The Caterpie Effect

Caterpie in Equestria

Caterpie was chilling in his pokeball, waiting for his trainer to send him out, maybe he could go back to day care and meet that other caterpie again. She was pretty cute. Man, he would do anything to see the daycare manager's face when she saw the egg again. That was priceless. Caterpie didn't understand why she was so surprised, it's only nature. He felt bad for catershe though, the egg was much larger than her. Anyways, maybe he'd meet another caterpie, just as a friend though. He did like friends. Caterpie missed his trainer's ponyta, she was pretty neat, in a scary sort of way. Something about the flaming mane set caterpie off. Too bad his trainer decided to get growlithe and replace ponyta. He was cool and all too, but, he wasn't as much of a talker as ponyta. He more of just stood there waiting for a command. Hey, maybe today caterpie would see a legendary pokemon? Or maybe, the trainer would finally challenge the pokemon league! Whatever happened though, caterpie loved his trainer.
Caterpie was thinking of what could possibly happen, when he heard the familiar 'bom' a pokeball makes when a pokemon is sent out. Caterpie stretched his back and looked around. There was another pokemon standing in front of him, but, it wasn't a pokemon. It was strangely human-like. Caterpie recognized where he was. It was similar to the Pewter City gym, but more wrecked, and less rocks.
"Mewtwo, your reign of terror will end here! Caterpie use headbutt!"
Caterpie decided the pokeman was what his trainer wanted him to attack. So he ran a few steps and jumped, head first. Caterpie's skull collided with the pokeman's. Caterpie jumped back and waited for his next command. The pokeman stood there like nothing happened.
"Was that supposed to hurt?" Mewtwo asked in a deep voice that seemed to reverberate around the ruins.
"Oh trust me, when caterpie uses his best move, it will sting in the morning."
"Hm, well, I suppose it's my turn." Mewtwo said. "Trans-dimensional rift!" He put his wrists together and spread his fingers, revealing his palms. Then he turned his hands so his right fingers were above his hands and left fingers below. A purple glow came from his wrists. The glow expanded for a while, then, everything around caterpie seemed to move towards the pokeman. Caterpie felt the wind getting sucked in too. Caterpie glanced back at his trainer in horror. He was holding onto a post and reaching for the pokeball that was used to catch caterpie, now resting on his belt. Caterpie had nothing to grab to slow the pull of the vortex. He shot string on the floor to hold himself down. The string broke and he was sent flying into the purpleness. The view of the world was a quickly fading circle. Caterpie's last sight was his trainer.
Caterpie was falling. Falling, but where to? There was nothing but darkness. Caterpie was going to miss his trainer, and he knew his trainer would miss him. They've been together since caterpie hatched. Trainer was 6 or 7 then. He was digging around his garden when he found caterpie's egg. When caterpie hatched, the trainer hugged him. He spent all his allowance to buy a poke ball so he could catch caterpie. Caterpie remembered getting the first gym badge, then the second, then the third. Trainer loved caterpie. He wouldn't go anywhere without caterpie. Trainer has most certainly caught more powerful pokemon that caterpie, but he never got rid of him. Caterpie was remembering those fun hours at day care with catershe when he felt something brush past him several times. He recognized them as leaves. Then, he hid something, hard. The collision should have killed him, but he was a bug type, which are strong to ground, so he only took half the damage.
Caterpie lied on the ground, he knew he wasn't falling anymore, which was a good thing. He lied there, then felt something grab him. It felt like hooves. Maybe Trainer sent ponyta in after caterpie to save him. No, Trainer uses growlithe now. He has paws. Maybe a wild giraffarig or deerling found him and was going to take him to the herd or give him an oran berry. Or maybe, just maybe, the trans-dimensional rift sent caterpie to an alternate dimension full of cartoon equines, some of which posses magical powers and others fly that was actually a cartoon in Trainer's world that was originally designed to teach little girls valuable lessons about friendship but many people found the show hilarious and watch it anyways and that it really wasn't a cartoon, but recorded television and that's where caterpie is now. Nah, that's preposterous.
"What are you little thing?" a soothing, motherly voice said. The owner of the voice picked Caterpie up. "it's all right, I won't hurt you. Open your eyes little guy."
Caterpie obeyed the voice. He opened his eyes and looked. There was a yellow horse holding him.
"Caterpie?" he asked. Maybe this was a newly discovered pokemon, or maybe an undiscovered pokemon.
"What's your name?"
"Caterpie?"
"Hello Caterpie, I'm Fluttershy."
"Cat?"
"No silly, it's Fluttershy, not Cat."
"Erpie?"
"Oh my, I have to go get Twilight." The so called 'Fluttershy' put Caterpie on her back and spread her wings. She began to fly somewhere.
Maybe this is rapidash's mega form? Her mane does flow like fire. Caterpie looked down at the ground. Maybe if he jumped, he could live the fall again. No, too risky. He had to trust this pegasus. As Caterpie watched what whizzed by below, he saw several other pony like creatures. There was a giant tree in the middle of town that the pegasus seemed to aim for. She flew right through the leaves and ended up in a library of some sort. There were several books, some similar, others not. Many new, but most appearing to be ancient. Caterpie stayed on the pegasus's back. It was very soft, nearly plush, and it was very comfortable. Something about this equine seemed lovely. Caterpie was sure he wasn't the first pokemon on this back.
Caterpie snuggled down, figuring it was ok to take a nap. It was a pretty stressful day. Losing his world AND Trainer. Is there any way today could be worse? Well, let's hope not. Caterpie was about to fall asleep when the hooves grabbed him again. They held him in front of the pony. There was another one there too. This one was purple and had a horn. Something about her seemed intelligent. She looked at Caterpie, which Fluttershy was presenting. The alicorn's stare seemed to peer into Caterpie's soul. It was as though she could see everything, all his secrets, his wishes, almost as if she knew more about Caterpie than he did.
"What is it Twilight?" Fluttershy asked.
"I, don't know. Though it appears to be a caterpillar." The alicorn said.
"Well, when I picked it up, it said 'Caterpie' and nothing else."
"So, well, may I see it?" Twilight reached out.
"Uhh, sure." Fluttershy slowly released Caterpie.
"CATER!" Caterpie screamed. These new hooves were not at all as soft and comforting as Fluttershy's. He bent his body and shot his string at Twilight's face. The sticky white goop covered all but her eyes.
"What, was that?" Twilight asked after wiping her face clean. She leaned in towards Caterpie closer as if the answer was written on his forehead. Caterpie saw the opportunity to get free.
Caterpie used headbutt. It's super effective!
Opponent Twilight Sparkle fainted.
Caterpie gained 1365 exp.
Caterpie leveled up.
What's this? Caterpie is evolving!
"Where is that voice coming from?" Fluttershy asked quietly as she watched Caterpie glow and slowly change shape. "And what do you think you're doing mister?" Fluttershy shouted at Caterpie.
Caterpie jumped at the scare. He stopped changing shape and turned back to Caterpie.
"Cater!" Caterpie thanked Fluttershy.
"I don't understand, what are you saying?"
Caterpie crawled over to Twilight and licked her unconscious body.
"What, happened?" Twilight asked, putting a hoof to her head where Caterpie hit her.
"I'm not sure." Fluttershy said.
"Maybe, it's a rare type of caterpillar, I'll go check my books." Twilight said as she ran to her bookshelf.
"Ok, and I'll take a nap while you do that." Fluttershy said. She wandered over to a corner and curled up. Caterpie followed close behind. Caterpie looked at Fluttershy and gave her the most adorable puppy dog eyes ever. Fluttershy reached out and pulled Caterpie closer with a smile. "You're a cute little fella." She said with a yawn. Caterpie yawned too and curled up on Fluttershy's stomach. Her fur on her stomach was softer than the rest if it was possible! Caterpie and Fluttershy fell asleep together.
Caterpie was half asleep when he saw a flash of purple light through his eyelids. He woke up and crawled away from Fluttershy.
"Cat? Caterpie asked. He saw two identical alicorns standing side by side.
"TWILIGHT!" one shouted at the other who was muzzle deep in a book about various bugs.
"Huh? Future Twi! You're back!"
"Yes, I came to tell you what that caterpillar is." Future Twilight said.
"What is it? And don't say a bug." Present Twilight said.
"It's a pokemon!"
"A pokey what?"
"A pokemon. They're mystical creatures from a mythical land where humans exist too. They have amazing powers. I haven't quite figured out what this one does, but it's name is Caterpie. Also, here. Two things that I think will really help you." Future Twilight gave Past Twilight a white and red ball and a red box with a few buttons. "This is a pokeball, use it to capture Caterpie. It will form a bond between you two so you can understand what he is saying. And that is a pokedex, use it to get information about any pokemon you see. Trust me, it will come in handy. And one more thing, get Caterpie home as fast as possible. You will not like what follows if he stays too long. Also." Future Twilight punched Past Twilight. "That's for punching me when I was younger!" There was another flash of purple light and Future Twilight was gone.
"Well then." Twilight put the pokedex down and looked at the pokeball. She trotted over to Fluttershy's slumbering form, where Caterpie was still sitting. Caterpie panicked and dove back under Fluttershy. He accidentally woke her up.
"Huh, wha?" Fluttershy lifted her head and looked at Twilight. "What's that?" she asked, sitting up and stretching with a yawn.
"This is a pokeball, I'm supposed to capture Caterpie so I can read his thoughts or something. Thing is, I have no clue how it works." Twilight said, holding out the pokeball.
"Let me see." Fluttershy took the pokeball and looked at it. "Well, there's a button here. So maybe you're supposed to do this." Fluttershy held the pokeball out to Caterpie and pushed the button. Nothing happened. "Umm, maybe you do th-" Fluttershy was about to say more when Caterpie jumped at the pokeball and hit the button with his head. It opened immediately and sucked caterpie in. "What?" Fluttershy asked as the ball shook in her grasp. There was a faint 'ding' and it flashed white momentarily. "Uhh. What did I just do?"
[Yay! Finally! I can talk to somebody!]
"Uhh, Twilight, did you say something?"
"No, why."
"I think there's a voice in my head."
[It's ok Fluttershy, it's only Caterpie. You caught me, so now we are forever linked. You can finally understand what I'm saying. Thank Arceus too, my last trainer was too thick skulled to hear me, but I still loved him.]
"Caterpie?" Fluttershy looked at the ball in her hooves in amazement.
"What's he saying?" Twilight demanded.
"I can, talk to you? And you can talk to me?" Fluttershy asked.
[Yup. Now, push the button on the pokeball and throw it on the ground.]
"Ummm, ok." Fluttershy did as she was told. The pokeball burst open and Caterpie popped out.
"Cater!" he said happily.
"So, I suppose now that we have a place for Caterpie to live when he isn't needed, we should figure out how to send him back." Twilight suggested.
"Oh, all right." Fluttershy said, slightly upset.
[I don't know why, but something tells me you shouldn't send me home.]
"Caterpie says we shouldn't try to sen him back." Fluttershy said, perking up.
"What? Why not?" Twilight asked, a slight edge in her voice. "Don't you remember what happened last time we didn't send a visitor back? I still feel the burn."
"Well, yeah but, that was a human. This is a pokemon. Shouldn't we at least do some research on it?"
"Fine. I'll research Caterpie, and you do whatever. Just stay out of my hair."

Caterpie's trainer was running up a huge mountain. Several rock pokemon stared at him as he passed, curious as to what he was doing, some went up to ask, but he responded by knocking them out. Eventually, he got to the top. The journey didn't tire him out due to adrenaline.
"Mewtwo!" he shouted from the top of Mt. Coronet. "You stole something I loved, and I will not let you do that to anyone else! You ran from me at the abandoned arena, only a coward runs from a fight. Now, you will answer for your crimes. GO AGGRON!" There was a flash of white as a giant dinosaur-like pokemon popped out of his pokeball. It screamed like metal scraping on metal.
"Hm. I see you finally captured a powerful pokemon." Mewtwo taunted.
"This guy is your worst nightmare. You and I both know that caterpie was super powerful. Aggron here is at least twice as strong." The trainer turned his Ash unlimitedĀ© hat backwards. "Aggron use rock blast!"
"AGGRON!" His pokemon responded. It's horn glowed silver and the silver shot from it, smashing into Mewtwo's face.
"Hm. A very powerful pokemon indeed. Stronger than that weakling of a pokemon you love so much. Tell me Tim, how could a trainer like you with so much potential love such a tiny worthless pokemon as caterpie?"
Tim's face turned white. "How do you know my name?" He asked.
"I am the ultimate life form. I know everything."
"That is a lie! I'm the ultimate life form!" an unknown voice called form the sky.
"Get out of here Shadow, Sonic isn't here!" Mewtwo shouted in response, shooting a blast of energy where the voice came from.
"Gah! Ok, sorry." The voice vanished and Mewtwo turned back to Tim just in time to get a face full of rock blast.
"Hah! Take that Mewtwo!" Tim laughed.
"That wasn't fair. Oh well, I'll still win. DRAIN PUNCH!" Mewtwo charged at aggron and punched him. After the hit, Mewtwo seemed to be in a better condition. Aggron fell back, putting on of his claws to his face as if that would help. "Give up yet Tim?"
"Never."
"Trans-dimensional rift!" Mewtwo moved his hands again and a purple light sucked aggron in before he could do anything.
"NO! NOT AGAIN!" Tim shouted when aggron vanished.
"Well, goodbye Tim." Mewtwo turned around. "Dialga, Palkia. I summon thee!" Two portals, one pink, one blue, appeared. Two dragon looking pokemon came out of them. They shouted simultaneously. Everything shook, and anything that moved seemed to go slower until the two creatures stopped. "You must do whatever I tell you to." Mewtwo flew up to their heads and touched both of them. Their eyes, previously a look of rage and hatred, turned into one of peace and understanding. "And two more dominoes fall." Mewtwo said with a devilish grin.
