//------------------------------// // September // Story: September // by Burritoburger //------------------------------// September I can't remember what happened in September. When everything is gone, when it's dark and I'm alone. It's been forever since I could have remembered. Where the hell is everypony? I just wanna know the story of what happened right before I became so alone. I woke up from what appeared to be a pile of rubble in front of me. I rubbed my head, as it hurt a whole lot. I got up and looked around. I almost screamed at what I saw. Houses were either destroyed or on fire, everything was a wreckage. Smoke clouds filled the sky, making it impossible to see the sun, and yet, the demolished city was plainly visible. I got up and started walking around. Taking a closer look, I could see several bodies below piles of wreckage and rubble, not a single soul breathing. I had so many questions running through my head. What is this place? Who am I? What happened around here? Why can't I remember anything? I had to get answers. I arrived at what appeared to be the town square. There was a newspaper on the ground, and I picked it up. I looked at the date. September 11. I wandered around even more, wanting many more answers. I began to examine the ponies more, and saw that they weren't just killed. They were obliterated. With many burn marks, there were also scratches and cuts all over them. As I was looking at them, I saw my own hoof. It was red, and a bit... sticky. I was a dark red, and I didn't have wings nor a horn. My mane was also a dark red. Same with the tail. Strange, I was only one color. Looking over all of the rest, they were a variety of colors, but it was hard to tell through the dust. I wandered more, coming across a big tree-like house. Still can't remember what happened in September. Back when everypony died, Trails of blood during my stride. I just discovered that the ponies were defeated by something really strong. It seemed very weird and wrong. It just doesn't belong, like it came out of this world. I opened the door, but it landed with a loud thud as it fell of of it's loose hinges. It appeared to be a library of sorts, and there were six ponies in the middle, dead. They all had strange necklaces on, except one, who wore a crown. Bookshelves were knocked over, and books were everywhere. It was difficult to find the baby dragon that was upstairs due to the rubble. I walked out of the building, knowing I wouldn't find answers there. Just as I walked out of the building, a flash went through my head, and I shut my eyes tight, holding my head, as it hurt. ...Finally. Finally, it's done! It's FINALLY DONE! HAHAHAHA! Stop it! He's trying to kill us all! Stop it! NO! No, I'm going to save you! I'm going to save you all! DON'T YOU TRY TO STOP ME! I've regained a small memory. Came to my head just like that suddenly. I think I've gotten a clue. Something tells me this is worse than what I knew. I opened my eyes again. Somepony tried to kill all of these ponies. But who? All I can do is find more clues to figure out what happened. Desperate, I dashed around the town, searching every house, nook, and cranny there was. But there was no hope. The only peculiar thing were two larger ponies, one white and one blue, that had both horns and wings, but they were dead, like the rest, blood all around them. I sighed and fell down, defeated. If only somepony would be alive. Somepony to help me find out what is going on. I weeped deeply, knowing I was the last one left. I was the only one that survived. I looked up, and a blue and red tail caught my eye. I pushed off the rubble, hoping this was it. I saw a black pony under it. Beside him was a metal box with a button on it. Strange. I picked up the device and examined it. Suddenly, everything clicked into place. I remember this device, and I remember this pony. I felt my head tense yet again, and closed my eyes. ...Finally...THIS IS YOUR REDEMPTION DAY EVRYPONY! GO AWAY FROM ME! STAY AWAY FROM ME! GO AWAY- HAHAHA! YOU CAN'T TOUCH ME NOW! You see this button here? I'M GONNA PRESS IT! I opened my eyes, a look of horror on my face. I looked down at the button, and back to myself. I found a nearby puddle, and splashed water into my face. The red faded a little bit, and showed a grey face. The red on me was blood. I looked down at the device, the one I had planned out, the one I had controlled to activate a war machine. That machine was long gone, out of sight. I looked back on the memory I had a few seconds ago. ...You see this button here? I'M GONNA PRESS IT! I pressed the button. I ended all of the life in this town. I killed everypony. I survived. I threw the device as far away as I could. I fell to my knees. Why did I do this? I must have gone insane! This is all my fault. I looked up. I knew there was only one way to end my misery. I got up and slowly walked over to the town square. All of these dead ponies. All of them. Because of me. I walked towards a nearby window that was smashed. I took one of the shards and picked it up. Through it's reflection, I could swear I saw myself. My other self. My insane self. The one that invented the machine, and killed all of these ponies. I closed my eyes and placed the sharp part of the shard in front of my neck. *SLICE* All that was left of this murderer was just a bloody slump on the ground. One that regretted all of his decisions. One that had such a terrible past, his fate the same. The now wrecked city of Ponyville is a reminder. A reminder of the killer that ended all of these lives, as well as his own. I just remembered what happened in September. I'm the one who killed them all! I survived after the fall!
