//------------------------------// // Bunnies // Story: Bunnies // by Agalakachikaboum //------------------------------// Rainbow Dash was flying high up in the sky, turning around each cloud and blowing the dark ones away. She zigzagged across each bird, boost in the wind to create a slight breeze across the town. She swirled into a small tornado, approaching all the clouds to create one big, fluffy, white paw in the sky. As she shot to the ground, she stopped two inches before crashing to the ground and rested on the soil earth. As she walked calmly across a small road, the first house she encountered was Fluttershy’s. She was flying nervously around the meadow, trying to calm down the bunnies that had gone crazy for a reason the yellow mare ignored. “Carrot, come back here… No, Skip, don’t go there! Oh, no, no, no…” she muttered to herself in her normal low tone. The only rabbit who seemed to obey was Angel, Fluttershy’s favorite bunny. He was hopping beneath her, doing his best to follow her owner. “Hey, Fluttershy! Need some help?” asked the cyan mare. She was happy to encounter the shy pony, since she has been very busy with her animals the last two days, and came out only once for a minute or two only. In that short period of time, Rainbow Dash realized how lonely she felt when the yellow mare wasn’t around, the hole she left in the team. The other mane 4 didn’t seem to mind much, at least way less than Dash did. “Oh yes, please,” asked the shy mare in her cute, shyly voice. “The bunnies are very excited this morning and won’t obey, I don’t know why,” she said desperately. She was nervous seeing how many bunnies were jumping everywhere like crazy. It was a real fiesta, and not even the Stare could calm them down, since they were too many. “Hey, I’ll get them up in a corner in no time!” shouted Rainbow Dash, taking flight again. She did as same as she normally does with clouds; for her, bunnies and clouds were the same thing. Unlike her expectations, the bunnies got scared by the rainbow mare flying fast above them, they started running in all directions, thrown by the panic. As Dash tried with all efforts to bring them all in one spot, she did the exact contrary. “Argh! They just won’t stay!” she argued as she landed next to Fluttershy. “This is no good,” whispered the shy mare as she looked at the scene in disbelief. Her adorable pets started destroying everything: the flowers on the ground, the cages, and the fences. “No, please, don’t do that!” she shouted the louder she could to a bunny that tried to hop off the fence, to flee from the agitation. The white felly didn’t hear her, as he jumped over the fence and off to the Everfree forest. “Oh no…” sighed Fluttershy. She looked down, feeling weak towards the situation. Rainbow Dash continued to fly around the bunnies, trying to approach the one to the other, but without success. She flew back to Fluttershy, where she found her friend in tears. “Hey, Fluttershy!” she shot. “What’s wrong?” She lowered her face, trying to look the yellow mare in the eyes. But she didn’t need to do as so since Fluttershy raised her head as she heard Dash talk. The poor mare looked pitiful. She had tears in her yes, but they didn’t have time to fall yet. Her eyes were slightly closed, showing a storm of sadness and regret in them. Her mouth was shaking a bit, as she mouthed some words that came out. “I-I don’t want them to go away…” she sobbed. Indeed, the bunnies fled in the forest one by one, but they did have to make an effort so they still had time to save some of them. But for the moment, Dash didn’t take time to try and catch the bunnies. She was staring at Fluttershy. She felt a wave of sympathy for her friend. She wanted to cheer her up, to help her. She had an urge envy to hug her, to sweep her tears away. For a second, even the idea to kiss her passed through her mind. But it didn’t last long. No way! What am-I thinking about! She shot in her head. She came back to reality, looked at Fluttershy and smiled. “Don’t worry. I have a plan.” She flew into Fluttershy’s house, knocking the door open. As she opened wide her friend’s refrigerator, she looked for something to attract the bunnies. She didn’t even take time to land on the ground, so she did efforts to look at the lower part of the fridge. But, there, she at least found a pouch of carrots, all fresh and yummy-looking. She brought back the carrots in her mouth and slammed the door once again. She flew in midair, searching for a good place to trap the small animals. She spotted a big cage, big enough to hold at least twenty rabbits, though she had to do fast because it was starting to break because of the bunnies. She approached the ground and catapulted the fresh carrots right through the cage door, who bounced an inch backwards because of the strength of the shot. “WHO WANTS SOME DELICIOUS CARROTS?” the blue Pegasus shouted to the crowd, pointing her hoof to the cage. The bunnies all stopped and watched where she pointed, before restarting the agitation as they pushed themselves to enter the cage. Rainbow Dash closed the cage with a slam when the bunnies were all in, and let out a victorious smile. Fluttershy approached the cage, looking at Rainbow Dash’s work. “I’m sorry,” she apologized, “But this is the only way we can calm you down...” The bunnies looked outrageous as they found out they had been trapped. They pushed in all directions to try to get rid of the rusty cage. “ENOUGH!” shouted the cyan mare, not wanting to restart all over again. The bunnies shut still as they heard her tone. “Now, tell me, why did you all gone crazy like that?” Dash asked. The first bunny in the box, Fluff, turned around and pointed a dozen of boxes who placed as dominoes who had just fallen. “Oh, my!” exclaimed the shy mare as she silently flew to the cardboard boxes. “The carrot supplies I brought must have fell and the noises probably scared them,” guessed Fluttershy. As she placed back the boxes, she whispered: “I’m sorry, little bunnies.” The way she said that sentence almost made Rainbow Dash melt. She didn’t knew why he acted so weirdly but she thought how lovely her friend’s voice was, and how cute was her way of whispering. But she then shook her head, hoping that will take the thoughts away. What was she thinking of? Has she gone mad? Fluttershy didn’t see her move, hopefully for the cyan mare. She simply went back to the cage and let go the bunnies. “Now, promise me you won’t run away again?” she asked. All little white heads nodded before leaving in different locations. The shy mare slowly flew back to Rainbow Dash. “Thank you for helping me, Rainbow Dash,” she whispered as she touched the ground. A warm smile smoothly appeared on the yellow pony’s face, showing her sincerity to her words. The cyan mare remained silent for a moment. She had the same reaction as a few moments ago: she wanted to hug her, to kiss her, to show her gratitude towards her friend. She tried to make those thoughts disappear once more, but tis time, they didn’t. Why am-I thinking such weird things? She wondered. What is wrong with me? For a second she thought that she might have some emotions towards Fluttershy, but she took that idea as something negative. I can’t! She’s a girl! And… And… But Rainbow Dash didn’t find any more reasons. She tried to catch up on herself, to understand what was happening in her head. She looked up at the shy mare once more, who was still softly smiling. She is so adorable, she thought. But she couldn’t tell her in real life, since she knew Fluttershy waqs fragile and won’t know how to take that compliment. “H-Hey, no p-problem,” she stammered, trying to find her words. Fluttershy didn’t understand the sudden behavior of her friend, but she didn’t have time to ask because Rainbow Dash was already trying to run away. Still, she didn’t take time to think and her left shoulder bumped directly into Fluttershy’s right one. They both fell on the ground, one next to the other. “S-Sorry,” she nervously said. What is wrong with me? She thought as she got back up. She looked at the sky and noticed it was already sunset. “Whoa, I sure got late since this afternoon,” she noticed, trying to forget her weird acting. “It is,” nodded the shy mare. “And I’m getting sleepy from all this work…” She added, crouching down on the soft grass. Rainbow Dash followed her movement and put her wind on her friend’s back. “You’re so adorable when you are sleepy,” she whispered. Dash only realized that her thoughts were said aloud when she saw the yellow mare’s cheeks turn red. She cleared her throat, trying to say something, but nothing came in her mind. Though, at her relief, her friend wasn’t freaked out by her words; only surprised. “I mean… You can sleep if you want… I do feel tried too,” lied Rainbow Dash. They stayed there for a moment in silence, and only the breezy wind could be heard. After a while, Fluttershy’s eyes closed down. She was too tired to stay awake. She slightly blushed as she let her head fall on Dash’s shoulder. The blue mare was at first surprised by Fluttershy’s act, but she simply smiled at the sight of her cute sleeping face. She couldn’t say she didn’t enjoy her friend’s hair touching her body as Fluttershy placed herself to be comfortable. Rainbow Dash let down a soft kiss on Fluttershy’s forehead. “Good night, my little bunny,” she whispered.
