Lightning Storm's story.

by Darkened Lightning Storm

Getting home. (Hearths Warming Day part 1)

"Do I really have to wear it Lowell..?" Lightning Storm complained and prodded the Mare-Do-Well costume that was decked out in hearths Warming Eve decorations. Usually, she wouldn't have minded wearing her MDW outfit. It was a part of who she was and what she did, but she found it bothersome and an embarrassment to look like Hearths Warming Eve tree grew legs.

"Daring Do told me to make sure you were ready for the holiday party." Lowell said looking at the outfit obviously proud of his work.

"Lowell... I think she meant that you needed to tell me where it was an when it was happening... Which you didn't do..."

"Well whatever. I think your costume looks awesome and if you didn't have to wear it, I totally would." Lowell told Lightning Storm as she stepped into the tight costume and zipped it up.

"Ugh, Rather this suit is shrinking or I need to cut down on Pinkie's cupcakes." Lightning Storm grumbled as she pulled the mask over her head and placed her hat on.

"I have no idea how I'm going to get out of this thing... Ugh Lowell why'd you make me look like a walking ordainment? I'm supposed to be able to hide in the shadows and NOT be noticeable and be mysterious, not be spotted from a mile away!" Lightning storm grumbled as she and Lowell left the house.

"LS, why the hay do you have to live in the Everfree forest? Why can't you live in town like every pony else? It's going to take us hours to get to Applejacks..." Lowell said ignoring Lightning Storms complaints about outfit. As the two friends trotted through the forest they started to noticed the snow picking up.

"Oh.. That's right... There was a snowstorm scheduled for today... Buck! Oh.. And I live in the Everfree forest because I'm just cool like that." Lightning storm grumbled as she stuck out her tongue out at him, catching a couple snowflakes.

"How could you forget about the snowstorm when you're the pony who takes care of the weather..." Lowell asked as he kicked at the snow while they walked.

"Oi! Dashie took care of the weather today!" She glared as Lowell grew a smug look on his face.

"Oh really, "Dashie" took care of the weather." Lowell laughed as Lightning's face grew red.

"Shut the buck up...! I didn't mean to say Dashie! I.. Uh.. meant to say Dash...!" She spat at him and he just laughed.

"Oh come on now LS, it's obvious to every pony you have a thing for her..." Lowell smiled at at as her blush worsened.

"W-well it's obvious to every pony t-that you... You... H-have... A... Uh... " Lightning Trailed off and looked away from Lowell as he chuckled.

"Storm, I'm pretty sure she likes you too. When are you going to make a move anyways?" Lowell asked but Lightning didn't respond. It was actually silent between them for a good 20 minutes, the snow had started coming down so hard that they could hardly see the ground beneath them.

"Hey low!"

"Yea?"

"We gatta take a break, I can hardly see my own hooves in front of my face!" Lightning Storm grabbed Lowell and stumbled under a tree. Being able to see slightly better, she sighed.

"This stupid MDW costume makes it impossible to see..." Lightning Storm grumbled as she ripped her mask off and shivered.

"How the hay are we going to get to AJ's in this weather...?" Lowell sighed and huddled next to Lightning under the tree.

"No... Bucking... Clue..." Lightning sighed and leaned her head back against the tree. As see looked around and tried to focus her eyes, she noticed a medium sized cave. She quickly nudged his shoulder and smiled.

"Hey Lowell, I think I see a cave... Maybe I could try and make a fire and we could camp out there till the snow lets up some!" Lightning Storm quickly jumped up onto her hooves and cantered towards the cave with Lowell following behind silently. Lightning soon made a fire out of some twigs and pine needles they found on the ground and they ended up falling asleep.

~~~
Lightning Storm slowly started to wake up from her short 30 minute rest that seemed only like 5. blinking a few times, Lightning rubbed her eyes she noticed that she was still in the cave and not sleeping on the couch at Applejack's. As she looked around more, Lightning noticed that the fire was still going and Lowell was curled up in a ball, sleeping like a foal. She also noticed that the snow had let up some, and they would be able to see better. She slowly trotted over to Lowell and gave him a little shake
"Come on Low, wake up. The snow let up some, get up." Lightning said as there was no response except for a growl.
"Hey now, don't growl at me! We gotta get movin' if we wanna make it to the orchard by sunrise." She glared as lowell sat up sleepily.
"I didn't growl at you..." He yawned and another growl rung through the cave. Lightning's ears shot up quickly as she slowly turned her head to see a giant grizzly bear.
"oh buck..." Lightning muttered before the bear roared and LS and Lowell took off into the night. The snow was up to there knees so it was hard to run, the bear soon caught up and rammed it paws into Lightning Storm, it's claws clinging to her Mare-Do-Well outfit and ripping it off. The moment the outfit was ripped off Lightning Storm spread her wings and wrapped her forehooves around Lowell, quickly taking off and carrying him in the air. Pumping hard to keep them in the air, she flew high into the sky and above the clouds, landing on them.
"Holy buck..." Lowell gasped as Lightning glared at him.
"You didn't do anything! I was the one dragging your lazy flank up here! Your lucky that bear tore off my Mare-Do-Well outfit or else he would've eaten us both!" Lightning Storm laughed as the two started walling across the clouds.
"Dang... this sucks I really wish my wings would heal faster so I could fly...." Lowell mumbled prodding his hoof at his left wing with a sigh.
~~~

Lightning Storm woke up to warmth and the smell of pancakes. she slowly stretched her legs and rolled off the couch, trotting towards the kitchen. After the whole bear incident they mainly stayed on the clouds until they got to the orchard, once they arrived Applejack gave them a long lecture and they went to bed.

"Howdy Lightning, did yah sleep well?" Applejack asked from behind the stove as Lightning Storm gave her a sleepily smile.

"Yea, you?"

"Like always."

"Every pony up?"

"They're in tha dinin' room"

"Thanks AJ." Lightning yawned again as she walked into the dining room and saw all of her friends. From her co-workers to her close friends and family, they all sat around a large table.

"Hey every pony!" Lightning Storm smiled as she sat down inbetween Rainbow Dash and Lowell. Everyone had there own conversations going. Click, Dizty Do, and some mare were talking to Inkstroke and Unwanted about the foals, Silent Quill was writing in journal and showing it to Big Mac, The Elements of Harmony where having there own conversations among each other, The foals were sat a different table talking, and Lowell was deep in a conversation with Issac and a brown earth pony she didn't recognize. Rainbow Dash took notice in Lightning Storm and turned her head to her, smiling.

"Hey Storm." She said as Applejack came out with two large plates of pancakes and other breakfast foods. As every pony started serving themselves, Lightning smiled back at Dash.

"Hiya Dashie, sleep well?"

"Yea, the guest bedroom was kind of cramped considering the fact I had to share it with a bunch of other ponies... I rather had been sleeping downstairs with you were it was only you, and not 15 other mares." Dash chuckled and she took a pancake. Lightning Storm did her best to hide her blush as she ate and chatted among the group.
