Derpy woke up from her amazing dream. "I do love muffins!" she sighed. She got out of bed and quickly made it, she didn't want to be late again! She threw on her uniform, a blue top with an envelope pin on it. She hurried downstairs and made her usual breakfast. Toast, eggs, Pony Crunch cereal, and orange juice. When she was done, she hastily washed her dishes and flew upstairs to her bathroom. After she brushed her teeth and mane, she flew out her front door, ready for work.
"There you are Derpy!" Derpy's boss, Heavy Lifter said. "You and Cloudkicker will take this box to Twilight Sparkle's house. It is VERY fragile so be careful!"
"We will!" Derpy replied to her boss.
"You better be, remember what happened last time?" he exclaimed harshly. Derpy winced and nodded. She had dropped a box full of expensive, fragile plates and had almost gotten fired. "Now go!" Heavy Lifter sighed.
Eventually, she and Cloudkicker made it to Twilight's. Derpy knocked on the door. When Twilight opened the door, Derpy said, "Here's your box miss!"
"Thank you Derpy!" Twilight replied and shut the door.
"Lets go Derpy!" Cloudkicker sighed. She just wanted to get away from this klutz before she broke something and got them both fired. They flew off, back to Heavy Lifter's office.
"Now, Derpy" he said as Derpy entered his office, "you may go have that day off you requested, but you must be here three hours early tomorrow to make up for it!"
"Thank you Mr. Lifter!" Derpy exclaimed, "I-"
"Now go!" he yelled, "I have some important work to do!"
Derpy flew excitedly towards Sugarcube Corner. She wanted to get there as quickly as possible, for her muffin finally came in! She raced quickly through Ponyville, almost running into the doctor. "Now, where are you going my dear Derpy?" he asked.
"Muffins, muffins, muffins!" she exclaimed before racing off into the streets of Ponyville once again.
"That explains it," the doctor said quietly to himself.
Derpy raced into Sugarcube corner, careful not to run into the many displays of scrumptious treats. "I'm here for my MUFFINS!" she yelled with an excited look in her eyes. Mrs. Cake looked at her with a blank stare.
"Oh, you thought....." she trailed off. "Derpy, our shipment of muffins doesn't come untill tomorrow, you're going to have to wait."
"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" Derpy screamed. "My.... MUFFIN!" She wailed as she raced out of Sugercube Corner.
"Derpy, you can just come ba-" Mrs. Cakes words were drowned out as Derpy raced across the street, bumping into somepony.
"Hey, watch it!" the mysterious mare yelled at Derpy, but she didn't care. She had gotten time off for this special moment! Just so she could get her muffins while they were steaming hot! Suddenly, Derpy stopped. She would have to wait all night so she could get her muffin while it was just right.
Derpy flew quickly home, making a mental list of what she needed. Sleeping bag, tent, toothbrush, Daring Do book...... She packed all these things in her bubbles saddlebag and set out for Sugarcube Corner. She unpacked her things in front of the door and laid back on her sleeping bag, ready to be the first one to get a muffin.
Derpy started drifting off, and soon, she was asleep. She awoke to the sound of some birds tweeting to each other. "What time is it?" she thought. She looked inside a window at Sugarcube Corner. "Five o'clock!" she exclaimed. "I have to wait a whole thirty minutes for my muffin?!" Derpy sighed and shuffled back into her tent. She pulled out her Daring Do book from her bag, hoping she could pass the time reading. She opened her book, ready to jump into this new Daring Do adventure.
"Daring!" Shast yelled. "Look out behind you there's a-"
"Got it!" Daring replied with a grunt, kicking the panther in the face. "I'm getting so tired of these panthers coming after us! They're just tiring me out!"
"I know, they're tiring me out too," Shast sighed. "We have to keep moving though, we can't let Shartang get that book before us!"
"You're right," Daring sighed, "I just wish.... why do we always have to do the hard work, surely someone else from the Organization could help us!" she cried.
"You know they can't Daring. I-" Derpy shut her book and looked out the flap in her tent into Sugarcube Corner. Finally, 5:30 arrived! Derpy dashed out of her tent, she was the most excited she had been all week! She finally was going to get her special muffin from Canterlot!
"Derpy?" Mrs. Cake exclaimed. She had seen ponies get up early for her treats, but not this early! "What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for my muffin," Derpy replied.
"Alright then, come in."
"Yes!" Mrs. Cake handed Derpy her muffin. Derpy ate it with much care. She took a napkin to make sure she lost no crumbs. She slowly ate it, bite by bite, piece by piece. Finally, she finished it. She took a long sip from her water bottle and said to Mrs. Cake, "Thanks!" She trotted out the door with a gleeful look on her face, that muffin had just made her day.
"I will never understand that pony," Mrs. Cake mumbled to herself.
