "And what does that mean Cordy?" "You have the clues...why spoil it? Although, since I'm just such a generous and helpful fellow now, I will tell you that heading back to Ponyville is the best choice so bravo on that!" Dark and Thunder Fire rolled their eyes before he spoke up, "Thanks Cordy...is that the only hint we get?" "Well, I suppose I should tell you that things might not be all together as they appear." Discord ate his glass and the tea pot before slowly falling into separate pieces, "As you well know, I am quite the expert at not being all together there." Thunder Fire seemed creeped out as Discord's separate parts floated before slowly vanishing as his laughter echoed through the train. "Oh, and mind the gap!" "What gap? What gap is he talking about, Dark?" Dark was a bit puzzled by his word until it finally dawned on him, "Oh crap!" With that the train flipped back right-side up and was rolling down the track again...with Dark and T-Fire crumpled in a pile, groaning in pain. "DAMN IT CORDY!" Dark growled, "...oh mah aching plot." "After that little interlude, the two of us were soon back home in Ponyville where we had to pick up the case. The clues were puzzling indeed, showing signs that perhaps there was more than one culprit...or that our thief was very smart and had planted false evidence. Either way, Thunder Fire and I were going to find out just what kind of sinister pony would attempt to ruin Christmas!" "...it's Hearth's Warming Eve....and what are you doing?" Thunder Fire stared at Dark, "And how did you talk without moving your lips?" "...I was monologuing my thoughts. It's what all great detective stories have...but how did you hear my thoughts?" "They were broadcasting as clear as day. In fact, a few passing ponies looked at you odd wondering just how you were doing it." "Oh...I see." Dark stared at the ground, "Well, that's awkward. Regardless! I suspect we've got a few red herrings in our midst so let us think on the clues." "Right! We have this wire string, a mysterious bottle of booze, and a report of some kind of minty paste." Thunder Fire scrunched her face in thought, "Wire string...booze...paste....Well, I can think of two ponies I know that we should check out." "And I can think of three...but the third puzzles me as to why she would have even been there. Let's check her out last." With that Dark led T-Fire through the snow-covered town to a shop that had two bottles criss-crossed over one another, "Ah yes, the Tipsy Mare...and inside we'll find the proprietor of this establishment. I can only hope she's a bit more sober than last time...not that I mind a cute mare clinging to me but she smelt like a distillery." "Well, it was New Years Eve after all." Thunder Fire smirked before hooking her wing around his waist, "But if you want a mare to cling to you, I'm sure I could fill that void." Dark laughed softly before ruffling her mane, "Well then, aren't I just the luckiest half-demon in the world?" "...wait, that wasn't a joke was it?" Thunder Fire blushed when Dark simply winked at her...and then tightened her wing hug, "S-so...you think this is from Berry's store?" "Well, there's only one mare that brews stuff more powerful than AJ's Zap Apple Cider...that lives in Ponyville anyway." Dark slowly opened the door before hearing a familiar voice, "Why hello Berry Punch. How might you be today?" "Darkness Shade? What wind has you blowing into my store today?" Berry smirked, "And just who is this lovely mare that's attached to you?" Feeling a bit self-conscious now, Thunder Fire let go and went to browse the merchandise on sale in an attempt to hide her now flame-red cheeks from view. Snickering slightly at her shyness, Dark turned his attention back to Berry Punch, "Well we found this bottle...and after sampling it, I'm pretty sure it's one of yer blends." Berry Punch took the bottle and examined it thoroughly before taking a swing, "Oooooh yeah! That's one of mine for certain!" "...I should probably be more concerned at how eagerly you downed what was left in that." "Oh Dark, it's five o'clock somewhere in Equestria! Now then, where did you find this?" "You see...we found that at the Royal Castle." "In Canterlot? I do ship some there on occasion but..." "Yes, this was found somewhere it shouldn't have been. Namely where the outfits for the Hearth's Warming Eve pageant were stolen from!" Dark dramatically pointed at Berry Punch who gasped and stumbled backwards in shock, "...maybe that was too dramatic." Thunder Fire glanced at him before rolling his eyes, "Ya think?" Helping her up, Berry Punch regained her composure before asking the all important question, "So then...you think I did it?" "Well, we're chasing down the clues we found but...it is a bit suspicious that we would find this there." Dark noted, watching her carefully for any sign of worry, "Do you have anyone that can vouch for your whereabouts the night of the theft?" "Of course! It happened just a few days ago right? At about that time Derpy Hooves and I had gone on a Mother's Night Out while your dear brother and those mares of his watched the kids for us. It really was quite fun and I could tell Derpy needed it; her postal job is more stressful than you'd think so I was glad to help her unwind some." "...it still boggles my mind that you're a mother sometimes with how hard you party." Dark shook his head, "But that's nice of you. Derpy is a sweet mare who gets hassled more than she should be." Thunder Fire had been writing all this down in her notebook before stashing it, "Okay. That's all we need for now. We'll get a statement from Ms. Hooves shortly to see how things match up." "Okay. That sounds fine. Am I okay for now? I've never been part of a possible suspect line-up." "You're okay, as long as you don't leave town. If you do, that's probably suspicious." Dark laughed softly, "Say hi to your daughter for me." After having left there and then bumping into Derpy who was more than happy to give a statement, the two of them had headed towards the next possible suspect...and ended up bumping right into their third suspect. "Oh I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going and—huh! It's you!" Dark had only a moment to recover before he felt a pony latch on to him tight. Seeing the mixes of light mint with white, there was only one pony this could be, "Hello, Lyra. How are you today?" "Eeeeee, I love it when you say my name!" Lyra giggled before staring up at him, "So how are you? I know we only saw each other two weeks ago but that seems like forever ago." "...uhm, he's turning purple." Thunder Fire noted, motioning at Dark's face. "Oh! Sorry!" Lyra quickly let go of her glomp, allowing Dark to return to normal...sort of. "Hey! I am normal! I just happen to be half-demon normal!" Thunder Fire sighed and face-hoofed, "Stop arguing with the author before he puts us into a pair of situations we won't like." "Fine, fine...anyway, I'm okay Lyra. Where were you going in such a hurry?" Lyra stepped back as Dark stood back up, "Well, it's the strangest thing but the other day my lyre just broke a string." "How is that strange?" Thunder Fire looked at the broken lyre, "Don't strings usually wear out over time?" "Yes but this one I had just changed. And it broke when I wasn't playing it. My roommate told me it broke while I was over at your brother's discussing more human things with him." "Heh, you never tire of hearing about our world huh?" "Nope!" Lyra grinned happily, "It all sounds so crazy but cool! And it seems there is always something new I find out. Oh! Speaking of, I've gotta hurry! I have to take this to the repair shop and then get over to your brother's house! I'm meeting him and his mares for Christmas Tea and Cake! If you guys aren't busy, I'm sure they'd love to have you stop by too! Good luck with...well, I didn't catch what you were doing. Haha." "Oh, that's easy: we're trying to find the stolen outfits." Lyra stared at Thunder Fire, "You mean the one's for the play? The ones that Rarity spent so much time on?! The ones that carry the spirit of the holidays?! WHO WOULD RUIN CHRISTMAS!?" "...Hearth's Warming Eve." Dark snickered before feeling T-Fire's eyes on him, "What? You're the only one that can tease somepony about that?" "Yes!" Thunder Fire stuck out her tongue, "Heh, sounds like being around these two so much has affected your thinking a bit." Lyra blushed before lightly tapping the ground, "Well, maybe...anyway, like I said I've gotta run! Have a good holiday guys and good luck finding those costumes! I'm really looking forward to seeing you in the play this year Dark." "Yeah, sure! Thanks Lyra, we'll do our best and see ya at the play." Dark watched her run off for a moment until his smile slowly turned into a confused look, "....did she say seeing me in the play this year?" "Oh yeah, there was this thing.....I was supposed to give you from Ryan? Twilight? One of them..." Thunder Fire pulled something out of her mane, "Here you go!" Dark looked at the envelope's contents before blinking, "...fantastic...well, better find those costumes so we don't disappoint all my adoring fans! Onward!" Knocking on the door of the local dentist shop and hearing no response, Dark pushed the door open to see that all was a bit quiet. "Too quiet...I don't like this." Thunder Fire looked at Dark, "What do you mean?" "Shhh....something's not right here." "Mmmmph!" "There!" Dark leaped over the desk and plowed into the office to see somepony tied up in the dentist chair with floss, "Colgate?" "Mmmmph! Mmm!" "Dark, look out! Somepony's there!" Dark narrowly ducked out of the way before watching a heavy model of teeth fly by and shatter on the wall. Turning towards where his assailant must've been, he saw just a shadow before the figure was out of the room. "I'm on it! Help her out!" Thunder Fire shouted as she chased after the shadow, heading out of the building in hot pursuit. Hoping she'd be alright, Dark turned back to Colgate before pulling the gag out of her mouth, "Are you okay?" "I am now that you showed up." Colgate sighed as Dark slowly cut the floss, "I was about to close up shop for the holidays when I was ambushed and knocked out. When I came to I was tied up here in the chair but I wasn't sure by whom." "My guess is the same person that tried to attack me as well." Dark noted before smirking, "Huh...this is a unique opportunity I have you in though." Colgate saw that he'd stopped cutting her free and narrowed her eyes at him, "Dark..." "Well, aren't you the one that's always so excited to have me in such a situation given these lovely fangs of mine?" "Well...y-yes...but....that's because you're so exotic! As a dentist I do crave some variety, looking at flat pony teeth all the time is a bit...boring." Colgate watched his grin widen which only served to further her panic, "Now Dark, don't do anything too hasty...." "Hasty?" Dark smirked, "Me? Hasty? Oh no, I'm anything but that my dear Colgate." With that Dark cracked his knuckles before attacking her weak spot, tickling her stomach over and over to the sounds of her laughter. "Dark! Gwahahahahahaha! Stop! Ahahahaha! I won't get so crazy next time you need dental help! Bwahahahaha! Please....! I promise I'll control myself!" Dark looked at the blue pony who was on the verge of tears and finally stopped, "Okay then, I suppose I can accept that." With that he finally finished setting her free as she tried to calm down. Hearing a noise they turned to see Thunder Fire returning and looking quite tired. "What happened? Did whoever that was get away?" Thunder Fire turned to Colgate and nodded, "Yeah. They gave me the slip. They were fast whoever it was. I only managed to get this when it fell off them." Dark took the offered item and studied it intently, "The color looks familiar and....this paper." Lifting it up to his face he gave it a sniff before licking the wrapper. Colgate gave him an odd look at this, "...is that wise to be licking it?" "Oh yeah, that's the best way to gather clues! Especially when the wrapper is from candy. And not just any candy...there's only one pony that makes candy like this. We might have been on the right track heading to Lyra's...because I think we might just bump into the culprit there." "Are you sure, Dark? Should we...prepare for a fight?" Dark shook his head, "I think we should be okay...if I'm right we might be able to get the jump on her. Are you going to be okay, Colgate? Anything we can do to help?" "No, no...I think I'll be okay for now. I'm going home and doing something I tell everypony not to for their teeth's sake: eating my weight in Pinkie Pie™ brand chocolate to cope with the stress of all this. Happy Hearth's Warming you two!" With their sights set on the likely pony, Dark and Thunder Fire strolled through the streets as night began to settle. With it, the lights around town slowly turned on and Ponyville looked like a winter wonderland all aglow. "It's so beautiful tonight, with how the snow catches the colors and reflects them all about. It reminds me of our childhood back home." "You don't talk much about when you were young..." Thunder Fire turned to see Dark staring off into the distance, "...Darkness?" "Huh? Oh, yeah...when we were young was tough. Even with the modern day and age we lived in, those like me were still treated like crap by other people. Seen as monsters because of our capabilities and attributes." Dark sighed softly before smiling at her, "There were bright moments thanks to my family...especially Ryan. He always stood up for me against the other kids...and always got hurt because of it but he never wavered and so I never fell into that emptiness that others did. Who knows how I'd be if it wasn't for him...probably not as silly, that's for sure." "Darkness Shade not silly?" Thunder Fire gasped and placed her hoofs on her cheeks, "I couldn't live in such a world!" "Hahahaha, that's sweet of you to say T-Fire." Dark scooped her up for a big hug, "After all of this, how about some pizza on me?" "Pizza on you, huh?" Thunder Fire stuck out her tongue, "Wouldn't that be messy?" "Heh, you know what I mean!" "I sure do! ...all the toppings I want too?" "Heh, of course. It'll be my pleasure." Thunder Fire smiled before kissing his cheek and blushing, "Thanks. That sounds like fun. Now then, let's go save Christmas!" "I thought it was Hearth's Warming Eve?" Dark teased, though that was partially to keep from letting it show her action had taken him by surprise. "I have decided, after a pair of moments, that either one works as the true spirit is the same! Now...you should probably put me down so we can finish this case and go get pizza!" Laughing softly, Dark set her down as they continued towards their destination...and when she offered him her wing he was more than happy to take it in his. "So should we just knock?" "I figure that's the best option, it's not like we're trying to sneak in." Dark knocked on the door and waited, "...hmmm." It was a pair of moments before the two heard some noise and then the door opened to reveal a beige pony looking a bit bewildered. "...Bon-Bon? Everything okay?" "Dark? Oh yes! Yes! Just fine! Was cleaning up is all and I tripped so....what can I help you guys with? I don't think Lyra is here..." "Oh we know, we came to see you." Bon-Bon looked left and right nervously, "Me? Why me?" "Well, we found this." Thunder Fire held up the wrapper, "Look familiar?" "Why, yes! That's the wrapper I use on my special candies." Bon-Bon stared at it, "What about it?" "Well, we need to talk a bit, could we come in?" Bon-Bon seemed a bit bothered by that question before grinning, "Sure! Come on in! I'll make some cocoa!" Dark grinned, "Yer special blend? Oh yeah! Score." Thunder Fire shook her head, "Always thinking with them taste buds of yours...my partner, everypony." "Oh shush." Dark rolled his eyes before heading in and getting settled on the couch, "Relax T-Fire, it's all good." Bon-Bon was back a few moments later with three mugs of cocoa, two of which she offered to them, "Drink up you two! Nice and fresh!" "Thanks!" Dark took a sip and sighed, "Oh...bliss. Anyway, we came by to ask about that since we believe the thief that absconded with the outfits for the Hearth's Warming Eve play dropped it." Bon-Bon grinned, "You don't say?" "Yes. So we were wondering if you could tell us if anypony suspicious had bought sweets from you lately." "Well...Thunder Fire was it?" "Yes?" "Well....hahahaha, I suppose there was one pony that was suspicious." "What does....that....mean...." Thunder Fire suddenly felt very sleepy as her head swayed back and forth, "What....the...cocoa?" "Ugh....T-Fire...." Dark groaned as he clutched his head, "Bon-bon....you drugged our drink....so you are..." "Hahahaha, looks like Darky figured it out...but too bad for him and his little partner, getting careless like that." "Ugh...you won't...get away....with this..." "You sure are tenacious, but what else would one expect from a half-demon? In the end you'll collapse just as your mare there." Dark knew she was right as his senses began to dull while he fought to stay awake, "Bon....Bon." With a thud, Dark's form collapsed forward on to the floor next to the unconscious Thunder Fire as Bon-Bon looked on with an evil smirk as she laughed at her triumph... "Ugh....I knew she'd try to slip us a mickey but...whatever that was certainly packed a punch." Dark glanced about at their surroundings, "As I thought, she took us to wherever she's keeping the outfits. Heh, she doesn't know all that about half-demons if she thinks a little thing like that was going to knock me out for long. Although..." Dark turned to look at his partner and saw she was still sawing wood. Realizing that he couldn't let that keep going on, he gave her a poke...then a shove...before shaking her to no avail. "Hmmm, well I can only think of the one option." Dark grinned widely before smooching her, "Wake up T-Fire!" "What?!" Thunder Fire gasped before popping up and clocking poor Dark with her head, "...Dark? What happened? The cocoa! Wait...did you kiss me?" "Had to, there was mistletoe!" Thunder Fire looked around but saw none, "...where?" Dark smirked before pulling some out of his jacket, "Right here! I never leave home without it! But let's focus on the important part right now: the fact that we're locked up, but that I can see the outfits over there." Dark motioned across the room, "They seem okay too...but Bon-Bon...I wouldn't have believed it. I wonder why she was doing this?" "...I'm not." Dark and T-Fire looked at each other before turning to see another pony locked up and looking a bit ragged. The beige coat, the blue mane with the pink streak, and then that trifecta of candy bows for a cutie mark...there was no doubt in Dark's mind this was indeed Bon-Bon. "Which begs the question then...if you're here, then who the heck spiked our cocoa?" "I don't know myself, I was knocked out and taken here by somepony pretending to be me." "Pretending? Wait...." Thunder Fire tapped a hoof to her chin, "I'm getting one of those headaches with pictures." Dark smirked, "...an idea?" "Yeah! That!" Thunder Fire chuckled, "If this pony is perfectly mimicking her, isn't that like those creatures we dealt with during that wedding?" "You're right...but....that would make no sense? Why would a Changeling try to ruin Christmas?" "...Hearth's Warming Eve is what I believe you mean. And why wouldn't I try to ruin it?" The trio of captives turned to see somepony new walk into the scene: though at first it did resemble Bon-Bon soon a glow covered what appeared to be a him as he turned back into his natural form. "A changeling! But I don't understand, Chrissy and us are all on good terms now after that whole mess involving her and Ryan." Dark growled, "Are you a rogue changeling?" "You humans...showing up like you did made things strange on our queen. She changed and sought out peace after she found out your brother wasn't dead. And you offered it to her despite it all...she's so...nice now and pleasant. It's all wrong!" "So what, you think by ruining the holidays you're going to get some kind of revenge?" Thunder Fire huffed, "Kind of cliché if you ask me..." "You're a cliché!" The Changeling spat back, "Besides...now that you're out of the picture, I can finally put my big plan into action. For you see, why blame a pony when I can pin the problem on someone who's in the public eye even more so?" The three gasped as the changeling glowed and slowly but surely changed until he looked like...Dark? "How? I didn't think you could mimic my brother and I's forms because we're so different from your body structure!" "Maybe some low-level dreck that couldn't copy a squirrel but I'm a bit above that." The Changeling cackled in Dark's voice, "So tall too...this must be what it's like for our queen seeing as she's your height after all. Now then, sorry to run but I must be off. Trouble to cause and all that..." Dark chuckled softly, "Oh, I don't think you'll be going anywhere." "Oh? And why's that?" "Because mommy's here, and she's very, very pissed." The Changeling gulped at the new voice and turned to see none other than the Queen of the Changelings standing in the entryway glaring at him. "My...my queen!" "Hey Chrissy! How's it hanging?" Chrysalis glared at her brood for a moment before turning and grinning at Dark," Darkness Shade, it has been a while. Nice to see you're still quite good at getting into trouble. Mind if I help out this time?" Dark gave a bow, "I'd be insulted if you didn't m'lady." "Ever the gentleman. Now then..." Chrysalis turned towards her son, "Young man what has gotten into you? Do you know how much trouble you've caused for these poor ponies? And Dark too?" "But mom..."The Changeling whined, "We're not living in the true Changeling way!" "Silence Timothy! I don't want to hear any more of that nonsense! You should be so thankful I showed up when I did otherwise you could've gotten hurt!" "Hurt? How? They're all locked up!" "You stupid boy, don't you realize that Dark was just playing you? He probably let himself get knocked out just on the chance you'd bring him to here...and guess what? He was right!" "Yeah!" Dark cheered, "Tell him Chrissy!" "Quite! He was right, which is rare I might add—" "Hey! Wait!" Ignoring Dark's little outburst, Chrissy continued, "Besides, what is this you're going on about with the true Changeling way? Do you mean that nonsense that almost led to tragedy and sent us into turmoil after I....I did something I still can't forgive myself for doing? Even if he has?" Timothy stood there before hanging his head, "...yes. You were once so fierce and now...you're kind. It's...weird. This cooperation is...unusual for us. No longer having to hide in the shadows, preying on creatures when we can for the love we need...it feels so strange." "That is what we call peace my dear son." Chrysalis walked over and nuzzled him, "It is contentment at knowing we no longer must harm others to get what we need to live. Now change back to normal and let those three out, you have an awful lot of apologizing to do to them...and all the other ponies affected by your childish plan of revenge." "Yes mother." Timothy hung his head sadly before assuming his natural form and opening up the cage door for them, "I'm sorry everypony..." "Eh, don't sweat it kid." Thunder Fire patted him on the head, "We all do some crazy things now and then...trust me on that one. Although most of it is from living with this guy..." "...ouch!" Dark groaned as he held his chest, "First Chrissy makes fun of me and now T-Fire? Sheesh, no respect for the half-demon I swear!" At this the group there laughed softly, the tension slowly fading and making way for the joyous feeling this season instills in all. After having checked over the costumes, Dark and Thunder Fire were relieved to see they were still in pristine condition. Carefully taking them, Dark turned to head out with the others before he had a thought, "Hey...yer name is Timothy right?" "Yeah? And?" "And yer a short guy from what it seems as well..." Thunder Fire wondered what he was hammering at until she remembered something about a story he'd once told her that involved Christmas, "Dark...don't you dare!" "Then that would make you 'Tiny Tim'." Dark sputtered at first before finally busting out into loud laughter as Chrysalis and Timothy could only look on in confusion. As for Thunder Fire, she could only shake her head before smirking, "As dumb as that was, I must admit it was a Dickens of a joke. Come on you goofball, let's get those back to Rarity so the play can get back on track." Finally calming his laughter, Dark nodded his head and followed the two Changelings up the stairs before they came out at—of all places—just outside the farm. "Well then, that'll save us some time. If my guess is right, we haven't been out that long so Ryan and the others should still be having their Christmas tea get together." Dark winked at Chrysalis, "How about we go join them? I'm sure he'd love to catch up with you Chrissy." "Well, I..." Chrysalis seemed reluctant before softly smiling, "Oh hell, why not? It would be nice to hear his laugh again. Haha." With that our heroes had finally solved their case and found the missing outfits with time to spare; knocking upon the door to his house, Ryan happily opened the door to greet them...and then jumped out of the way as Rarity quickly ran over once she saw her dresses. "Oh my gorgeous outfits! You found them! And they're still as lovely as when they were stolen! Oh I just knew you two could do it!" Dark laughed softly, "Come on...we're the Bottom of the Plot detective agency. We always solve our case because we know how to properly seek out the low-lying clues." "Heh, more like yer always staring at pretty plots so you know what it's like when somethin' unexpected rears its head." Ryan teased before laughing, "Emphasis on rear! Also, go me! Ah got a line in this story! Wooo!" Chrysalis could only smile, "Ah, I have missed that silliness..." "It's good to see you too, Chrissy. Now come on, we've got cocoa and tea and we just busted out this amazing cake Pinkie baked. Although...Lyra was kinda eyeing it so maybe leaving her, Pinks, and Dashie alone with it wasn't the best of ideas." At that those there laughed before joining their other friends and partaking in a pleasant, yuletide moment... "I still can't believe they cast me without letting me know." Dark grumbled as he sat backstage after the play, "How else did they expect me to play a pony?" Thunder Fire shrugged before smirking at his costume, "I don't' know, but you know how to play me pretty well so..." Dark sputtered at her boldness, "That's not the same!" "Could've fooled me." Thunder Fire snickered, "But really...you got on all fours and went 'Neigh' for goodness sake." "...should I have whinnied instead?" Dark laughed softly before grinning, "I thought that was what a background pony was supposed to do though....right Apps?" AppleJack paused before immediately dropping what she was doing and twirling to stare at Dark, "...what d'ya say, dead man?" Ryan, immediately realizing the situation, quickly grabbed a hold of her before laughing nervously, "Now Apps, no need to get so upset. Ah'm sure Dark was just having some fun with ya, that's all. No need to go and harm him...at least not in the way ya intend to." "Yikes! She gets scary when people joke about that with her!" Dark chuckled...though not for long as Ryan was soon being dragged by AppleJack, "Oh crap....well, Ah can tell when we're not wanted." Quickly shucking off his outfit and tossing it to Rarity, Dark scooped up Thunder Fire before winking, "Later everypony! I better make tracks before mah plot ends up six feet under! See ya for a nice Hearth's Warming feast tomorrow though! Merry Christmas!" "Dark! You get yer half-demon, wise-crackin', sorry excuse for a bi-pedal creature self back here so Ah can kick yer plot up and down Canterlot!" AppleJack shouted as Dark took off, flying passed a very confused Princess Celestia and Luna. "Goodness me, Dark was certainly making tracks." Celestia smirked, "Although I see he didn't leave empty-handed." "...oh what did we miss this time?" Luna heaved a sigh, "I swear, it seems like we can't have one moment where our beloved humans don't stir things up." "Hey! Ah find that offensive!" Ryan huffed, letting go of AppleJack and watching her fall over from her momentum, "...oops. Sorry hun." "It's not trouble, Princess! It's fun! And fun is always welcome to Pinkie Pie!" "Pinkie..." Twilight shook her head, "Should we chase after him?" "Nah, let him go off. We can always get him back later." Rainbow Dash snickered, "Any reason to prank him is good in my book." Fluttershy nodded her head, "Oh yes...I think it would be best to attend to our own holiday plans with Ryan but...I wonder why he took Thunder Fire with him?" "Oh darling, I think that reason is very obvious." Rarity snickered before hugging on Ryan, "The same reason our dear human always takes us with him of course." Ryan simply blushed and laughed, "...y'all just love seeing me blush don't ya?" "Yes!" Meanwhile, high above the skies somewhere between Canterlot and Ponyville, Dark and Thunder Fire were enjoying a lovely evening flight back home...or rather T-Fire was while Dark carried her along. "...you can flap your wings anytime ya want, T-Fire." "Maybe but...I'm just so tired from being in that play...so I won't." Dark smirked as she adjusted her hold on his neck, "I think it's just because ya want to be closer to mah sexy self." "...I refuse to comment on the fact that doing so might incriminate me." "Heh, works for me hon." With that they enjoyed the simple quiet of a winter night amongst the clouds until they soon saw the lights of their hometown come into view. Beginning his descent, Dark landed just outside his house before setting her down on the snow-covered ground. Thunder Fire really wasn't sure what to do as she didn't exactly want to be alone on Hearth's Warming Eve...but luckily somepony was way ahead of her. Opening the door for her, Dark led her into his home where—somehow—he had a roaring fire going in the chimney and a thermos of Sweet Apple Acres Zap Apple Brand Hot Cider™ ready along with two mugs with which the two could partake of it with. Of course, as promised, there was also a large box that contained a piping hot pizza with all of T-Fire's favorite toppings on it. Thunder Fire was surprised and slightly confused at just how in the heck all of this was set up when they'd been gone most of the day. "I can see it in your eyes, you're wondering "How did Dark do this? How did that smexy half-demon pull off such a romantic setting?" Yes?" Dark chuckled softly as he led her to the couch before pouring her a mug, "Well, let's just say there's a plus to having friends of all kinds. Haha." Thunder Fire figured that was a good enough explanation—especially when it came to anything Dark did—and happily took the warm mug of cider...before getting a bit comfy with Dark when he finally sat down. "Oh my...need a bit of warming up, T-Fire?" Dark chuckled softly before sipping his cider, "Ah...nothing like Apple family cider." "...especially when shared with those you love." Thunder Fire quietly mumbled before sighing as Dark raked his clawed fingers gently through her wings, "Oh my..." "Hahaha, as I recall you saying, I do know how to play you very well." Dark curled his tail around her waist before holding her close, "Good cider, a warm fire, and a cute mare at my side...heh, guess I got my Hearth's Warming wishes." "And I got my Christmas ones as well." Thunder Fire's cheeks turned red at her thoughts, "Well, almost...there was one that I kind of got but I don't think that—" Dark saw fit to cut her off as he planted his lips on hers before slowly ending the kiss, "That you'd get a chance to enjoy it while awake? Come now my dear partner, you know very well that Darkness Shade always gets his friends what they want for Christmas." "And then some." Thunder Fire laughed softly before resting her head in Dark's lap, "Merry Christmas, Dark." "Hahaha, Happy Hearth's Warming T-Fire." "And Luna bless us, everypony!" Their eyes flew open wide at the third voice before they whirled around to see its owner decked out in a rather iconic red suit, "DISCORD!" "That's me!" Discord laughed, before waving, "Merry Christmas everyone out there in human land! Merrrrry Christmas! Hohoho!" ~Fin~
